I've noticed (no scientific testing but by my eye only), at least on my unit/build, The temperature is hovering much closer to the set point now with v2.1. Before, as reported and tested on multiple FLIR's it was off 10%. ie., setting at 400 you'd see readings up to 440. Now I see it staying much closer to the 400 set point. Also appears to be much more forgiving using a Kanger NI200 occ and that magic 0.065 "might" be less important than before. Perhaps others can test and confirm?

I may be imagining it too, but in both Eco & Standard I seem to get a warmer vape
It seems to be hovering closer to the temp limit since the update

No, you're not imagining it. Exactly what i posted a page before.

If anyone really wants to really take a walk on the wild side today,:danger: "Bonmatos" posted a link in the SXmini mod thread to a YouTube site where the owner made a logo changer for the SX, SXM, and the 350J chip modders.

He just updated the tool to work with the SXM with the latest v2.1 firmware using his data file:

SXmini-M_150W_20150525-1711_V2.1.data This is the one to use with the new firmware and the SXM.

I haven't tried it yet, but it does look tempting especially now that we have firmware that we can go back to if needed.

Do we have any bricklayers here wanting to take a leap? :matrix:

In the Eco mode we now have 5 more memory settings that you can set and hold in memory. They are different than the 5 memory settings that share the Soft, Standard, Powerful+, and the Powerful modes. Weird that they put the Powerful+ in ahead of the Powerful. A minor fix needed IMHO.
Busardo's review 2 showed that the Powerful+ actually looked less than the Powerful setting. That could be why.

Actually, the powerful fires at 400 mv above your setting for 2 seconds, the powerfu+ fires at 520 mv above your setting, as seen in the video...

Qued up for your convenience to where he shows the numbers at the 26 minute mark...

He says in part 2 that the power mode looks more powerful than the powerful plus mode
Start about 3:50...........................Also if you haven't watched it, it better shows what's happening with joules and temp settings in it's pwm on the scope

One thing I am not sure yet is if the Powerful and Powerful+ modes work as they do in the wattage mode. I can't really tell myself but maybe if someone has a scope to put it on we would know if they fixed it in Joules mode.

It doesn't appear they made any changes to the modes functions in joule mode. Powerful and Powerful+ are still less than Standard mode the initial 2 seconds when running in joule mode using the 150w update.

Well, I just installed the update and on my first new build it seems to be working fine. Fingers crossed my Kayfuns work better too ;)

Found this on the yihi site about eco

Q: What is the Eco from this new upgrade firmware ?
A: In the ECO mode, a lot of functions will be banned, as much as possible to improve battery time.

Upgraded .... I wont mention how many days it took off my life when complete the mini would not turn on :w00t:

Pulling the battery cured it

Quantum,

I can identify with you anxiety during a firmware upgrade. They tend to be a one-way street. But pulling the battery (which I will do next time) never crossed my mind. Most every firmware upgrade I have ever done came with the warning "Make sure you battery is fully charged" - go figure.

Just an fyi, you will need to reinstall the driver if you already have it installed.

Requires Windows and a PC.

Whichever you decide to use, extract them somewhere you can locate (they must be extracted, the SXI software wont accept a rar file).

I have an old Win 7 PC that I haven't used in ages. It won't open the rar file. Do I need to download a 3rd party app to unzip it?

Thanks Papa for the information. Frankly I tried it and didn't notice any change so I just went back to "Standard" mode. I am understanding that to mean they eliminate things like Boost that is about the only thing that comes to mind that might use more battery unless there are some internal coil checks going on that may use a small amount of battery.

PS - I love the way they word things i.e. "Banned Functions".
