;) How come your suggestions just sound sweeter than mine? Must be that honeyed tongue of yours... you've gotta be one of the sweetest people I know! {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

I am now wondering if they even gave her the 1.5 ohm coil... it appears that she got a different kit than the standard Kbox kit... hers is a 60W TC mod.

Oh, you're a gem {{{{{HUGS}}}}} It's peeps like you that make me want to stick around. I just want to help where I can :) I don't know a lot of stuffs, but what I know, I want to share!

I do a lot of training and technical support. I often have to come around a number of different ways to get people to understand what I'm trying to say. How I think of things is not how others think of or see things. I have to find THEIR ground - that's when I see more lightbulbs and less "deer-in-the-headlights" :)

Awwww... thank ya, Darlin'! I know what you mean. I've been vaping for a long while now (passed the 6 year mark a little while back), and I remember how difficult it was back then, so I'm right there with ya... I just wanna help people get over those initial hurdles... unfortunately (or fortunately, maybe) I have a background in electronics, so it is sometimes hard for me to get past things that I think are common knowledge when it's time for me to try to explain something. As often as I see lightbulbs, I also get  "Whachoo talkin' 'bout, Willis?"

Mine is the platinum one if that make any dif. and the coil read ... .15(horseshoe) 15-50v - Ni 5L.

Yep, that there is a nickel coil. It should NOT be vaped in standard wattage mode. You absolutely need to switch it to temperature control mode and never vape those coils in standard mode. You probably haven't used it enough to get bad problems, but in standard wattage mode nickel can get overheated and release toxins into the vape. Fortunately you've kept the wattage very low and along with juice and airflow that keeps the nickel from getting too overheated, but it is bad practice.

Yup, nickel coil. I have to agree with @Kaezziel - you can switch to Temp Control mode and continue with that coil, or change it out for one of the other coils. If you decide to stick with the nickel coil, let's make sure that you get the mod set up right and the coil resistance locked in on the mod when the coil is cooled to room temperature. That's very important for using Temp Control and having it work properly.

That helps! I don't have a Kbox of any kind, but I do have SubTanks and devices on which I can use Temperature Control. Thanks for the updated description of the coil! So, back to the boyz suggestions.... Now that you're set in TC (and you should always set your device for the kind of coil - Kanthal (1+ Ohm coils) would be used in Watts mode. Other coils would be used in their respective temperature control mode.) put everything back together and give it a rip.

When you first put in a fresh coil, always let it sit for a few moments to "prime" the wicking material. If you try to fire a dry coil (especially if you're not in TC mode) you run the risk of burning the wicking material, making the coil pretty useless....

(if you want to have the computer make the little Ω symbol, you can hold your "ALT" key down and type 234 on your number keys :) )

Ω = horseshoe! WOOOOOOHOOOOOO! I am learning! Ok ... so I now have it set (i think) and it reads
.19Ω 290Ni F(degree symbol) ;)
75.0W

So that should be good right? Not sure how it is 75.0W when is supposed to only be 60.0W at most.... thoughts?

I'm still learning this TC stuff mahself.

I *THINK* what happens is that the Watts setting, while in TC mode, is what "blasts" power to the coil, but when you get the the set temperature, the "blast" subsides.

So, what I do is kind of moderate on both ends of the spectrum. I set the temp in the middle-ish (or slightly higher) and use moderate power to get there. I have a device that I have set for about 450-500°F (degree is ALT-0176, btw - just looked it up!) and 30-35W. So, it hits the coil with a bit of zhuzh, and tops out when the temp gets too "hot". This is where you have to play a little bit to figure what works for you. Go with Kazizzle's suggestion on about 350°and maybe set your power level to about 30-35W and see how it goes. Much easier to move up (i.e. not destroy the coil) than it is to have to replace the coil because you fried it!

(Degree symbol = ° = "ALT" and 0176)
Hmmmm... 75W, that is weird. Doesn't really matter though, because TC mode allows the mod to cycle the wattage/voltage up and down to reach and maintain the set temperature.

So, with all of this amazing info ... am I to then assume that when I change my tank to my other flavor that I will need to check the coil in that tank and change my settings every time I switch?

Yes, if you change tanks/coils, then you will need to reset your settings based on teh new coil. Teh only other solution to that is ta get anudder mod! :D

My Target mod doesn't allow the wattage to be set in TC mode... just the temp. So it blasts it with the full 75W, then backs it down to whatever is required to maintain temp.
My Invader Mini mod allows me to set wattage even in TC mode. It tops out at 50W, so I set it there and then dial the temp in for whatever coil build/juice flavor I'm using.

This is awesome ... I feel like going back to my vape shop and telling the sales person that she should get on here and learn how to inform customers on their new set ups! I am learning so much from you guys! Thanks a bunch. I am sure that I will be driving you nuts with all my questions soon.

LOL! Yeah, a lot of vape shop employees could do with a good education and background in vape gear. Unfortunately it doesn't appear that knowing your product is a prerequisite to selling it to someone...

Ask all the questions ya want, hun... post 'em up or shoot one of us a PM. We're here to hang out and have fun, but we're also here to pass down whatever knowledge we've gleaned over the years about vaping. Helping someone else along the path kinda makes it all worth it, ya know?

Vape shop knowledge or lack of it is another topic of conversation entirely.
Ask as many questions as you want, we like it.

So... now that I know that I didn't get all the info I should as a super noob ... I am scared of the battery that I bought for $15!!! I was looking at the battery thread and it said beware of batteries without a namebrand printed on them!!! I have a pink battery in mine and all it says is 18650 3000mAh 3.7V ce and that is on a silver sticker on the side! Am I going to blow my freaking hand up???
