Nice to see this thread back again!

I'm still happily Tootling Away with 16 strength Menthol chill at 8 watts very happily using nearly 10 year old set ups - the tank in the picture dates from Christmas 2015 and the 30w iStick from some 5 years ago.

    Best to all!

I was just thinking, I pretty much have stuck with stuck with winding the same 2.5mm 6 or 7 wrap 28 ga. kanthal since I wound my first coil. It seems O.K. so far.

2 mm 7 wrap 30 for me since my first Kayfun, 8.5 watts.

Still using those and a slight "upgrade", the Skyline clone, adds juice flow adjustment, more control of air, and top fill. But otherwise a KF2L :)

Yep, if it works, don't fix it!

The lettering is still black :)

Yeah, the 2.5, 6 wrap, 28g kanthal in KFL's is still my main vape 10 years after I first tried it. I do respect people who experimented with 7 wraps and so forth but I'm just not that adventurous.

I just like the fast response of 30 :) Ramp up and cool down of the heavier gauge wires seems to take a tad long to get vapor, and "cooks" the juice more after releasing the button.

Although, of course, the thinner wires do need to be replaced more often since they can get deformed easier when rewicking :)

Don't overmuch like rolling your own coils?

Use 28 guage Kanthal - roll them around 1 Ohm and run them for 6 months mimimum and like this Ould Reformed Smokin' Man and they'll do you for 6 months so long as you burn them clean every time you rewick = not everyone's cup of tea, but t does work

Not much of a chore :) I generally anneal enough wire to wind a half dozen or so at a time, ready to install. Yes, Kanthal A1. And with 12 RTAs going at all times, I might need to recoil one every couple of months.

As long as I'm careful rewicking I usually get 3 -4 months off my 30. Yep. dry burn first.

Wind to about 1.5 ohms, and recoil when they start to approach 2. And that's usually before I destroy them when rewicking, so... :)

    30 gauge or 28? 30 gauge or 28? 30 gauge or 28?

Years ago I compromised and my 'standard' build is 29 gauge kanthal, 7 wraps, 2.5mm diameter for a 1.7Ω coil. I keep 4 mods going for my daily rotation. And a coil will last me at least 3 months.
