... Low and behold....It worked for her too. In fact it worked so well, after about 6 months she no longer vaped either. fast forward a couple of years...the cravings came back but she had lost all her vape equipment in a move. Instead of calling me or just finding a vape shop she bought smokes

...

I've thought about this also.

And told myself that if I do Quit Vaping, I would Always keep a Few Set-Ups and a Small Bottle of Nicotine in Frig just in case.

In another thread a member reported stopping vaping, and that set me thinking about my journey.
I started vaping as a means to stop smoking. I always loved smoking and the taste of the tobacco leaf. Early into my vaping journey I discovered I like the natural taste of tobacco in a vape form more than I used to like it in the cigarette form. That makes me doubly glad that I eventually replaced the habit with something better. To me vaping isn't a habit as smoking used to be. I see/feel vaping as a newly discovered hobby...:D
I really can't see myself stopping vaping ever...unless something unforseen comes my way ofcourse. I'm a natural smoker...what more can I say :p
Anyway that's my story...
I would really like to know your thinking about vaping. Do you see it as temporary or a long term thing...?
Most smokers have the thought of quitting. I'm thinking its the opposite with us vapers...or not?
Don't need to be tobacco related ofcourse...;)

I see vaping as a long term behavior for me. I like the entire ritual of vaping from changing coils, filling the tank to enjoying the inhale/exhale. It brings me a sense of calm and relaxation in addition to getting a nic hit. I’d vape even without nicotine.

I smoked for about 35 years or so, managed to quit maybe three times. Of those times which were short, like 4-6 weeks, the longest I went was a year and a half...then one day the urge just hit me and that 1.5 years was down the drain. At that point, I felt totally defeated and just accepted my fate that I would smoke till the day I died...

Now I have been smoke free for roundabout 4-1/2 years, and I enjoy vaping, more so than I enjoyed smoking, so for me, I'll just keep on keepin' on, as they say. I'm not going to rock the boat that has brought me to this point, I feel better than when I was smoking, sometimes I have a little cough, and some slight congestion in my lungs, but it is a sliver of what I dealt with daily as a smoker.

I have a lot of time on my hands, so perhaps I vape more than I should, if I wasn't vaping, I fear that I might slip up and be back on them coffin nails, I just don't trust myself because of my past experiences. So I'll just enjoy what is currently working for me, and continue to not be hacking all of the night and day like I was before...

Well I have enough Stuff for a couple of people to vape the rest of their lives  but I have cut way back on my vaping, and I am instead using Snus for my nicotine fix. I am only going through a couple of ml a week of juice, and I have a LOT, a liter+ of pre-made and 2 liters of 100mg/ml in the freezer. I just got tired of the hobby aspect, cleaning & rewicking coils, making coils, charging batteries every day, mixing juice, and on and on and on. I liked the simplicity of cigarettes, but did not want to go back to them, so Snus is my answer for now to get my nicotine. Everything I have read, Snus is on the same lines of safety as vaping (if not more safe, as there is no long term data on vaping, and 200 years worth of data on Snus), and there is no work or maintenance. I thought a lot of my habit was hand to mouth, but after I started using Snus I realized it was not, I just thought it was. I won't give up my vape gear or totally give up vaping, but I am just doing it a Lot less.

I really can't see myself stopping vaping ever...

I've enjoyed a fifty year affair with tobacco, I always loved its smell and taste...a true addict. I smoked cigarettes for convenience but it was the complex flavor of blended pipe tobacco that I truly cherished. I didn't start vaping to quit smoking but it ended up working out that way and I'm extremely glad it did. A young colleague introduced me to vaping and more specifically to NETs (Naturally Extracted Tobaccos) I liked the flavor so much I soon bought everything needed to get up and running. Once I had the gear and juice I never looked back and never smoked again. That was almost six years ago. My chronic smoker's cough completely disappeared and my general health improved dramatically. I still get to enjoy the "flavor" of tobacco, I just don't burn or smoke it anymore.

I feel the same way about vaping as you do, don't see the need to quit and why would I when it brings me such pleasure. Unfortunately, soon after I started vaping I realized the U.S. government had all but declared war against us. Years earlier they had attempted to ban vaping outright but failed in court, then they announced they would "regulate" it instead which I knew was code speak for; impose a de-facto ban. Meanwhile, State government's were hinting they would consider vaping a "tobacco product" which is code speak for; we're going to tax the bejesus out of it, and some have done precisely that. This is why I spent years learning how to manufacture my own NETs. I'll be able to enjoy vaping for as long as "I" desire to do so. No matter what taxes, fees, restrictions or other BS the state and federal government's impose, I'm immune. Better still, even though I vape 3 liters of NET each year my cost will never be more than around $7 per month which makes vaping even more enjoyable.

I smoked for 35 1/2 yrs and really didn't pursue quitting them for good until I found vaping. May 2,2018 will be 4 yrs. vaping and without a cigarette. Would I quit vaping in the future? I have not thought about quitting, vaping has accomplished what I wanted to quit and I can see myself still vaping for a long time. What I could not see, was me smoking for such a long time and putting up with the health risks. I am comfortable knowing I am exposing myself to way less damage than my past habit provided. :smokie::headbang:

For me? Never. It's probably the most guilt free thing I've ever enjoyed.
Very well said. I feel exactly like that. Proudly announces it to anyone that looks remotely like they'd be interested to...:D
The non vapers don't know what they're missing !!!

I plan on quitting vaping, I've always planned it that way. Never wanted to trade addictions, wanted to be rid of one.

Some fine day I'll put it down for the last time and I'll be happy on that day.

I don't think vaping is bad for you, I'm not worried about my health or being healthier, it's for me... so long as I vape I haven't completely let go of the smokes, I'm not completely over the addiction and the point was always to put it all behind me.

I started vaping to stop smoking. I used to smoke those Cafe Creme cigarillos and inhale...ugh! Have been tobacco free for 3 months and a few days now, no relapse or desire to smoke yet.

I vape at 6mg, and have just ordered my first batch of 3mg juice. I want to try and get to 0mg and quit altogether but I feel perhaps shinyitis may keep me vaping longer...I love the hardware and fiddling about with coils etc. The learning is also quite addictive.

Vaping has helped me with my sense of smell, I dont get so breathless when working out or walking my daily 5 kms, I dont smell, my car doesnt smell anymore, I have reasonably better breath that I used to.

Let's see how my journey progresses.

I'll never *quit*. I may stop vaping. But, I'll always keep a couple of rigs set up and ready to go. Besides, of course, saving my stash just in case. I refuse to set myself up to go back to smoking!

Although I doubt I'll ever stop vaping in the first place.

To me smoking was the addiction. Anything that you can't stop no matter the cost is an addiction. And, it made me angry that it had control over me.

I don't resent vaping. I see it as a miracle! A miracle that stands between me and smoking.

I smoked for over 25 years and successfully quit at one point for 3.5 years then went back to it. I have been vaping now for almost 2.5 years without a single smoke.

I could quit tomorrow as I only vape 2-3mg juice, but I am worried that stress or life might make me do something stupid like have a cigarette down the road. I think vaping will be a part of my life long term unless it is proven to be worse for your health than anticipated.

I am pretty much past the hobby aspect, so it is more about health than fun for me now. I still love making new flavour juices, trying new tanks, etc., but I have enough nic and gear to last my wife and I for decades.
