Not long ago I too was looking for a little better vape with the same train of thought. Lower resistance wire, more wraps. And like JC Okie mentioned, it takes longer to heat up. I lost my response time which was important to me.

Once I got the 26g dialed in with my preferred heat-up time I was no longer at .8. But I did find my new all-day-vape at .68Ω. (26g 7 wraps on 1/16th drill bit)

I'm still running a stock REO Grand with an RM2 or cyclone at .68Ω and I find as long as I keep the top of the battery coated with dielectric grease (Filthy-Beast tip) I don't have any firing pin problems either.

This is just my sweet spot which also required changes in air flow and vaping technique. You might want to consider less complex changes like coil position and air flow before taking it to the next level by heating things up like I did.
