Coming Soon | Artisan Vaping

BTW, I feel like I won the lottery today. Stopped by smartvapes.com to check into Panasonic 18650's for the v1.5 Lavatube I had just ordered from Crystalclearvaping.com , and noticed they had the VV Altoid tin mod I've been watching to come back in stock for a month and a half now. I have been going to the site 5-10 times a week for many weeks now. Today it showed stock, and I instantly ordered. Good thing, because the Peppermint ones are out of stock again.

Wow. I ordered 2 variable voltage mods in about 4 minutes. Can't wait to get them.

Ok so Ive been following this thread as Im in the market for a VV unit myself and Ive decided to get a vv unit from crystal clear vaping. Before in the thread it was mentioned to buy the 18650 panasonic 2200mah batteries. Now the batteries sold for this unit in the kit are high drain IMR 2000mah 18650. Not sure of they are button top, protected or unprotected... what those mean... lmao. Im new to all this.

So my question is, for this unit, what would the best available highest mah battery I could buy? How do I find the appropriate charger (what am I looking for)? And am I looking for protected, unprotected, button top??

Sorry Im just not up on all the battery workings, besides charging safety. I already own a lipo sack and charge in a modified lockbox on top of that. Heres the link to the vv unit Crystal Clear Vaping

Thanks for any help!

Hi Buffalo,
Lavatubes from what I understand are kind of tight on bat space, also all 18650's are not the same length. What that adds up to, is if you get 18650's that are too long, you won't be able to screw your bottom cap on fully. Situation may have changed on the v1.5 you just ordered today (I ordered one too). Several people here use the 2250 mah Panasonics on Lavatubes. I think the bat body is a shade longer on these than an AW IMR, but the top button is only 1mm so they work. I just ordered 2 today from smartvapes.com. It's what I would use.

Here is a link:

Panasonic CGR18650CH 2250mAh - $7.99 : SmartVapes Electronic Cigarettes, Electronic Cigarette

They are 7.99 a piece, which is a good price. Shipping will be about 3 bucks.

HTH

Chris

PS Had wings at Duffs a few weeks back when I came up your way. They were REALLY good.

Thanks Chris! So which charger is appropriate for those panasonics? I dont want to spend a fortune on it, but of course want it to be safe. Looking at the battery specs it says standard charge and rapid? Is there a setting on a charger for that? If so, whats best?

btw, these are the recommended batteries http://crystalclearvaping.3dcartstores.com/IMR-2000-maH-18650_p_111.html

It does say, " These 2000maH IMR High Drain batteries are the EXACT same size as the famous AW brand IMR batteries. Length and Diameter. These are a button top cell." Does that mean the panaconics will definitely fit?

Oooh, more questions! Dont ya love it! lol

Btw, I love Duffs wings but for me I am an avid Anchor Bar fan. A friday or saturday night, with the house jazz band, takes me back to when I was a kid after Sabres games at the old Memorial Auditorium downtown with my Dad. If you havent been to the true home of where the chicken wing was invented... ya aint had a wing... imho ;)

I have a plain jane white Trustfire Tr-001 charger and it charges 18650's fine. They can be had about anywhere for 12.99 or thereabouts. Pila makes an intelligent charger that some people speak highly of. It goes for about $46 (almost as much as your CCV Lavatube).

AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | Pila Charger - Alpha - Starter Kits

I'm not into the 18650's that CCV has. They are just generic 18650 IMR's that aren't even branded. They could be reject bats that someone bought and relabeled, or anything. I have a personal policy against buying unbranded batteries, or super cheap branded bats from small discounters. With the later case theres too much chance of getting counterfeits. I'd rather pay a little more if necessary and make sure I'm getting the real deal from someone I trust. If you think about it, the entire safety issue with ecigs IS batteries. And if you check out those Panasonics, you'll find that many people claim they blow the doors off AW IMRs, and they seem to have the testing data to back that up. Other people prefer AW IMRs for their rep. At any rate, I'd go with one or the other rather than the generics CCV sells. Doesn't mean CCV isn't a reputable vendor, because they are. I just don't like the 18650's they're selling currently.

If I head back up to the Buffalo area, I'll have to try Anchor Bar. No offense intended, but what I heard from locals was that Anchor Bar was kind of for tourists, and Duffs was for locals. Now that I've heard your opinion, I may give it a shot. And not to veer too far OT, but the reason I went up was to check out the Juicy Vapor store in Tonawanda. It was OK, but not as exciting as when Phil Busardo was there. Long day trip for my wife, myself, and a couple friends. About 4 hours each way, but we did lots of other stuff like dinner, and the falls.

Personally don't think one can beat the Lavatube and battery deal from CCVapine with free shipping. I certainly think one should be aware of battery safety but some carry it to extremes treating them like a live Cobra loose in the house. Just don't think CCV is going to ship something that could come back to bite them. Safety yes, extremes no, though I do think your caution during charging is a good idea given you have the equipment.

Edit: I've been charging many different batteries with the Trustfire model TR-001 charger for nearly a year with no problems.

That's interesting as the batteries from the link you posted previously are not branded either. It says Panasonic in the description but doesn't actually have Panasonic branded on the battery. It might be possible those are generic rip offs as well. If in fact it is a Panasonic then the vendor needs to show that branding in the picture. We have all seen batteries listed on a vendors site and the description says one thing and the actual product is something else.....

I too noticed it didnt say panasonic on the batteries in the pic. Although since hificat has them on the way maybe he can verify that once they are in hand. I havent ordered as of yet. Ive almost pulled the trigger twice but something keeps telling me to wait. ya know... that little nagging voice in your head that says "do you know what you're doing?" lol... besides the fact that I already spent $100 on other equipment and diy juice supplies yesterday.

Ill order it tonight one way or the other.

Well guys I think I just changed my mind again, I just realized the Provari VV comes in black satin/ceramic...that thing is beautiful! I'm totally sold!

Does anyone know what the color of the push button light is when you push it to take a drag? I don't see that info on the site.

Thanks!

Mine has the red led but I keep it off. When you turn the light option to off.. no lights light up, except when the batts die and then the button blinks. Mine blinks red but someone with the blue led option could chime in and tell if their light blinks blue.

Yea I just saw a vid of the red light, I guess that's fine although I would prefer a cool blue.:)

Another question...the lcd cover...is it glass or cheap plastic? I just got my Lavatube from Volcano and their lcd screen cover is some cheap, flimsy plastic that bends when you push on it, it's like paper thin almost. I'm hoping the ProVari is not built like that? Also, the two end caps, they metal, correct and not plastic?

Thanks again!

I don't think it's actually glass but it doesn't bend and it doesn't look or feel cheap. And yes the endcaps are metal, not plastic. If you're looking for quality, this is it. If you have any problems.. provape has super customer service.

I love having an led to see the voltage, I've got 3 other vv mods that don't have screens and I have to attach a voltmeter to see where I'm at. Lots of people could care less about seeing actual numbers.. I do like seeing numbers but I'm fine with the mods that I have that don't show the numbers. It's not really an issue as long as the numbers I'm seeing are correct. The Provari doesn't drop voltage under load.. the voltage you set is voltage you will get.. till the batts need charging. Period.

I also love having a device that will read the ohms of my cartos, ohms fluctuate and I had a few that kept going up and up in resistance. The Provari was able to tell me what was going on. I love all my vv mods but the provari is my favorite. I just got a vv Reo woodvil and it's beautiful and wonderful and yada yada.. it's still not my provari (to me) I don't care about seeing a time and date, I don't care about how many puffs I've taken.. I don't care about any other device that comes out that might be "newer" and more advanced. My provari is perfect for me. I had a problem with it's size and weight in the beginning but I quickly got used to it. I don't carry it to work.. my smaller vv madvapes box gets that honor.

For what it does, how it performs, the quality in which it's made and the customer service that comes with it.. I don't think it's overpriced at all and MOST owners feel the same way. I couldn't be more happier with mine :)

Yea, well seeing it in black made all the difference to me, I thought it just looked tacky in the silver color but in black, the thing pops! (especially with the ss top fitting.) My problem was I was not going to the offical site, I thought the URL was something else and I was only seeing the silver colored one. Then I went to provape after a friend corrected me and I was like damn...now that is nice!

Now I just need to find about 250 bucks:blush:

Yes but the difference is that Crystal Clear doesn't claim what they are selling are AW's. In fact they expressly say they are not AW's. Smart vapes says the bats they are selling are the 2250mah Panasonic 18650's and I believe them, because that picture depicts the same thing I have seen in every other image of the Panasonics.

To be clear, both these vendors I consider to be very reputable. I don't want anyone to think I'm trying to allude that I don't think Crystal Clear Vaping isn't a quality supplier. In fact I just ordered a v1.5 Lavatube from them. I would just rather have the Panasonic 18650's that my research indicates are superior in pretty much every way to AW IMR 18650s. All that and they're only 7.99 apiece.

But again, that's just my opinion, and we all know what's said about opinions.

I will post back here if I see anything sketchy about the Panasonics I get, but I don't think that will be the case. Should have them mid week.

FWIW, here is the same bat at 310vapers.com:

Here is a picture of the bat at Orbtronic:

Here is the same bat that is rebranded by Callies Kustoms:

Now you're getting your feet wet. Look forward to spending whatever you may save on stinkies for more on PVs and every hyped vaporizing unit that hits the market, like so many of us. :)

Yep, the blue LED versions have the blue display and button light.

Another question if I may? Does Provape sell black atty's for the devices? I only see silver in colored ones, I would prefer black ones (especially for a black device.) I guess I wouldn't have to buy my atty's from them if I didn't want to but I like one place verses several, it's easier.

But I would love to have a Blue lighted device, I've seen vids of them on youtube and it's killer with the black device. Very very nice!
