Little doubt about T compensation: I thought there was an on board thermometer, but the addition of this feature means it's not the case?

That is not necessarily true. the compensation is just something to play with to help you get in the "BallPark" of your choice. It also helps adjust when your room temperature is not exactly 68 degrees F (which mine never is). I would be very surprised if the SXM didn't have an RTD sensor on the circuit board.

the heat transfer rates of metal are far greater than liquids that have to rely upon stratification [apart from liquids going through latent heat change]

when building a new coil and adding fresh juice your coil/juice will be closer to room temp than a mod in a hot sweaty palm

the board is directly mounted to the C frame and this with the body is used as the boards heat sink

it will work in reveres if handled a lot when not being used

so the addition of setting a room/ambient temp increases accuracy

proof is in the pudding as they say, try holding the mod unused for ten minutes then feel the bodies temp with the back of your hand and compare with the tanks

Does anyone know what version of the install software you have? I did update on the last one ok but this time my PC will not see the SXM driver :(

Anyone have an idea? I have version 2.3.0

Cheers!
After you plugged in and turned link on did you remember to push connect? I did that on the last upgrade and couldn't figure out what was wrong. Just an idea.

Do you think it makes any difference if you have the 60w or the 75w upgrade. I have the 60 and I notice on the new upgrade it says 75w. Any idea. Seems to be working correctly. Also getting the Ti dialed in better. I'm using 410F 14J with the Unk and 420F 15J with the CW and it seems better then it was. Just using the standard comp temp of 25C. I am using 26awg 5 wrap 3mm spaced.

Ah, Ok, let me see if I got it: given the different "thermal latency" of the mod with regards to external temperature, the T compensation is a way for the user to say "hey, forget what your RTD sensor is saying, it could be off and still adjusting to the external conditions... Here's what I know is the correct ambient temperature"

Is that correct?

Thanks.

that's how I see it

I cant see any other reason for its use as the board must have temp monitoring

also noticed it took along time for my coil to synch correctly after using juice that was kept in my cooler kitchen

which cant be compensated for

Legs,

If you are having problems with your computer seeing the SXM just remove the battery and try it again. It always works with the battery out.

The 2.3.0 your seeing is the SXI software driver version not the firmware ver. The latest firmware version is 2.32. You can verify you have that by holding the fire button down while installing the battery.

Edit: Think I misunderstood your question. Remove your battery then connect to your pc with the SXI installer opened click connect.

anybody done the update on a mac with virtualbox?!?!

Way tooooooo afraid.

I went back to my XP Box to do the update.

Besides, El Capitan broke VBOX USB. [emoji16] For the time being eScribe is not working. If you are still on Yosemite + VBOX you should be okay.

Holy crap i didnt know that! That is a great heads up. I have bben unusually lax in updating my MBA but wont now for the time being. Glad I asked the question about the sx upgrade.. must admit, Im not too keen on trying it. Maybe I'll seek out a pc at work and do it there...lol!

NB: If I only had Yosemite I would have had zero concern. Unfortunately I upgraded both an MBP and an Air.
