I am using a Provari but I need a mod with more power for the Kanger Subtank Mini.

I have a ProVari P3 and run my SubTank mini with 1.2 ohm coil at 20W, and it's just right for that tank. Some juices I have to turn down to 17-18W, but many are good at 20W. You might not need much more power on the SubTank. The 1.2 ohm coil says 25W maximum, so not much more than a P3 can deliver. I use my SXmini with an Atlantis tank with 5ml upgrade at 35W typically.

I am confused on the Battery for this mod. I have AW 18650: 2200 mAh - Button Tops. Can these be used in this mod? Or, what is the preferred Battery, and I am using a Pila IBC Charger exclusively.

Since you mentioned you have the AW 2200mAH battery, you must have the new version with the black ends (not a solid red battery), in which case it's rated at 20A and can be used in the SXmini. The older AW 2000mAH is solid red, only rated for 10A, and would not be safe in the SXmini.

For the record, I'm using the SXmini USB port to charge. I never take the battery out. Some people have reported issues with the USB port, but I think it's a rare case, and if you're gentle with it, there won't be a problem. So far, no problem with mine, and I use it every day.

Speaking of the M Class.. I picked up a SMOK Gimlet Cloud Tank which included 2 Ni200 coils to try on my Hana V4d, (Now back to Hana with a scrambled screen) and the M Class when it arrives. I originally purchased the SMOK VCT to mess with these new sub-ohm clearo-tanks, and although I find the flavor quite nice, the quality was less than desirable. The stop that prevents the AFC ring turning all the way around has broken, and the pressed-in chimney tube popped-out once, leaving my hand soaked in e-liquid.

The Gimlet is made MUCH better than the VCT. Looks nice on the SXmini to boot IMO..

I went over to a buddy's last night for a little non-biased evaluation of the SX mini. The immediate verdict even knowing the price? "where do I get one?"? Mind you he's a much thriftier vaper than I. We kept switching our toppers from our sx330 devices then onto the SX miini and with every atty we got a more consistent complex and flavorful vape. He was especially inmpessed with the way the SX mini brought out the flavors in his Atlantis, describing it as "bringing out the flavors one at a time rather that all at once." He also loved pretty much everything everyone loves about the mini fit-and-feel wise, which I thought was cool because he had never heard of the SX mini before I showed him mine. I pointed out to him the 3 imperfections in my device and like me he found them minor enough to ignore.

Needless to say I was happy to get such a high appraisal from him, since I felt he would lack that "I paid for this so it's awesome" bias. The SX mini rocks!

Also, thanks for the info about the classies. I got curious about them a while back and got myself verified and actually took the time to read the rules but a refresher is never bad. Another friend of mine is having trouble switching to vaping using his iStick 20w + Nauilus so I'm thinking of gifting him the iPV mini II and an Atlantis for his birthday. He's a 2-3PAD smoker and he doesn't like liquids with >12mg so I think he's just not getting his nic fix.

ETA: I meant to give a shout out to vspot vapes. I ordered my SX mini before bed on Tuesday and it was already in the hands of the USPS before I woke up on Wednesday. The SX mini made it across the country from them in Atlanta to me in SF by mid afternoon on Friday. Heck, the vapemail even came 3 hrs early that day. Plus the halloween style candies, battery-cap-nickel, and hand-written notes complete with smiley faces really did add that special touch.

Tilting is the only way to access the menu options (after 5 button presses).. I would imagine the M Class will be the same.. I rarely need to access the menu, so it's no hassle for me.. (I kinda like using the tilt feature when I do need to.. :) )

to change power settings and to switch between the 3 modes does NOT require you to go into the menu system- it can be done by pushing buttons alone. quite frankly, power settings and mode setting are the only things i change with any frequency so i rarely if ever mess with the menu system at all.once i set the screen to auto tilt i can't remember when i had to use the menu and mess with the tilting at all...

that gimlet looks pretty nice- my only hesitation would be the .2ohm coils and the time it takes to go through a battery. at .5-.7 i change batteries frequently and i can't imagine how often i would have to change at the lower ohms. how much time do you get between batteries? how does the nickle coil taste compared to regular coils? how expensive are the coils and how often do you have to change them? appreciate your answers- it will help me decide whether to purchase or not.
so far everywhere i have looked only has them on pre-order- where did you get them...?

Ohms law.... its actually the opposite.

The lower resistance your build, the less voltage required to achieve the same wattage. Therefore, you will achieve longer battery life.

The higher the current, the more drain on the battery. Current = Voltage / Resistance.

Running at 20 watts on a 3 ohm coil requires 7.74 volts. (Requires 2.58 amps)
Running at 20 watts on a 0.5 ohm coil requires 3.16 volts. (Requires 6 amps)

The battery will last longer on the 3 ohm coil ...

I haven't had a chance to use the Gimlet's Ni200 coils yet. I'm using the VCT's 0.5 coils in it with SXmini for now. The build that I have in a dripper using 28 gauge Ni200 comes in @ 0.15 ohms, which is about where you want to be using nickel from what I've read. I can't comment on single battery life there, since I was using a dual 18650 Hana V4d (for the few days it worked before the display bugged out)..I really didn't get a chance to see what the full battery life was with that Ni200 build before sending the Hana in for an RMA. At this point, I'm waiting for either a replacement Hana, or the M Class to use the Gimlet's Ni200 coils..

I purchased the Gimlet @ Madvapes, but it appears to also be out-of-stock now..

GCT, Stainless

As far as taste goes.. I did get a slight metallic taste in the dripper with the Ni200.. It seemed to go-away after a couple hours of dripping..

Finally talked into it. SX Mini ordered. Snagged a couple VTC4 batteries to go with. Cannot freaking wait for my pending vapemail.

This forum is the worst thing to ever happen to my wallet. And I don't regret a thing.

that is the perfect vaping attitude and my own personal credo- vape with no regrets! can i get an amen......?

Nickel builds have a far lower resting resistance compared to Kanthal. .2ohm is actually pretty high for a nickel build. I have a .12ohm ni200 build in my Subtank mini RBA and with a dual 18650 DNA 40 mod I can go days without charging. I put fresh batteries in on Friday, and they are still over 3.8v, I will probably have to charge them tonight.

My question goes out to those that already have an SX mini S-Class. I'm not a big fan of tilt adjustments. Are there menu options only available by tilting the device? If so, will this be the case on the M-Class as well? Thx

The best alternative to the tilt adjust is the 5 memory settings you can put into the SX :D From there then you can just push 1 button to go to any of your 5 settings this is a very nice feature:thumb:

The above discussion reminds me of a question I've had about the interface...I've heard people say you don't need to go deep into the menu and use the tilt feature to adjust your wattage, if you're not scrolling through presets. I've seen posts saying you can just adjust it quickly using the buttons. Are these people referring to just changing whatever preset you're currently on?

I figure that's the case, but am just wondering if the YouTube reviews I've watched were missing something.

The "easiest" way to change the power setting is to change the wattage for whichever preset you're currently on. This is done by pressing fire > up > dn which unlocks the wattage controls, change and fire and the new setting will be saved. Going into the menu (5 clicks on the fire button) lets you use the tilt feature to change your wattage without altering your presets. I played with this for about 30 seconds but the wattage changes slowly using the tilting feature and the 5-clicks is a little overkill.

Meanwhile I actually like the button combination to unlock the power settings using the buttons. On my iPVs I tend to accidentally change my memory setting so often I don't even bother with them, but so far the extra button press has prevented me from doing this on the SX mini.

hopefully getting close for the M class ship date!

here is a reply I got from the shop I pre-ordered from;

"Yes, you were one of the first! Thanks!
I spoke with them this week and they were finalizing my color choices, so I know they are getting close. I am "hoping" they will ship towards the end of next week, but might be the beginning of the following. We are getting from their first week production run, so you'll be one of the first to get it.
I'll have another update on Monday (actually late Sunday night) if you want to touch base again next week.
Generally, we receive in just 2-3 business days after they ship, and we'll re-ship to you via USPS priority the day we get them..... right after i start playing with mine ;)"

I'll message him again tonight to see if he has heard anything over the weekend. This was from last friday.

Fingers crossed!

A trick I use to bypass the tilt/adjust is to store tank or juice specific settings in M2-M4 and just leave M1 open to adjust with buttons whenever necessary.

Ordered my SX Mini on New Year's Thursday from Vspot Vapes. YiHi SX Mini available now at Vspot Vapes
Great vendor. Got it today. Fast flat rate shipping. They even included a coin for me to unscrew the battery cap.

I got mine from the same vendor, it was the first item I bought from them and they went the extra mile to make it a pleasant experience. I ordered after the close of business hours and it was in the mail by 9:00 the next morning. Free shipping coast to coast in two days, a nice hand written note, the afore-mentioned nickel for opening the battery tube, and a handful of candy. The mod I received was the current version with v 1.3 firmware and the revised 510. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again.
