what did you use to grind the copper? all i have is an assortment of sandpapers 200- 2000 grit
Copper is soft. Those grits of sandpaper should do just fine. Start with 800, finish with the 2000 and you should have a smooth now slightly tapered tube that the switch will glide past.

Also, Copper Stingray Con: it turns my hand green :D
I own just 1 copper mod, it's lacquered so I don't have that issue. But prior to actually receiving it, I read up a lot on just this issue because I know my skin, body chemistry, body pH, whatever does not play nice with metals. Supposedly a good quality polishing cloth used often and regularly will keep this from happening for most people.

does anyone know if the rate at which copper patinas is much slower than brass? My red copper stingray literally looks pristine still after about 4 days. I dont really get sweaty hands or oily hands much as I wash my hands constantly but my brass nemesis patinas visibly after a day. My stingray looks like its still out of the box. I dig the look of aged copper alot more...........is it possible that infinite put some clear coat thing on top of this ?

" ...Ended up taking off the locking ring, and grinding material off the end of the tube, making it thinner, and gave the edge a bit of chamfor. This made the biggest difference, and everything is fine now. Happy camper!"

I can almost guarantee you this will fix it. It's worked for me and others. :)

So I just did this and yes, this is really the fix for the switch. I now have a button that feels like buttah. Thanks for the info man! really helpful

I do think that vaseline inside the switch helps too. lol, basically this switch needs all the help it can get when you first get it, but when you get there its perfect. I enjoy it more than my nemesis switches now because of the ultra short throw on the stingray. Its stiff enough to not fire when sitting unlocked, yet soft enough to fire with just a press of my fingernail. Its perfect now.

I believe copper will patina faster than brass. If yours looks pristine after 4 days of use, I'd guess that it has clear lacquer on it. My copper Nemesis clone came that way. I know there are threads here about how to remove the lacquer.

I'm trying to figure out exactly what you're suggesting here. You're not grinding the tube shorter, but grinding thin the inside of the tube where the switch threads on?

I'd love to see a nice zoomed in picture if you can.

NOT the inside. The outside, below where the locking ring threads on.

Holy crap, I feel dense now. I see exactly what you mean and will give that a try.
If you look carefully at how the bottom cap slides past the bottom of the tube you can see how removing a bit of the outside of the tube will make it easier for the switch to slide past it.

I did this on one Nemesis clone and it completely changed how the switch behaved. Hope it works out as well for you and your Stingray.
