Yeah IDK either but will check that too. I bought them from a place that had the extra glass tank because I didn't need any more Orings now I wish I would have gotten the others. I do notice looking inside the air slot it is different in there too then the old ones. I wrote to Kangertechus to see what the replacements they have are. I might see if the latest ones have 2 air channels or not. I have 6 now what's 2 more right. I miss the extra air flow. Of course we are only talking about a .01 difference.

Tried to search through this thread, but it's gotten too long, and I'm too lazy....

I just put a TC Kanger OCC coil on my Sub tank Mini. Resistance is 0.14, 70-30 vg/pg.

Set the temp to 400, joules to 20j and the vape was way too weak. Upped the temp to 425, joules to 23J, getting better.

I then bumped temp to 450, and joules to 25J. The temp, when I hit the fire button goes right to 440-450, bounces around slightly above 450, and stays there.

I figure that I'm not actually getting the 25J, as the temp control should reduce power when temp gets above 450, so I reduced my Joules down to 23J. Still jumping up to the 450 degree area, bouncing around slightly above it....

How high can you set the temp before the cotton burns? Should I continue to increase the temp, then increase joules, until I find a sweet spot?

Just increased temp to 475, with Joules still at 23J. Temp now jumps up to 475, slightly above, and stays there... I'm now getting a much warmer vape... but am I wasting battery power?

I would think that ther's SOME temperature where the cotton will burn, correct?
I have used similar numbers around 475F or even more with the Kanger coils. Then just set the Joules to suit your taste. Why worry about the battery wasting power if it gives you the power you like. As far as burning the cotton, I have never had that happen to me. As the juice gets dry I only find the flavor getting muted and never a burnt taste no matter if I am using 325F or 525F in my experience.

I think it's just there's a higher potential for having problems "hot spots" with contact nickle coils. I've read some users have had success with contact coils and I've done them as well. I just have more consistency & less problems with spaced coils. And with the ability to go down to .05Ω on the SXmini m I don't find the need to have the coils scrunched in so tightly that they touch.:2c:

have others had this issue too then BNEAT, worked ok with kanthal but I seem to get hot spots and jumping ohms if coils are touching
Yes Sir. Contact coils may work for a little while, but I've yet to hear from anyone that hasn't eventually run into problems. And this is old-school experienced vapers I'm talking about.

edit: besides, with spaced coils your wick and coil stays cleaner longer than contact coils.

edit#2: Yes, I'm just referring to TC applications. Compressed Kanthal coils work fine except they too get dirty faster than spaced Kanthal.

thanks I was wondering if I needed to torch the wire before wrapping
but think I read somewhere that will soften the already soft nickel further
it seems quite stable and consistent on the stm now

are there any other tanks that work well with nickel with good air flow

There's a gazillion Sub tanks to choose from right now and a lot of folks like most of them in one way or form. I don't have much hands on with the different att's around but I've been extremely happy with the Subtank mini. I really cant fault it in any way. No leaks, no condensation, easy to build, nice warm to hot vapor if I want it on a single coil, nice size juice capacity, Air flow fit's me perfect, It may be a little loose for those that like really tight mouth to lung??? I'm usually wide open or with 2 holes.

I guess if there was something I would like to see with it is to redesign how the OCC coils attach to the head. I would like to have more confidence in that it would be as good a connection as the RBA deck so if I chose to use a nickle OCC head I would be confident it would work as well as the RBA deck.

The name of this sub-forum should be changed to the "TC/spaced coil" section.

Contact coils just don't work
Although the sx mini m doesn't officially support other materials than nickel for TC, I think it would be close minded to rename an entire forum to "TC/spaced coil" just because a few boards only officially support nickel which I agree, isn't the adequate material to make full contact coils.

You can make contact coils with titanium and the wraps won't short. Joye already announced that their upcoming evic VT will support titanium builds. Unofficially, the dna 40 works perfectly with Ti as long as you consider the temperature offset.

Yeah I am looking for a stm with just a bigger chamber so I can fit bigger coils in there
3mm seems to be the limit as tried 4mm but was touching the chimney
they did need for me the juice channels opening up a bit as found volume of vapour dropping off when chain vaping

maybe I should just be satisfied for once and just buy another :) or a vaporfi volt

From my experience the best pre built ni200 coil tank combo is the smok gimlet coils last almost 2 weeks and the flavor is great and I've tried most of them even the new tct from smok and it was not as good as the gimlet.

thanks beez
am looking at rta only as like to build my own rather than rely on and cost of pre built coils

Well that's good to know. I was under the impression that Titanium had issues with touching coils too. (and I've been subscribed to the Ti thread since the beginning...shows how well I pay attention)

Better check out the Ti safety thread again. It works :)
