SXmini mod ... Yihi

I am really excited about this new temp controlled board from Yihi and want a dual battery mod with this new board in it. I started designing a delrin box for this board today incase Yihi does not offer such a mod. The shape is going to be a modified triangle that is only 1 & 7/8 inches wide and 1 & 3/4 inches thick with a height of less than 4 inches.

X1!!! :D But seriously though. I would love something exactly like that and I was thinking it would be the best configuration. Please keep us posted on your progress.

Had my mini a week or two now, and had no problems what so ever till today, unplugged it from charging, and put my Marquis on it and it wouldn't fire and seemed the screen was froze, so took battery out and put back in and all I got now is 'sx350mini V1.3' and just stays on the screen all the time.

It connected to my computer, nothing came up on the screen when had it connected, but not sure if it is meant too, I tried downgrading to V1.2 which didn't help, so went back to V1.3 and still just stuck on that same screen, any ideas please?????

First thing is to contact the vendor that you bought it from and make sure you register the device for the warranty.

Oh snap, where do we register it for the warranty? Just on the site? I didn't even think about that.

Sorry, I should have looked myself. I don't see anyplace to register the device. It really sux that you're having this problem. I hope you get good results from your vendor.

Wanted a picture of the failure, once I provided that they directed me to return ship and once received they will ship out a replacement the same day.

Perhaps I just received a bad unit but I'll be quite careful working around that USB charging port from this point on. Obviously I never abused it but requiring constant tension on the charging cable leads me to believe the port attachment point on the main circuit board failed.

I'll let all know when I receive the replacement.

Yea, it seems Dems problem started after he used the USB port too. I generally charge my batteries on the charger and will make sure to continue to stay away from the USB.

Could you try to this? Remove the battery, then connect the USB cable (make sure its a good quality one) load up the SXI software hit connect reflash the V1.3.1 sxi (its V1.3 on the mini screen) once it has completed. Remove the USB cable and then reinsert the battery.

Thanks for the suggestion, but tried that and still stayed on the firmware screen, screen never turns off unless take the battery out.

Yes it did, not contacted yet, seeing if anyone had any ideas to start with.

Gotcha. Hopefully you can revive it. If not, keep us updated on how the warranty process is handled.

Have you tried inserting the battery with the fire button held down? That's what brings up the firmware version screen... maybe it will kick it in the pants. Certainly couldn't hurt.

From what I have read that screen is supposed to come on when you insert the battery while holding down the fire button. Could the fire button be sticking?

    rounding third and heading home...
this is already my favorite mod(by far)- now add more color choices, an upgraded 510 connection, and temp control for under $200? i see another sx mini in my future...can't wait to hear what the naysayers have to say about the addition of temp control to the best board(imho)being produced....should be interesting......

i would humbly suggest a knurled battery cap(similar to the ipv mini) as a much needed improvement-as much as i love this mod the coin operated cap is just a PITA and definitely needs to be changed-hope you are listening YIHI.......
