Sweet! :) The GT II is on my radar for certain.. ;) I'm also wondering what could be causing the issue some folks are experiencing.. I've actually tried to make mine screw-up since hearing about it (crazy, huh?) by repeatedly turning the device on/off, setting it to "Link" and holding the power switch down, etc... But it still works fine.

The important thing is that folks are being taken care of.. :) I'm still waiting, and ready to jump on another Mini in black when I find one in-stock.. ;)

I'm was considering buying this and replacing its board with an SX350: https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10010986/1939800-d2-dna-35-7-35w-variable-wattage-apv-box-mod

It appears to be the same enclosure you have. FT has them in several colors.

Ive been looking for these to hit the states as a kit. Hotcig has them with the window cut out and comes with all the parts like a dna modders boxs comes from FT. You can order them but you gotta buy 10, I think they were like 18 each. Maybe get a group buy or something Ive never been part of one but I'd be interested.

Sorry to hear about the problems from you guys! Please keep us posted on how things work out, and I hope you have a working Mini in your hands soon. I've cooked about 60ml of juice on mine so far, so I figure I should be out of the woods.

Generally when PCB's fail, it's within the first few hours of regular use. I worked at IBM/Pinacor briefly in the 90's doing light tech work and QA on servers and ThinkPads. I was surprised at how many components we binned on a weekly basis that were either DOA or suffered critical failure during heat soak. To this day, even with modern electronics manufacturing standards and practices, it's not entirely uncommon to get bad RAM sticks dead out of the box, even when they're made by reputable companies. And by "reputable" I mean those that guarantee they will replace the occasional faulty product at no cost to the end user.

Hopefully for YiHi these are isolated incidents and someone at the factory just got a little sloppy with the solder. Wouldn't want to see them going through the sort of mess Evolv had with the first batch of 40's. :(

finally dropped it. took it and smiled. no surprise there.

ot some musings. you know it is really commendable they are in china and speak English. they are really going places today. some people say you must speak English in usa, I disagree because it is not my first language. however to speak it in china really says they are crossing borders so to speak. perhaps many would speak it in mx being north America but I bet more speak it in china! everyone I contact there has no problem talking to me. also to say I knew more about computers than the yihi rep is unfair of me. I am somewhat of an expert. they are a ecig company not pc support. the pc support companies there do tend to know way more than me, and of course speak English too! I had bashed china but now that I know more I just can't do that anymore.

I contacted YiHi's engineers regarding the issue some folks are experiencing, and received a prompt answer.. :) I'm not allowed to post a copy due to forum rules, but it's like this:

YiHi is aware of the issue, and traced it back to some of the 1st batch of SXmini's released. It was found to be software-related, and has been addressed in the latest shipment of devices. I was told to post that folks should not worry.. The device is covered by their one year warranty, and they will offer the best after-sale service to their customers. :) They also want to thank everyone for their time, e-mails, and suggestions..

Also, they will try their best to present more and more best products... (I like the sounds of that for sure ;) )

I guess there isn't a fix or download that we could do ourselves then

There was no mention of a DIY fix... Have you tried upgrading the device to see if it works? Even if you have done it before the device gave you issues, I would run it again..

is there a way to know if you have a bad one before the warranty is over? if you update a bad one is it then fixed? I don't know if they mentioned that but if they did please say.

I was told that a "few" of the 1st batch was affected... It appears that when the issue occurs, it's soon after the device is first used. I imagine it would show up well before 1 year.. ;) As I posted, no DIY fix was mentioned.. If I had one with the issue, I would at least try to run an upgrade for piss-n-giggles to see if it corrects it. (I kind of doubt it though) If yours has been working well, I wouldn't sweat it.. I'm not.. :)

I got a first batch one and was working perfect, it was only after I updated it the issue occurred. I've tried to upgrade again a few times with no success. Is there a downgrade file, the original software v1? Maybe that would work. Just grasping at straws right now. Lol

Hmmmmm... Interesting.. How about the others experiencing issues.. Was it after the upgrade? Was the device working well before that in those cases? YiHi did state it was a software-related issue. No, I don't see the original file listed. I guess there's no reason for it since it was pre-installed on the device. Kind of sounds like a wonky BIOS chip flash on a computer, although others here (including myself) upgraded successfully..

It upgraded successfully. Worked perfect before I went to bed. Woke up and then wasn't working and all lit up displaying xsmini350 v1.3.

I explained the issue to YiHi, and they were aware of it, and said it was corrected... I would try a different USB cable if you haven't already, and try one more time.. If it's still down after that, I would just exchange it. I'm still pondering what could cause the issue in a "few" of the 1st batch, and not others, which would be software-related.. I feel for you... It would be difficult to pry mine out of my hand, but at least you'll be taken care of. :)

I will try another cable and see what happens. Thank you

To possibly "take one for the team", I just ran the upgrade again 3 times in a row. My computer recognizes the Mini when plugged into the USB port, the SXi program connects to it, and the file installed every time.. I do remove the battery from the device, not using the "Link" function.. I guess we'll see what happens.. So far, so good though.. ;) Hopefully, I won't be crying in the morning..

YiHi continually refers to their "software" and I've been calling it "firmware." If it is indeed an integrated circuit or EPROM/flash-memory based firmware (which it pretty much HAS to be for the device to retain settings the way it does), then updates could be irreversible. But again, they keep saying "software" and it's rocketing my nerd OCD clear off the scale.

I keep thinking, "Dude, just roll back to version 1.0!"
