I ended up quitting cold turkey once I got a few flavors that I could vape all day. Two weeks in and I've dropped ooh about 650.. Hope that slows down once I get into DIY and stop buying mods. Excitedly waiting for the postman.. Have provari zap combo coming as well as new flavors. Can't wait. Excited little 37 year old boy :) damn where is my postman..

I started "vaping" nye with blu disposables. I bought two trying to avoid the horrible smokers cough/hacking up crap that usually follows a night of drinking and of course smoking. It was fantastic being able to smoke inside while I was drinking(smoking ban here).

If you want to really notice a drastic change of smell increase do a saline nasal rinse. Nasopure, neti pot, or something similar. I used one to help kick a cold last week and holy crap my sense of smell was better than its ever been.

Also the crap I flushed out of my sinuses was gross. Blech...

I started vaping this week and being a pack a day smoker for almost 30yrs I was skeptical. but I was getting sick of the smell of smoke - its in my hair, my clothes, my car, my house..... its everywhere around me and the cost of the cancer sticks is crazy here so what did I have to lose by trying.

Well since Tuesday I have had only 4.5 analogs and this morning I went for my morning analog - I had to put it out ..... the taste was horrible and the smell nauseated me!?!?

Wow - did not expect that! Especially so quickly but I am going to take this one day at a time. I believe we are on a good path!!

Now

Congrats on cutting down on the analogs! In a few more weeks, you will be gagging at the smell of a cigarette.

I just started vaping and already I'm smoking less than half of what I used to. The toughest part is the taste. I'm used to ....ty tasting cigarettes. The fruity flavors that actually taste good throw me off.

Have you tried something that has some bitters in it, like Apple Jolly Rancher? I vape Cherry Limeade from Vixen Vapors all day/every day... I can't do the fruity thing too much. It will get better though, just vape like a madman when the analog craving hits and you will work yourself right through it. Congrats on cutting down!!

I started smoking a bit over 30 years ago when I joined the Army. Smokers got two extra breaks back then.
After Basic Training, I switched to a pipe because I liked the flavor better.
Then after 25 years, I was waking myself up with that wheezing sound you get lying on your side and had to sit up and cough really hard to clear it out.
Started looking to quit or switch to something else. Heard about e-cigs, but e-pipes were expensive and didn’t work well. Last October, I started finding ones I could try without breaking the bank or the epipe. I got a 601-c in the mail on Friday November 2. Put my analogue aside and vaped until Sunday night. Noticed that I was using a LOT of juice and would need to re-order a sample pack within a week. So I figured, I will just try the pipe again so I know I have something to fall back on if the liquid runs out.
I took two puffs of the pipe and went online to learn how to make my own e-liquid. Tobacco tasted more of the tar and ash than the flavor I fell in love with 30 years ago. I have not smoked since and have not felt the need to.
If you are still getting the cravings for the cigarette, you may want to just get a 10ml bottle of a higher nic level to take a few puffs off of once in a while.
But if what you are doing is reducing and making you quit the tobacco, keep that up!!! What ever works for you is the best solution!

I think many of us share the same story here!!!
We all started smoking for differnet reasons, tried many times to quit-to varying degrees, using gum, patches, medication and cold turkey!! some of us were successful to a point, but many of us could not quit long term. That damn cigarette demon that lives in the back of your head would always be there just wispering in your ear. That wisper would eventually turn into a scream and we would cave in to the cravings!! I have tried to quit 5 different times in the past and have always felt anxious about relapsing, like I was just waiting to fail again. Vaping has taken away that anxiety, I no longer fear for relapsing. Been smoke free for 4 months now, and feeling great!
The moment I got my ecig, I crushed my existing pack of analogs and vaped tough for that first week! I did have some intense cravings for the analogs, but my ecig got me through and after a week those intense cravings subsided!! I then packed up all my ash trays, lighters and the rest of my packs and threw them away (in a ceremonial type of fasion) I said goodbye and good ridance.
This has worked for me.
My advice to those still on the fence.......allow yourself to let go!!! Let go of the old habits and start new ones. Make it a habit to celebrate every minute, hour, day, week, month and eventually years of being smoke free!!!! Let go of the analogs and find your strength to resist them. Have the confidence in yourself that you can be a non-smoker. Find a good e-juice and have it handy at all times during the first couple of weeks. You can and will get through the transition, it is only temporary!! A better, healthier life is awaiting your arrival. Embrace the trip.
Good Luck. I know you can do it

Such a great post

For those who are currently vamping and continue to smoke, here are a few words of advice that may or may not help, but it worked for me when nothing else did.

Start off with a slightly higher nicotine than you smoke, and start buying lower nicotine cigarettes. I started off with the regular juice and started buying ultra lights. I soon began to realize that the cigarettes provided little pleasure while vaping did. Cigarettes also make you feel lousy when you smoke a lot, so quitting became more realistic for me.

Start drinking green tea, it helps flush your body out. You'll pee more and drink more water. It's a diuretic and has health benefits. You'll begin ridding yourself of the toxins sooner, and therefore you'll break your dependency on the 4,000 unknown chemicals sooner.

5 htp is an effective over the counter supplement helps your body increase serotonin production and has all sorts of benefits; helps people quit smoking, stabilizes mood, helps with weight loss, and many more. Check it out, it can help with the transition to vaping. I had actually tried to switch to only vaping and couldn't, began taking 5 htp for other reasons, and then I realized I was down to very few cigarettes a day (no none, just vaping).

I have been a pack a day smoker, everyday (even when sick pretty much) for 10 years. I simply couldn't put cigarettes down once I started smoking. I would smoke immediately upon waking up. I tried cold turkey, I tried nicotine gum, e cigs, chantix, a combination of everything. Nothing worked. It was frustrating and could almost be upsetting at times, but I followed the steps listed above and I am now smoke free and happily vaping. I'm just hoping ill start coughing up some stuff soon, time to get healthy :)

I have been off analogs for 2 months now and recently I notice I am not only hating the smell and taste of analogs I also disslike coffie, it taste very bitter. I used to love coffie together with analogs!

I'm noticing the EXACT same thing! Except I'm only 2 weeks in. Used to drink at least a full pot before I left for work in the morning, now I'm choking down 2 cups, and not liking it...
I'm just not sure if it's because I just dont like the taste anymore, or because I equate coffe with cigs, and just dont like the smell/taste of cigs any more...

My dad recently quit smoking cold turkey, and also had to give up coffee....

I've been vaping one month to the day. I've still been smoking too. Just much less. I went from a pack a day, to anywhere between 1-5 cigarettes a day. I've noticed the cigs are starting to taste awful. My sense of smell is noticeably stronger, and I'm breathing easier.

This really caught me off guard. I've experienced all these things before in my previous quit attempts, so i know what to look for. I just didn't expect it to happen while i was still technically smoking. Has this happened to anyone else?

My last cigarette was about 3 hours ago, and i think it's my last one of the day. That last one tasted so bad that i didn't even enjoy it. I wasn't planning on kicking the cigarettes completely at the moment, but now I'm rethinking things.

that's exactly how it was for me when i started vaping, even though i only smoked around half a pack a day, but i started to notice that my breathing was improving and i didnt get as tired when im jogging or playing basketball. Now im completely a smoke free guy and my health couldn't be any better!

I haven't started coughing yet, but I'm ready for it. Oddly enough this time around I didn't mean to quit smoking, I began to realize it didn't make be feel good when I quickly cut back. Then one day I realized I hadn't had a cigarette except one after lunch, so I figured if I had been twelve hours the night before without one and several hours throughout the afternoon then I could wait until twelve more hours had passed. Then I just felt it was stupid since I'd been a whole day.

Now it's been several days and the transition has been really easy, even as I continue to drink coffee. I've noticed some weird dreams, breathing is definitely easier, taste and smell are coming back, and I'm saving money. I think one important thing to realize is that when you crave a real cigarette, that craving will go away within several minutes, shorter if you start vaping and they continue to be shorter every day. I wake up easier and quicker in the morning, and I have more energy, probably because more oxygen in the blood. My only regret now is that I didn't start vaping sooner and taking 5htp, I think the combination is what really allowed me to kick analogs. I think I'll buy a disposable blu when I go out and drink and stick with my ego at home.
