I agree with the above posters, I'd like to see a link for clarification of this DannyBen

The link has been removed as it was in the general discussion. But what it said, and first I agree..... there is no need 99.5% of the time to ever have to adjust the center pin as its spring loaded, but.....

The user did adjust the pin. It does have a screw slot there for adjustment. That YiHi themselves acknowledged this and have already started production on a new version that will have a new pin without the screw. They have stopped shipping the old version (but obviously all inventory as of now at dealers is the old version) and will start up shipping the newer version soon.

Furthermore, they have refused to honor his warranty claiming it is user error. The same way as if he opened the device it would void the warranty, by him adjusting the "adjustable spring loaded pin" he too voided his warranty.

YiHi did solder in the Pin and it will snap. Those are the facts and i've since confirmed this with a dealer.

Oh. Well I already knew it isnt adjustable past the self sprung movement. I wouldnt call it having a flathead groove in it defective, I can see how someone may think that though and try to turn it like that guy (who I assume is the same as the post I linked).
It IS user error, I understand how he made the error but it is user error nonetheless. He should try contacting the retailer he bought it from instead of YiHi, they may replace it for him.

Exactly... Nothing about snapping pins either... :?:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...371-sxmini-mod-yihi-510-center-pin-issue.html

No mention of YiHi claiming theyre all defective though, unless theres another thread

Exactly..... he seems to be another user -- although he's not sure why & that YiHi hasnt replied to him yet. As soon as he adjusted that pin (as he states he did) it broke the unit! Snapped the solder connection.

Not the post that I was referring to, but now another user confirming.

If you read carefully, the OP did it to himself. He said he was trying to "adjust" it to fit his TOBH. Maybe he didn't realize it was a self adjusting 510. In any event, he loosened it and it came apart on him...

Yeah, the Tobh clones have long 510s, not everything sits flush on the SX Mini if its a long pin since its only 4.5mm travel, that was just something I accepted, knew it before buying the device.
Its unfortunate it happened, but its definitely not defective. And after that happening I can understand YiHi removing the flathead groove from the pin to keep anyone else from doing it.
IMO they should replace it for him though, despite being his screw up they had to figure SOMEONE would try doing it.

Any idea why the thread was removed? Thats not something moderators would usually delete.

I have slotted pins in GG and other devices which don't adjust at all if turned.. They're not threaded..just slotted. YiHi spec'd the device as having a self-adjusting pin. I wouldn't have, and didn't turn it with a screwdriver. However, I can see YiHi making a revision change to prevent folks from trying to manually adjust the pin now...

I completely agree, it's such a minuscule mishap, maybe they haven't responded to him since it just happened yesterday, but as stated, I think he should contact the retailer first. I hope he can get it all sorted out. You guys are making me nervous while I'm at work haha, I just placed an order last night for the SX, I hope everything is working fine.

That was the reason of my post..... just to warn people not to adjust that screw (for whatever reason). I am not sure why YiHi would elect to void his warranty..... it sounds like horrible bad faith on their part. but none the less that was their decision. And leads one to think will they honor their warranty on something like the board if that goes too?

Here is what was forwarded to me by my dealer who sells a ton of these......

We definitely appreciate it, and its good info to be posted here so people know DONT TURN THE DARN 510!!!
Its a smart move for YiHi to change it to all flat so it doesnt happen again.
I hope he does get it handled by the retailer at least, a lot of retailers would probably switch it out for him, or YiHi step up and replace it despite it technically being user error.

SX Mini has landed. I was expecting a black one and was kind of remorseful that I wasn't getting the gray. Well, turns out I got a gray one! This thing is built superbly. Vapes amazingly and looks awesome. The only flaw I can find on mine is a small blem on the back cover near the bottom seam. It's almost imperceptible. I think I can live with it. 510 threads are probably the nicest of any device I've owned and it feels great in the hand. Fire button is sublime and the display is sharp and bright. I really, really like this thing.

I'm also reasonably sure I need another one now.

Looks like hes not talking about Cigtech who had it for 142, hes talking about that chinese site that had it for 77, which is totally bogus

yeah im sure it is bogus! serves me right for ordering before a second coffee ;) it'll be interesting to see how this plays out. i'm not worried though, I used paypal and I have 180 days to file a dispute :)
