you can't force them, just introduce and educate them, the rest is up to them...it's about choice!
Even with good information, each smoker needs to be ready to switch. If so, they'll show interest in vaping. If not, you'll likely get defensiveness at best. I just vape around smokers, and bring it up if they ask.
I hear ya. Then there are the types who think it looks silly and the ones who are simply not sick enough of smoking to think about quitting. Actually, maybe it's mostly the last and it just presents differently. I don't push. I let them know I'm there if they want to talk and leave it at that.
Think about when you were a smoker and people would tell you how they quit cold turkey or whatever. I remember how I would do the mental eye roll.

I am making a new juice it will be already approved by the FDA as I add all of the same tixins that are in cigarette smoke. It wont be healthier than what we are vaping now but we will be complaint with current regulations.
I no longer proselytize in public. If someone approaches me and asks about what I'm doing, does it work, et al., I'll answer their questions and give them a card to CASAA or refer them to ECF. But as far as "converting" people or riding smokers I know to switch, no, I stopped doing that.
4000 chemicals are a moot point...trace quantities, detectable in one cig then not the next

Robin, if you were able to limit yourself to a mental eye roll you are a model of self control!
there are people out there that are skeptical towards e-cig, i've tried it on a few friends offering them a puff of my e-cig and they give the "... is that" look with fear that it contains drugs, and still aren't convinced even after i explained it to them.
It's like the former poster's have said, when those smokers are ready or are interested then they'll be more open to hear about vaping. Don't take it personal you have great intentions so don't beat yourself up about it. Keep fighting the good fight. Happy Vaping
You can't make people want to quit or even try an alternative they have to make that decision themselves. If they don't want to do it, vaping won't work. Write it off as their loss and move on.
We've got 8 vapors at work that I know of. Each week another person joins. We sit out with the smokers and do our thing. Those interested ask us about them. I keep disposable tips from my B&M on me so I can let them try. Tell them to keep the tip on them in case they want to try my flavor of the day.

I don't advertise the advantages of vaping. i vape. I get asked. I give them a card for my local and they eventually visit. So far, there are FIVE new vapers at my workplace, including two of my managers, who shop at my local and are very happy. You can only do what is good for you. At least you know the benefits and the enjoyment of vaping your favorite flavor as opposed to analogs. Keep calm and vape on.
I see this process in action every day. It is truly satisfying. All it takes is one person.
What it took for me was to see a 2 PAD smoker switch immediately. I was so fiercely jealous, I had to trump him. Now, we're still chillin' and vapin' like boss's.

I used to be one of those stupid people too too stubborn to quit analogs... Until i took a toot from my hubby's Joye Ego T.
Sooner or later, either the health or the wallets of these people will be screaming for a change. Luckily for me, it was my empty wallet screaming at me for a change into the vaping world.
I just let smokers know that im here to give any info about vaping when they are ready to switch. Pressuring them doesnt get me or them anywhere and ive been screamed at before by 2 of my relatives. Ive learned from that.

I gave 2 of my coworkers decent setups when they said they were interested in vaping- each got a 1300 spinner, 2 evods, 5 extra coils and a couple bottles of liquid from my extra stash. One used it for a week and traded everything for a Blu kit because "it was better" and the other sold the setup for beer money. Both are back to smoking cigs. Yesterday one says "you know, I been thinking and if you have something else you could let me have I might try vaping again!"......... Yep. I'm done. My vaping crusade stops here and now it's all about me.
