I have watched all the videos and please correct me if I am wrong, but my understanding is that when filling from the top, even if you cover the air hole with some tape, there is no way to avoid the juice leaking to the collector tank. Is that correct? I have tried it twice thus far, and both times a pretty good amount of juice leaked in the collector tank.
If it leaks that much,it means your wick tails are not covering the hole properly

In the video, when Sergey filled it from the top, it also leaked, but from this video (fast forward to 29 minutes, 30 seconds), I was under impression that his method does not produce a leak, but he does not check the collector tank to see if there is any juice in there.
When the top cover is opened - the system is not pressurized. Some of the liquid will fall into the vaporization chamber. The principle of operation is the same as in automatic waterers.
It is also necessary to check o-ring in the top cap (top cap - mouthpiece connection).
Now, if the diameter of the atomizer tank is 22mm and its evaporating liquid (4ml) at a rate of .125mm per second, how long will it take to empty the chamber? I don't know why that picture reminded me of high school advanced calculus... On another note --
Spent two days away from the house with the Vari and the Kayfun + batteries and juice and it just... worked. The entire time away from home I didn't worry about fracking with stuff or meddling. I just vaped and vaped and vaped.
I have been filling my 3.1 from top... i was told to put top cap on half way then turn upside down and tighten... nothing about covering the air hole at bottom of unit.
It worked fine.
This last time i did cover the air hole, and same as before.
I got some gurgling, and leaking from draw control screw hole.
I opened the top cap and found that the o ring in the top cap - 5c in pdf manual, came out.
Geeez its so much bigger than the hole! I am having a hell of a time trying to get the o ring back in.
edit: i found a slightly smaller o ring and it seems to work.... for now!

still getting some gurgling, some leaking out of air hole, just my luck ... the needle bottles just arrived from litecig.
Question. Why does it seem everyones filling it up from the top? Mines on its way here, and from the video i saw it seems alot easier to just use the fill hole to fill the tank up.
I have always used the fill hole that's what it's there for. Am I wrong? Or is it just for looks?
It is easier to fill it from the top, especially if you do not use the plastic window, because you can see exactly where the juice is and also because you do not need to use another bottle.
The fill hole is very small and you need to really push that plastic tip in there. I am just afraid that I will either break that thin plastic tip or damage the fill hole.
I also will always use the fill hole. Its just to easy to turn upside down and fill with a tip.
Having to unscrew cap, plug airhole as the device loses pressure seems a bit more work. I prefer to work smarter not harder.

I use the top fill for the most part just from fear of damaging filler valve. I did use the filler valve though 1st time today and it gets no easier to fill then that.
does the extra o ring kit have ALL the o rings? i still cant believe how they got that o ring in the top cap #5c.

I have this problem too with thinner juices. The solution is to fill it and cap it faster. A lot of my juices come in glass bottles with droppers and I find the only way to fill the kayfun with them is to pour the juice in and cap it. The time it takes to go back and forth between the bottle and the kayfun with the dropper allows juice to flood it.

Its definitely different than ordering from other places but, I have ordered directly from SM on quite a few occasions now. It always takes about 3-4 weeks, but I have gotten everything I've ordered. Quick? No way, but I have always gotten what I've ordered. I just chalk it up to one of those things you can't control, and SM can't really control either. It kind of is what it is I suppose.

It probably is easier, I didn't get the bottle with tip with mine and I wasn't sure(I'm still not
if you can just use a syringe. So I just kept on filling mine the same way I've always filled them before the new version with the valve. Either way, once you've got the hang of it, its a snap!- Status
