Here are some pictures I took showing what I mean:

This is using XC116 with flat ribbon wire. It came out to .75ohms .
I put it on a mechanical and it blows clouds but I am not sure I want to go that low in ohms.
I'm afraid I might melt the insulators in the kayfun and I dont have any spares.

Pretty much the same as above just placed the coil different between the posts.

Hmmm. If you know what you are doing that low range. What mod are you running? I am a fan of 1.0 - 1.2ish I think its only because Im lazy and end up there on all my atty's eko, silica and ss mesh on my mechanicals. It is my favorite, perfect world and I havent used a electrcal device in months and months. As Fed says it is all subjective.
Be safe brudda.

For practice, since my kayfun has a newish coil on it at 1.3 typical 30g 4 wrap, i tried a semi-micro coil on an iGo L....
like troy's above but wraps just about touching; 28g 6 wrap came out .8+ ohms... luscious clouds says it all.
micro would be the same but even more wraps; like 8 to 10 very very close together.

I stuck a needle through the XS116 and pulled each wrap real tight... it looks like a hh357 coil. So the juice has a nice wider band to vaporize off of.

i'm sold...

It's a interesting product, but I think this is just going to undercut the sales of the 3.1 units. I really can see very little incentive to buy a 3.1 unit over this. I don't need it to screw on to my semovar. I like the fill method better on the lite, AND it's substantially cheaper. So you lose the airflow adjustment, and it you flood it the only place for liquid to come out will be the air hole, aside from that what else are you really losing?

If this was available when I bought 3.1 units I would have certainly gone for one of these instead. All I can hope is since there are less parts, maybe they can turn these out quicker and they'll be readily available

All good points.

If the price is $110, it is about $50 cheaper than 3.1 ES. I thought I have read on SvoeMesto that it is going to be half the price of the 3.1 ES, which would be around $80.

Are the collector tank and an air flow adjustment worth an extra scrilla? Maybe, maybe not, but I wonder if the performance is on par with the 3.1 ES.

I guess, after watching reviews and reading about the Kayfun clone from china, this is most likely a response to that. I think the lite is going to cost less actually than the clone.

The Lite is not pressurized, which makes it a lot easier to fill and should not cause any issues while flying or going over the hills.

According to Todd, the draw is airy. He said the draw on the Lite is almost as if the screw is almost fully open on 3.1 ES. If that is really the case, I probably would not like it, but it is hard to tell without actually trying it myself. I also like the fact that the mouth piece on the 3.1 ES is threaded. I have tried using an alternative mouth piece that you can just push-in, while it is a nice alternative because you can get a longer mouth piece which almost eliminate condensation issues, the threaded one is superior, in my opinion, because it is completely sealed and the draw feels better.

It looks like the clone, a.k.a., The Russian is $110, which is the same price Fed71 posted for the Lite, so maybe it makes sense to just get The Russian, assuming it is as good as the 3.1 ES.

Thanks everyone for these excellent tips. This device is changing the whole way I vape.. I didn't think anything could beat the Ody V2 and although I still love my Ody it's on the shelf with the arrival of 2 Kayfuns..

I have always been useless at building coils.. this device makes it a walk in the park. But I did need to see this thread for some handy tips.. about the (what I call) the moody Kayfun.

My problem is that it seems to only work good at home.. if I go out and it's in my jacket it can start gurgling or not enough vape coming out. Thats where the Ody was winning. Now I have read some stuff here I hope that that problem will be in the past.. and that video.. the Kayfun light at 60 squids.. Thats what was needed.. an affordable, easy to build, great tasting device.

Great tips everyone and again.. thanks for sharing.

I'd say simplifying the fill mechanism is a big improvement - no need for plastic needles and squeeze bottles or syringes, one exit point for leaks eliminated, and one of the most complicated parts removed. I do prefer the new, similar fill hole on the Scuba tank, though. It has no threads to wear, which in the case of the Kayfun Lite would require a replacement screw or, worse, a new base. On the Scuba, the port is a metal plug with an o-ring, and it is secured in place by the top of the mod when you screw it on. The only wear-and-tear is on the o-ring, which is cheap to replace, and should be able to be sourced from anywhere.

The removal of the draw adjustment is a big loss for me, because you cannot compensate for this with a device like a Hippo. Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like the draw is the draw, and other than possibly using more or less wick (insofar as one can without overcrowding the chamber), you are stuck at one setting.

I would still choose my current 3.1 ES, because you can always fill from the top (just plug the air hole with a bit of tissue or your finger) and you can adjust the draw - IMO, the best of many awesome features on the 3.1 ES.

Got my mini in from russia a couple of days ago!! Under 30 days not as bad as i thought it was gonna be...

Bt i have a question, i got the sticker and would really like to use the clear tank with my 16mm mod. It wont fit with the clear tank on it. Unless.... I can find some way of melting or warping one side of the clear tank so it has an indentation on it. Anyone have any ideas on how i might be able to do this? Any ideas are greatly appreciated thanks! Maybe a heat gun or a torch idk?

sounds like a terrible idea to me... i would make sure to have a spare on hand before attempting anything like that

Is there any possibility that a "Mini 2.1 -Lite" is in the works?
I'd love to know too - that was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this!

I love my Minis, but I use them as drippers the vast majority of the time so any difference in filling mechanism on the tank setup would be a non-issue, and I never have to mess with the control valves anyway. They're absolutely fantastic drippers, so a less-expensive Mini Lite version that could still be used in drip mode would be awesome. I'll take 10. :D
