What should the cutoff be on a BB with Evolv chip? Doesn't seem right to me.

Checking mine, the "Cell Soft Cutoff" is set to 3.2v, but I think I changed it, looking in the Escribe manual it shows 3.09v, so that may be the default...

From the manual:
Cell Soft Cutoff: When the battery gets low, the dna will prevent any cell voltage from dropping below this level.

I'm a fan of the clear panels so I can see the juice and battery level at a glance, I only run the clear on the battery side...

Maybe I'm remembering wrong what the cutoff voltage was on mine. It's been a good while now.

Yeah, I love the clear panels for that very reason as well as the look overall.

My BB DNA60 never drops that low and still fires englishmick. Are we talking about the DNA60 or the SERV-70 board?

By the way, you can purchase see through panels and panels with cutouts too. ;)

Mine are DNA60.

As for panels. I'm fighting a losing battle here. BB is an expensive hobby. I'm only two months in. Vapesnail is due Monday. Spare Boro tanks finally made it to Chicago Customs. Got a Xeta and some plugs. I've been thinking, maybe I need a third BB. Maybe some panels. Probably not the transparent though. I don't see the appeal there. Maybe some wood is in my future.

Wait a minute here. It can be. I bought four right away and spent $1500 total for everything. What's that, like $375 apiece? But there is no reason why you have to. You could easily get by with so little. And if I had to do it again, I could do it for 1/3 the cost. :D

2.75 volts is fine for a round cell, 3.09 for LiPos

You are most likely right, I just noticed the manual shows LiPo above the 3.09v...

I went with 3.2v because I use 10 amp Sony/Panasonic NCR18650GA's, I only vape around 10 watts, they drop off real fast once they start getting down, I figure not dragging the crap out of them may help extend their life... Some I use are 5 years old, they certainly don't have the capacity of a new one but they're still pretty good...

That's the truth. I just counted up and I'm at around $340 now. About 6 weeks worth of cigarettes. I was quite frugal with vaping gear over the last 6 years. Lots of $30 mods and cheap tanks in clearance sales. Finished stocking up a year ago so a little indulgence is OK. I don't need any more BB stuff. Maybe I'll indulge in some more, maybe not.

Here is how I see it. I spent that money between February through September of 2019. Now I am set for life. I haven't spent a dime since on BB stuff. As I have everything I need for them and more. And since September 9th is less than two months away, we might be stuck with what we have for life anyway. :(

My only problem is I'm still stuck in stocking up style thinking. I have a Xeta and a Vapesnail, what if one of them breaks. Those clamps on the Xeta can snap. I already had one major leak that got into the chip box. If I kill a BB I would only have one left.

I've got enough Picos and Provaris and Solos and Silver Bullets to see me through. Likewise KFLs and Lemos and STMs. And nic. I need to see the BB's as a special treat not something I'm dependent on. Like the Woodvil I got last year. Don't have any parts for it and it won't last forever. But that's OK. Just takes a bit of attitude adjustment.

That's avoidable if you're careful though. The SXK comes with an extra clamp too. Couldn't hurt to grab a spare even if it takes a long time to get there.

I've had some deluge level leaks into mine. With the DNA anyhow, clean it out and back in action.

I know everybody's heard this, but the only actually future proof mod is a mech tube. Every electronic device will fail at some point. A solid mech tube will work just like day one 200 years from now if reasonably maintained.

Every electronic device will fail at some point.

My Marantz 4400 quad/stereo is from the 70's and my 2 Timex, many Commodores, and one IBM-PC are from the 80's, my 25 inch Philips CRT TV is from the 90's. Yes they may fail at some point. But then again, maybe not. In either case, they're repairable. ;)

Doesn't necessarily need to be a tube though,i have several mech box mods that will definitely outlive me,and the only thing that could go wrong with them is needing a new piece of copper bent for the contact,or possibly threads stripping in the 510,but unlike a tube, the 510 can be changed as long as you have a spare.
I love my tubes too,but ya gotta remember those boxes haha.

You can always build a mech mod from a flashlight if you have to (just like the good old days). Or even from a gutted regulated box mod. Remember even mech mods require fancy electronics to charge those batteries. ;)

True story: I knocked the tube part of my disassembled mech mod off a table and it landed on the tile floor, directly on the corner. This created a dent in the threads. Could no longer screw anything onto that tube. Dead tube mod.

It won’t look like new, but the threads can be repaired to fully functional.

Yes, but chargers are not on the government chopping block. We should still be able to get new ones. However batteries are a different story. I'm waiting for them to go after those.

That's why I said "reasonably maintained."

I wouldn't be worried. Virtually any regulated mod could be converted into a mech mod very easily. Even a Billet Box. ;)
