And do you know the PG/VG ratio of the juice? It could be 100% PG and just be too harsh for you... Though I started with 100%PG juice and I didn't find it overwhelming but everyone is different for sure. I smoked at least a pack a day and I found 24mg nic to be too much for me and went down to 18mg. Now I use anything between 12-18 without much notice as to which is which.

I did though, when I first began, cough a bit from the vapor. It's a strange feeling in your throat the first few times.

Welcome from Winnipeg!

24mg may be a bit strong. Like cmac says, kicks his ... and mine too for that matter. I started at 18 and quickly dropped to 12ish. if you can, try a lower nic level. Sounds like that may be it. Also helps to know what kit you have, and how you're vaping it.

And if you get a chance, come over and visit us in the Winnipeg and Manitoba Vapers group! :vapor:

Everyone has pretty much answered, but i'll jump in too

Might be nic or pg. I had a hard time when i started vaping, dry mouth and sore throat, was really bad in the morning. But, it went away after about a week. If you were smoking half a pack day, i think lower nic would probably be ok. You'd probably be fine on 12, but 18 might be better to make sure you dont go back to cigs. Having a bottle of water or something to sip on helps alot.

I'd bet, if the site you bought it from doesnt say, its probably a PG heavy ratio, so you want to try something VG heavy, maybe 50/50, or even 100% VG

You don't find the bottom coils hard to deal with with 100% VG?

Also, for the OP, the 100% VG version is called Jokesmoke 2.0 And can be found here

I find it is great for mixing with strong flavours to smooth them out. I mix it with waffles, soft drink flavours, coffee flavours.....anything I find too strong.

I think Dry Hits are pretty obvious......I don't think that's what he's getting.

On my first juice order, I ordered a whole bunch of different flavours....I found some of them (especially soft drink ones) to hurt my throat hard core...

Don't get discouraged OP, just try new flavours and eventually you'll find some you like.

Also, the Vape Meets are a great way to try out other peoples' favourites without having to buy them first.

I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

I will pipe in here and say that I find a plain, unflavoured 50/50 mix with 8mg nic is good to break in a tickley throat in the am. If I feel I need a jolt I switch to a 16mg for a bit, then switch back to 8mg for the rest of the day. I actually find the flavourless mix kinda nice sometimes.

sometimes when you are new you dont know what an ecig are suppose to taste like. so dont rule out dry hits. first when i started with an ego-t i was getting dry hits and didnt even know the diffrence. ecigs taste alful and i was gonna stop using them, i bought the kit without ever trying an ecig and thought thats what it is suppose to taste like, but after playing and tinkering and reading found out i was getting dry hits, after fixing the dry hits ecigs taste awsome and havent went back to analogs. the bigest thing to switching is getting a good kit that works good first so you get to try what an ecig is suppose to be like

Meggles,
Lots of information and yes, the others that have posted prior to me have taught me a LOT. PG/VG and nic does matter... AND making sure you have whatever atomizer you are using wet. Dry can make you cough.

On another note, this is what I have come to find out.. (For you this point may be mute but someone else may find it helpful)
The longer you have smoked, you seem to cough more or take a little more time transitioning, but it only lasts a few days to a week at most. The younger crowd seems to be able to take a large puff and have no problems. I have COPD, and for me it was small puffs at first, and the more I moved away from the analogues, the easier the draw became.

Another factor is anyone that has Acid Reflux, or tummy troubles seem to have a tough time too? Not sure why? Something to do with the esophagus, would seem likely?

So if changing your PG/VG or nic doesn't seem to do it, hang in there, it will lesson. I still cough but from my COPD not from the vape. My lungs are wayyyy better then they have been in a long time!! :toast:

Good luck... cheering for you!
