i am working on quitting smoking and starting to vape. I am still worried about the long term affects of vaping. Like the long term affects of smoking like a heart attack and stuff like that. I am using 3mg of nicotine and mixing it with zero nic so it is 1.5 mg. also, what can I do to help me not smoke and replace it with vape? All of my friends smoke, and it is so hard to not smoke while you are drinking. I'm just scared that my tank will break or something if I were to put it in my pocket . I have a rx200. But I really do not want to smoke anymore but like sometimes I just get a urge. Idk. I've looked it up countless number of times and nothing has helped. So I joined this, and hopefully some people will tell me how much better they are feeling since they started vaping and put down the analogs.

One thing that some people find helps is to keep on hand some higher-nic juice for when those cravings hit. Get an extra tank, keep some high-nic juice in it, maybe in a tobacco flavor even. When you get that "gotta have a smoke" feeling, switch to that tank and have a few puffs off of it until the craving subsides, and then switch back to your normal, lower-strength juice.

I am using a rx200 with a aspire cleito. And because I'm just paranoid about heart disease and that stuff cause it runs in my family it might sound weird but idk
If your worried about heart problems, the best thing you can do is to not smoke. Nicotine is not harmful, so nothing to worry about there.

If you want to quit the fags, maybe look at getting a tank that will help you quit, then you can move onto more fun devices. My advice is to pick up a Triton Mini or a K3 kit, also from Aspire and try some juices at 12mg. That should get you a long way down the road of not craving the cigs.

Keep the Cleito for times when you want to have some fun blowing clouds at low nic.

I spent 47 years smoking, maybe I'm lucky. I have very few health problems. I attribute that to not being a lung inhaler. I have watched many die of numerous diseases related to smoking, most were lung inhalers. That is why I won't even think about sub-ohm. I have been vaping almost 5 years now and my health has improved. I no longer get sick and out of work twice a year because of bronchitis or even a cold. I was skeptical at first of vaping but my desire to cut the 250.00 a month outlay for cigarettes won over my indecision. I have had one cold in the last 5 years, that has made me a believer. Research all you can and when you find the product that works buy many multiples. JUst because it's the newest thing out there does not make it the best.

I feel much better since vaping. I haven't really gotten a cold in three years since I began vaping. Allergies yes, cold no. As bwh79 said, keep two separate tanks and use the one with the higher nicotine when the cravings hit. Why are you using such a low dose of nicotine. If you are just starting, I would recommend a higher nicotine level. There is a chart available on the forum to equate the amount of nicotine you need vs. the amount of cigarettes you smoked. In any case, best of luck in your vaping journey.

If you smoke a lot, that nic level may not be high enough. For me the key to quitting smoking was finding flavors I really enjoyed rather than trying to replicate a cigarette. Is there a candy or fruit you really enjoy? If so, there is probably an eliquid to replicated it. I started with fruits but what got me hooked on vaping and off smoking was atomic cinnamon. I vaped it all the time. My brain went from wanting a cigarette to wanting Atomic Cinnamon. I don't vape it anymore, sort of had my fill after 6 months and move on to Redbull juices.

I have two setups going, one for flavor ejuices and one for my tobacco that is at 12mg nic. The tobacco one works to keep me off the cigs while the other I have at 6mg nic. as my ADV. Your not getting enough nicotine with your current setup to keep you away from cravings unless you smoked a couple a day.

May be while you are getting control of smoking you avoid situations where there is more temptation to smoke. I stopped smoking 18 months ago. Today I could smoke a cigarette with no risk of relapse. (I've smoked three since I stopped smoking to see what would happen.) Once you make the adjustment vaping is simply a superior experience, cigarettes don't taste good any more, etc. If you vape you will smoke less. If you don't stop vaping eventually you will stop smoking. If you want to stop smoking sooner there might be some effort involved. I was a dual user for 6 weeks. During that time my cigs declined from 25 to 5 with no effort. Getting rid of the last few cigarettes took some effort but wouldn't have happened without vaping.

I feel better. A lot better.

That said, no one can truly answer your question. People haven't been vaping long enough to know. I am personally convinced vaping is better than smoking, even if not entirely risk free-- what is?-- but that is all I can say.

To help with the cravings, let me suggest you buy a second tank-- also helpful against fears of breakage; backups for the backups is the rule-- and fill it with your 3mg juice straight without dilution. When you're drinking, or the cravings get bad, pop in the high-nic tank and have at it.

Bumping @suprtrkr 's post here because considering it he probably worded it more diplomatically than me.

OK - sorry this is so long, but wanted to give a few personal details and results that might ease your apprehension about vaping.

I don't know about any possible negative longterm effects of vaping, if there might be some discovered much later. But based on my own experience with a couple health issues I had while smoking...there have been some definite, proven benefits for me since I quit smoking with the help of vaping!

Smoked 1-1 1/2 packs a day for 42 years. Was diagnosed with osteoporosis in 1996, since smoking inhibits calcium absorption, especially in women. Doctor recommended I quit smoking, and I tried to, but couldn't. Was later diagnosed with mild, beginning COPD in 2005, and again, doctor recommended quitting. Tried again with several different methods, but no success. Doctor has continuously recommended I quit since then.

Decided to finally give vaping a try in Nov. 2013. I slowly cut back on the number of smokes I could have each week, while substituting vaping over the next couple months. Jan. 14, 2014 I had my last cigarette, and I'm positive I'll never have another one. I can be around smokers now and not want one; have been through some very stressful situations since then...and haven't even wanted one, etc. I've always just happily vaped instead!

My own documented health improvements (regarding the above health issues) according to my doctor's exams and numerous test results, since quitting the smokes and vaping instead for the last 2+ years:

    (1) My breathing is clear and strong now, and my little morning smoker's cough has long ago gone away. Tests have always shown no further progression of the mild COPD.

    (2) My DEXA scan (bone density scan done every 2 years) from a recent test done just 2 weeks ago, shows that I no longer have osteoporosis!

I never did have any heart problems, blood pressure problems, etc., while smoking all those years. So I was already lucky regarding those. Tests done since I quit and started vaping instead...have also always shown there have been no negative changes in either of those for the worse at all! They're both still great.

So, again...I don't know of any longterms negative effects regarding vaping, but I'm proof positive of some of the benefits of quitting the smokes by vaping instead. My doctor knows I'm still vaping and plan to longterm. He doesn't suggest I stop it, nor warn me against it. In fact, he had given me a "high 5" when I told him in Jan 2014 that I'd quit and was vaping instead!

I've also been taking part in a 4-year 3.6 million dollar study on e-cigarette use that Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL has going on. Vaping is definitely allowed in their Tobacco Cessation Dept. building (where the study is being conducted) and 1 of the doctors even told me to go ahead and vape...even while sitting across a table/desk and talking to her about vaping! So, if a well-known, highly respected medical institution (that specializes in the treatment/study/cure of cancer)...allows vaping inside its building, and a doctor there had no issue with being exposed to vapor from e-cigarettes...I'm not worried about vaping at all personally.

Vaping is better than smoking, so anything to stop the smokes is good.

1.5mg is not enough Nicotine i.m.o.

    (I use 12mg at 12-14 watts and 6mg at 18-30 watts.)

If I used 1.5mg at even 40w or 50w, only one thing would happen.... cravings.

Smoking will give you a health issues faster than vaping even the strongest level of nicotine, so your answer is simple. Vape more, vape higher Nicotine - just VAPE and say no to social smoking... prove you are better than to crumble in the company of smokers.

    Most vaping is fine.

Dr. Farsalinos recommends vaping over smoking.

The British Department of health tested vaping and claimed it was 95% safee than smoking.

I tried cold turkey, nicotine gum made me sick, i tried the patches. I even tried hypnosis. Vaping is the only thing that worked. I went 0mg nicotine December 28th.

I breathe better, i feel bettee. My sense of taste and smell are recovering, I dont sound as if i sm trying to hack up a lung every morNing.

If you read one thread here you have to read the thread by Brushy Bill.

In tbis thread he tells how he was diagnosied with COPD, and how short of breath he was.

He couldn't stop cigarettes so he switched to vaping, and how his lungs started recovering and he was able to do more when he went outdoors.

For my anecdotal experience. This is the first time in 12 years i didnt come down with bronchitis in the winter.

Now there is some things to avoid in vaping.

    1. Dont buy eJuice on eBay, Etsy, and other auction sites. A lot of juice there is madr in China.

    2. Avoid Dyscetyl. Supposedly a link between that and popcorn lung..

    3. Some flavors use chemicals called diketones

    Cigarettes are terrible for you

Tar, carbon monoxide, potassium nitrate, butane from the lighter, tobacco alkaloids, abd about 5000 other things are inhaled from the cigarette when you smoke.

Thr danger from the stinkies and vaping is like comparing night and day.

I told how that Jim G introduced me to the Kayfun nano.

He is a Korean Conflict Veteran and is in the Qigong i teach at the Senior citizens center down town Tucson, and knew i vape. He moved into a Vetrans home about two miles from me, and they STRONGLY encourage the vets to not smoke because their concerns tge vet falls asleep and sets the mattress or sofa on fire. So Jim went to buy vape gear and some idiot sold a total noob an RTA when he had no desire to build so i do thr building for him.
