Doubtful it'll blow, but I can persistently reproduce a major problem doing this. :( It's avoidable but a nuisance all the same.
Yep, Houston we have a problem. It says "Check Battery" with the graphic on the screen. The battery icon also shows empty. I tried changing it to Standard mode and then powering off through the menu and then restarted the unit. Still the "Check Battery" message.

The way to get back to normal is to change to another mode other than Eco and then take the battery out and then back in and power on.

I guess that means no battery changes in Eco mode. At least until the next firmware release. lol :w00t:

Yep, Exactly what I was seeing. Seems ECO mode has some functions disabled that are needed when swapping batteries. Thankfully there's a workaround and they can update it.

It's a Major Nuisance IMO but completely avoidable if switched to another mode prior to changing batteries.

Is anyone having an issue with the mini in TC mode, reading the resistance too low at the time it is locked in? For example, I have the subtank mini OCC nickel coils with an advertised resistance of .15 ohms. I put the coil on an ohm reader and it reads at .15. I put it on the sx mini (both coil and device are room temperature), and I get a reading of .12 ohms. This same thing happens on other atomizers and builds. It always seems to read about .02 to .03 ohms lower.

This is not much of an issue when using Kanthal in non-temp mode, but with nickel in temp mode it makes all the difference in the world. I get very poor performance across all temp/joules ranges. To "hack" it and register it at the resistance I know it should be, I fire the coil once and lock it in once it gets to around .15 ohms (in the case of the occ nickel coil). The device then works flawlessly.

Is there something I'm doing horribly wrong, or do I have a defective device?

Try raising the set temp

Sometimes the ability to push updates means you get less mature software at any given time.

Thanks for the info JimScotty0.... will let my buddy know so he can decide whether or not to install the update..

For those looking for paint options, I found this on an SX Mini FB page. Looks pretty good to me.

Just upgraded my sxm....my initial impression on the Eco mode is that the vape feels somewhat thinner and harsher. On standard mode, the vape is much more rich and smooth. Might possibly be due to the cutoff at 40J.

I tested it on 28J 430F on the Lemo 2 with 0.061 ohm 3mm ni200 coil using max VG juice.

Thank God they can correct it at the distance of a mouse click.

God, I love the Internet, don't you? :)

I'll take buggy software updates, over buggy software that can't be updated, any day ;)

My initial tests with my cheap oscilloscope reflect the Eco mode and Standard mode have exactly the same output signal. I think the main differences between the two is in background processes and duration of the screen being illuminated. Eco being 5 sec and the others being 1 min. And of course the limit of only being able to go up to 40j in Eco.

Have you tried venturing into the Powerful and Powerful+ readings?

Looks like Yihi woke up the dead here in this SXM thread today. I haven't seen so many folks in this thread for a while and thought things were winding down. Instead of BBQ corn we have new firmware to play with and perhaps some BBQ SXM if you change batteries in Eco mode. lol Not a big deal, but I am glad Vlad found it so we can work around it. I am still using Eco mode today without a hitch otherwise. As far as saving battery power, only time will tell on that one. Too early for me to tell. In the mean time that just means 10 memory settings instead of 5 before the update.

Happy Memorial Day to everyone here in the U.S.

Well it was really @littlewierdo that first reported it, he just doesn't know it yet. After he reported his problem I started investigating how the cap tightness could possibly cause his error. It took a little trial and error before I found it and was able to reproduce the error. On the use of Eco mode I'm loving it so far. I prefer the screen go dim after 5 sec than how it was, glad we have that option for those that don't.

I'd like to be able to set the dimming independently of other restrictions. Love the high wattages/joules, but I have no need to have the screen on for so long.
