Today's "I had some spare time" post.
I wrapped 3mm eko 4/5 wraps in a sraight wick to a pleasing 1.1 ohm. I cut each end so that they would just fit across the juice well, The chamber fit nicley over it with not having to mess with it. Filled with juice, primed. First few hits were good but, more burnt tasting hits throughout tank without constantly having to prime.

Conclusion - Don't waste your time. Looked cool but, looking cool is only half of our goal. :)

I just built that exact same coil, somewhat of a microcoil, with 3mm Ekowool, single strand. I'm not getting any dry hits, but the vapor production is nowhere near as good as a double strand looped. I am trying to build it in such a way that the ends don't have any chance of blocking the liquid channels. I have had issues where, halfway through a tank, I start getting dry hits. Shaking the tank a bit generally solves this, but I suspect what is happening is the frayed ends of the Ekowool are meandering down into the liquid channels and blocking them. I figured minimizing the amount of wick, and not letting it rest on the bottom, might eliminate this problem. The problem is gone, but so is at least a third of my vapor!

I think I will try the setup in this video next: Kayfun v3.1 ES (Svoemesto) - revision - YouTube

The ends are lopped, and so they should not be able to block the liquid channels at the bottom. I believe larger diameter coil loops produce more vapor here, if this experiment with a very thin wick is evidence.

I feel you. I'm trying to finish the tank so I dont waste anymore. I have tried several set ups in a short time. I am sure my ends are not blocking as I cut them to the edge of the base and torched them for 0 frey. Me thinks that it takes longer to saturate the thicker wick and the pressure in the Kaydiddlyfun is not enough(nor suppossed to be) for this size wick.
You are correct about the loop being the best so far. I will get back to it tonight when I am sitting down. I just had some time and now I wish I didnt because I removed a good wick.

Sorry, I forgot to clarify, To anyone ordering luer lock tips from McMaster-Carr, don't get 18 gauge...trust me I learned the hard way :) so stick with 20 or 22 from them. I can not speak for the tips from other vendors.

Thanks for the tip (pun?). I ordered the 22 thinking I'll have the option of snipping it down a little thicker. Now if you can only find me a full plastic tank in stock I'll be set! Right now I'm unscrewing the top to fill and when I do that, I sometimes end up unscrewing the narrow tube around the coils.

Is Cloud 9 out again? They had them in stock. Very good peepolas there.

The oring on the underside definitely will unscrew the air tube. This is a must check when refilling from the top.

You prob wont even have to modify either one of them. I have both and they fit and juice just flows right into the valve. McMaster is in LA so you should see your stuff tomorrow via UPS if you ordered before 3ish today. I use them for work related stuff too and they are super fast. Great return/exchange policy too. Back in my carto tank days I ordered stuff from them to make cheap tanks....lotsa possibilities.

I have a kick. But the dramatic increase in the quality of steam I have not found. Although something useful kick probably does.

I choose to still use my battery after it drops below 3.7 though. If one learns to rotate the batteries than there is no need!

My new eko wick at 1.3 ohms
