Interesting, see I'm going to make the switch buttons electromagnetic so until I push the button no magnets...

I am not really doing this, but would it be Possible?
Sure, but you'd need a spring to hold the air gap when you set it down and two or three more batteries to just run the electromagnet, they are a bit power hungry.

Silver Bullet Mod
Silver Bullet Series M (Mechanical)
Are these the original Silver Bullets? Maybe Bad can say for sure as I've never owned one.

Yes, those definitely look authentic. Great price at $49, as AltSmoke was selling them for $85.

"This is a steal for one of the first big mods to break in the industry! This will work excellent with standard tanks that are NOT using sub-ohm coils."

I understand why the vendor included the above quote. The fire button is wired and has an amp limit (I don't remember the amp limit). I've been using my Silver Bullet with a 0.6 ohm coil for a couple of years now. I'd suggest not to build coils below 0.5 ohm to avoid going over the fire button's amp limit. If you must build lower than 0.5 ohm, go for the fully mechanical SB. Another SB question

AltSmoke contacted me and told me that "Chad", the manufacturer for the Silver Bullet mods is no longer making mods. So apparently the above Silver Bullets are the last new ones left in the market.

I found a mod that is a bit spartan in appearance but still a nice vape - the Subzero Shorty. I picked up a black one that is one heavy, solid mod. I am not sure if mine is a clone or if it matters since the styling is generic. The button is very unique though. (stock photo):

It needed a softer spring for my taste so I stuck in a spare Nemesis large button spring for that soft touch firing.

Another eBay find showed up today - a stainless steel and copper Stingray -X for $13 shipped. I have to look hard for the tube separations and the button is fantastic with no wobble and pinkie side firing from the edge issue free. What a nice Piece!

Was from global supply and came in a square black box with drip tip and hybrid objection option.

Update on the Stingray X!

I took the button apart to find out what was so right about it. There are TWO channels 180 degrees apart for rice pins! This stabilizes the button with no modification needed since the bottom button post has two parallel rails (rice pins) to ride on going up while firing. The magnets are strong enough to let it stand unlocked with a Merlin RTA installed without firing.

This thing was stupid cheap at $13 shipped, SS covering copper tubing threading for 18350/18500 that is darn near impossible to see. A winner in every way.

It came packaged in a square black box that looked like the one in this listing except for the box color:

Steamgear Stingray X Copper Stainless Steel Mechanical Mod

Even the box art is the same as is the tip and hybrid adapter and plastic tube wrap. Price unfortunately is higher.

2 rice pins?
Two reasons to avoid it.

I don't mind rice pins. But that's only because I have an uncanny ability to find them on the floor when they are catapulted out of the firing switch when I clean my Nemmys.

Seriously, I have no friggin idea how I keep finding the teeny little things when they shoot out of my mods. :thumb:

They tend to mar and wobble and bend.
Eventually they get loose and wallow out the channel.
Its just an overcomplicated design.

I can see how this could happen over time. The rice pin keeps both parts of the button spinning together and over tightening will stress the pin.

It also (perhaps unintended by the designer) acts as a needle bearing for the up/down button movement. This type of movement is low speed and low load. No bearing is needed, but there it is anyway, fighting uneven force with every vape.

To even out the load it needs more needle bearings (rice pins). It would take more force over a longer time to bend two or three of these and the up/down motion would be smoother as well.

Scratch that larger spring idea, it can shift and cause a closed circuit because the bottom of the button floats freely.

I have two spare Nemesis magnets installed for now to test.

This button is recessed and has no lock ring. The bottom connection disc is made from 4 metal sections held together by a thin o-ring. The 510 pin is the only adjustable section for fitting everything flush. You mount the atty, adjust, screw the mod together, adjust again, etc.

When it is set up right you have a heavy hunk of copper making battery contact without any place to lose power so it fires nice, but is fiddly (I like fiddly :)) to set up compared to other mods available. This might not be the first item I would mention to someone looking for their first mech mod.

Brass is very soft.
It doesnt take much to wear and mar a brass rice pin in a brass channel.
Tight tolerances are why the Nemesis switch is smooth. Once the wear changes that, so does the feel of the switch.
I have 3 Nemesis mods and 2 Stingrays. Im very familiar with it, just not a big fan.

I'm a big SX fan, pics please. :)
The SS/Cu and floating 510 pin are what makes the SX really shine, the button is it's weakness imo. Would love to see an SX with a SMPL button.
