So maybe keep the wicks off the deck by a couple mm? Is it the distance from the deck, or the fact that your raising the wick shoulders up higher? Just wondering if you have to cut the wicks to the deck and then raise them, or just simply cut the wicks shorter so they don't touch the bottom?
Your going to think I'm nuts but this works for me, raise your wick up off the deck before you place it in the wicking slots and make sure it stays up off the deck when you assemble the tank. I have a juice that would turn almost black in the Dog but taste just fine, after trying this raised wick I no longer get very dark juice.
I use a very skinny jewelers screwdriver to get under the wick.

Perhaps it might make a difference but the wicks are still in contact with juice, so not sure why cutting a bit shorter would make that much of a difference. I will definitely give it a go for sure, thanks
Yes try to have the wick only in the channels, keep it completely off the deck .

Thanks. I'll try that.

Not shorter ,if anything a tad bit longer so you can lift the wick off the deck but still have enough wick to fill the channels to the bottom.

I just got some 26g kanthal today. Going with a 2.5mm 7 wrap coil first in my Doggy.
26ga might be a little chunky for the little doggy at 2.5mm. I use 28ga, 2.5mm and have to be very careful that the coil isn't touching the posts. You may have to raise it higher than with thinner wire.

You know, I want to add all this stuff knowledgeably about how high to raise the coil, and what wire you should use.

I have to admit from personal experience, like, I don't care what wire I use, OR its resistance (that much) and DEFINITELY not the wire gauge, if I can just get that thing coiled, period, without losing one of those flat head screws (and my mind) I am like "VICTORY IS SECURED," and I'm also not CHANGING that coil until it literally disintegrates.

I woke up to a "check atomizer" on one of my doggies this morning and I did not DO ANYTHING to it, drop it, touch it, vape it even! I went to bed, woke up, started vaping it and was like, "This is odd, not quite the flavor I am used to," and then saw the message.

Then I thought, "Life. Too many parts cruelty." Oh I'm GOING to do something about it today at some point.

It's probably because I mentioned the tiny little doggies in there, much like seeing the inside of Willy Wonka's factory caused many children harm. I mean they were probably like, "Anna outed us, thanks a lot" and did some unfair biting and I hope not leaving their you know "scent" or "superiority" anywhere. Sigh.

I'm not sure I understand??? Something like this? Keep the wick positioned like this on right side... not like on the left?

Yes, that's it, I wish i had my phone so I could send a picture but your outline is correct. This is not a cure all for leaching but it helps tremendously.

And it heats fast enough for you? I know everyone is different and has there own sweet spots, but for me, I prefer 6 wraps at my wattage . Some like it fast, some not so fast, but at 23 ish watts 7 wraps is just a tad bit slow for me, so I do 6 which hits super fast....I couldn't imagine doing 7 wraps of 26g, let's sat at 10 or 15 watts, it just wouldn't heat fast enough for my very fast draw.....

Iv'e been super busy lately and forgot to let everyone know that the great dog is not indestructible, I had a drop from about 4 ft to concrete a few weeks back and the mod survived the dog did not. I did not have a backup so I taped it the best I could and made it through the day, very gurgly juice in the mouth day. I took some pictures and sent them to my pc post but have been so busy I forgot until now.

    "Tis but a flesh wound!"

That dog shall surely fight on (new tank on top, of course)! :)

I've saved your doggy pic from when you were helping my wicking. Is this the technique you mean?
