Thanks for the suggestion, but tried that and still stayed on the firmware screen, screen never turns off unless take the battery out.
this is already my favorite mod(by far)- now add more color choices, an upgraded 510 connection, and temp control for under $200? i see another sx mini in my future...can't wait to hear what the naysayers have to say about the addition of temp control to the best board(imho)being produced....should be interesting......
i would humbly suggest a knurled battery cap(similar to the ipv mini) as a much needed improvement-as much as i love this mod the coin operated cap is just a PITA and definitely needs to be changed-hope you are listening YIHI.......
I would definitely not buy one if it had a ZNA and others knurled battery cap! Thats why it sits flatYou could use a thumb machined cap but those knurled caps are just to ZNA and I had enough of those!
Vaping everyone has an opinion and there has never been the perfect mod and never will!
OK..... Here's the news i heard last night.....
1. Yet again another product change. New 510 with a polished finish exterior ring.
2. New color choices... a) Silver w/Black Sleeve, b) Silver w/Grey Sleeve, c) Black w/White Sleeve, d) Grey w/White Sleeve, e) Gold w/White and f) Silver w/ Rose
3. New MAP pricing of $199 (for ALL new units -- including Temp Control)
4. Colors start shipping beginning of February, Temp Control unit Mid-March
my point is to come up with an easier way to change the battery- i don't see why a knurled cap couldn't be designed to still keep the sx mini flat-doesn't seem like a tremendous leap in engineering. i am looking at my ipv mini standing flat right now and it has a knurled cap that is easy to open and close. i just think the coin is tedious and one day me or someone is going to cross-thread and ruin the end cap. there has got to be a better way and i am willing to bet i am not alone with this thinking. like i said, i still love thesx mini i just think it could improve in this area......
Gotcha. Hopefully you can revive it. If not, keep us updated on how the warranty process is handled.
Have you tried inserting the battery with the fire button held down? That's what brings up the firmware version screen... maybe it will kick it in the pants. Certainly couldn't hurt.
From what I have read that screen is supposed to come on when you insert the battery while holding down the fire button. Could the fire button be sticking?

Same here, haven't used a coin since day one. All that's needed it's your thumb and some pressure, works great.I think I used a coin the first time I got it, and haven't done it since. The way the battery interacts with the cap and the spring, all you have to do is push a little with your thumb flat on the cap while turning and you can open it pretty easily without using anything.
I got my money backI need a coin, but I have arthritis.
Nelson, whatever became of that sx mini you ordered from China?

Take a little longer one time and see exactly where it threads. If you learn threading placement you should be good to go. I'm very light with it and once the threads hit I push down with a decent amount of pressure and turn with my thumb.well, i just tried that method and got a bloody thumb for my effort- it is sharp inside the coin slot if anyone was wondering. i now use the band-aid and coin method and it is still a PITA....

Nailz, have you tried these (together with screwing the battery cap tight)?
if you did it, and ensured your fire button is not sticking (mechanic issue), and you've updated the firmware (chip software issue), and its behavior is the same, i agree with ZeroOhm: warranty issue, there is some problem in the board.
hope you can get a fixed one asap
The trick is to tighten it with your thumb. If you tighten it with a coin it doesn't work.
