Suggestions on setup

so vaping is working for me for the most part now.. if you read my first post ykwim. Anyhow, the 2 Ego AIO’s are not really cutting it and I’m going through coils so I’m looking to upgrade.
I’d like to keep it $150 or under but have a list of wants.. I’d like a 3-5ml tank, batteries I can swap out, and I’m partial to MTL. I’d also like to buy replacement coils in 3-5 packs because I don’t want to build my own... my mother has a baby beast tank on a Priv v8 and I don’t like the way it hits.. cool and I’ve literally got no idea if anything comes out at all until exhale.

What should I go with?

I would suggest a variable wattage regulated mod that has at least a 60 watt maximum. That way you can adjust your vaping experience on the fly by using different wattage settings. Look for the recommendations in the Regulated Mods section here: Good Starter Setups for a Beginner Vaper

For tanks, I always like to suggest the original Crown clearomizer tank. It comes with a 0.25 ohm and 0.5 ohm stainless steel coils for power mode, and a 0.12 ohm nickle coil for temp control. Also comes with an extra glass tank. If you find you don't like sub-ohm coils, they also make a 1.2 ohm SS coil. Each coil has its recommended power range. Sounds like you're missing throat hit, which is very important to me as well. I always recommend starting with the Aspire Zelos, although it's only a 2 ml tank. But it's a good start, and you could get a few of them within your budget. Here's a couple of my earlier replies about it.

edit- forgot to mention for a larger tank you might like the Innokin Zenith. I don't use factory coils, but their rta version- the Ares, is a nice tank.

Another tick for the innokin zenith from me - its a 4.5ml.

It comes with a 1.6 and a 0.8, so you can figure out what you like. I'm mtl but found I liked the 0.8 ohm best with all airflow holes open. You get good flavour from the tank - and coil swapping can be done with a full tank of juice.

Mod wise - really depends whether you want a compact size or not. A pico 85w single battery or an eleaf invoke 220w (2 battery) are good budget compact mods. there's plenty of other options if you are after something a bit bigger.

That may very well be true.

The Aspire Nautilus 2 has a 2 ml capacity.

The Aspire Nautilus X has a 2 ml capacity.

Well, in the UK, they aren't legal. Some manufacturer's put an "insert" that can be removed for more capacity, others make smaller diameter tanks. But, if you are in the UK, you would find it more difficult to find a larger than 2 ml tank. The good news is, if you are a MTL vaper, that's going to affect you less. You could obtain a Nautilus 2 in the UK. It's not a bad starter tank, although there are a few downsides to the tank. It was my quitting tank, I got an aspire zelos setup, and it was a good place for me to begin.

Full disclosure I have moved on to other tanks, and my husband is using the N2's I have for his own quit attempt.

As far as a mod, I recommend a two battery regulated mod of decent quality and one that does reasonable TC, as you may find that you are moving more to reubildables in the future, and I enjoy the extra battery life. However, some folks want to start with a smaller setup, the pico 25 (mod, not tank) is a single battery mod well liked by its users, for example. But, if you think you will eventually get into rebuilding or even higher wattage vaping, it can be nice to have a two battery mod almost right from the beginning.

The best tube mods for MTL vaping are provaris, but since they are no longer being manufactured, that does come with a price tag.

I like the idea of the baby beast so I’m gonna get a drip tip adapter and convert to 510 to help restrict air flow and am going to play with the settings on the tank too. If this isn’t safe to do or use I’ll definitely be returning since I couldn’t seem to get an answer out of the co.

Hope you like it- but just an fyi: restricting air flow with a drip tip or even air flow control doesn't really make a tank mtl. Like many here, I found that quite a few tanks that are actually designed for mtl just don't cut it for me, in terms of the quality of the vape. Even tiny differences in design can make a big difference. In my case, I went from the N2 to the Kayfun mini V3, which worked well for me. I tried Kayfun's next generation, the V5, and it was vastly different, even though the overall design remained the same - a little larger, with external air flow control. Then their next release, the Prime, was supposed to be perfect for mtl with new features, but almost the same chimney, deck, etc. as the Mini V3. But the vape for me wasn't satisfactory at all - I just couldn't get decent throat hit out of either it or the K5, and gave them away. I now use the Doggy Style, and an even earlier version of Kayfun - the Lite Plus V2- two very different vapes, but both of which give me the TH I need.

All that said, you may love it - lots of ex smokers move on to "cloudier" sub ohm tanks and love them, especially if they move on to non-tobacco flavors. And that is an extremely popular coil.

I suggest that you get some better batteries. The ones that you chose are re-wraps.

Why did you get the baby beast? You already stated you did not like it after trying your mom's. Why buy it and then need to change it to hopefully make it perform as you want?

The baby beast is a fine tank but goes through coils way too fast. Also the non-locking lid opens in my pocket all the time so that is a big negative to me too.

I think you should have gone with a Tobeco Super Tank since you prefer MTL. The mod you chose is a good one. So that will treat you well I'm sure.

Also the batteries should be replaced with something of quality.

Because I paid $22 and realistically I’m not STUCK with the tank. And realistically I’m never ever going to vape above 50 watts even most likely so $22 for the mod alone is a huge plus for me.

Also, I’ll add I paid $31 at my B&M for the Ego AIO and realized what a ..... I am for shelling out the kind of cash so I’m not bumming about checking a few things off my list.. I hate the tank, I’ll buy new nbd.

Best way to avoid buying rewraps and counterfeit batteries is to buy from trusted online suppliers (below). They'll likely be much cheaper, too.

Ugh ok.. I’ll check out what my mother has to see if I can find out what brand they are. I actually am leaning toward Sony but only because that seems to be the most popular so probably good quality safety wise I assume?

I'd consider nitecore a reasonable place to start for a charger. I got a nitecore 2 bay intellecharger and it's held up great. My only complain was the roughness of the sleds, but it did ease up over time. I'd imagine lubricating them would've had the same general effect.

I will say efests are consistent, but sort of consistently bad, in a sense. You can trust the fact that their ratings are CONSISTENTLY overrated, but they don't seem to jump around that much. However, I have NOT been impressed by the run time in mine, at all, compared to more reputable brands. They just suck. They suck consistently but you can do so much better than that.

Yes, I have the Nitecore New i2 (don't get the original- they're still being sold by some, and have a couple of minor issues), and it's great. Charges pretty quick, no issues at all. But I see 8vape is sold out of that one. And I should have clarified - it seems it's Efest's LUC line that get the most love around here.
