Retrox's wraps look ded sexy, but I'm going to keep running my nekkid for now. It's how I run my iphone, so I've carried that over to my mods as well. Let it all hang out I say. ;)

EDIT: Oh and congrats Roxy! So glad you scored one. Hope it meets your expectations. Mine is still rocking like a champ.

Update; after not even a full day with the new sxmini, my gravity sensor/accelerometer has broken... It keeps exiting(is stuck in down position) . So bye bye sx . I hope no one else is having these issues

What an awful experience for you, Jeff. Sorry to hear about it, and I can't say I blame you one bit for moving on after two duds in a row. Thankfully there are plenty of other great devices out there to choose from. Would you happen to know if those units were from an early batch that shipped with v1.2 firmware?

peraspera: Rest assured my motivations for wanting to take a look inside the mini are purely selfish and I'm prepared to shoulder the consequences. Rather, I will be prepared. Soon. Maybe.

Nikkita6: As sharp as those carbon fibre JWraps are, I do prefer the nekkid look for this particular device, even the black one. Especially the grey one. Might go ahead and order a couple of clear wraps just in case something tragic happens to the carbon fibre ones. Cuz you never know.

Certainly is a run of bad luck.. I've been following the device daily from forums world-wide, and have seen NO issues to date, other than the initial ones reported with the 1st batch units. I don't see the SXmini listed on DV's site.. I guess they're keeping it in-store only for their customers... It would be helpful to know which firmware revision your affected units were. I'm certain that YiHi would appreciate the info for QC purposes.

Mine has been issue-free after constant use for over a month now.. I even have one of the 1st batch units.. **knock-wood**

EDIT: I would also like to know how DV (or other vendors) would deal with a defective unit if the customer insisted on an exchange, and they had no stock... Say within 2-3 months of purchase. Folks have been lucky that units were in-stock for exchange when the 1st batch issue popped-up. I am curious how the 1 year warranty would be addressed. I imagine the device would need to be returned to China?.. Who would be responsible for return shipping? Will the vendor handle a warranty exchange for the customer within the year?

This is about the only concern that I have regarding the SXmini.. From what I gather, Innokin will have a warranty repair center in the States to service their devices with Evolv boards.. It would be great to see something similar from YiHi, given the price of the SXmini.. ;)

I knew I couldnt be the only one doing this lol. I fished the web for every SX Mini thread on every forum in every country. I also havent seen ANYONE have issues except the couple firmware locks here and Jeffs terrible luck =(

As for the wraps, I generally like the look of wrapped things, hell I have ROLLS about 20 colors of carbon wrap here. The reason I dont think it looks good on the Mini is it squares all of its edges, the Mini is such a streamlined rounded look the wrap ruins its lines, IMO of course.

Just as a reminder to folks who may be experiencing problems with the gravity sensor, this may be a possible solution:

Maybe when i get mine in hand I'll change my mind but I'm sure hoping this disassembles easly. I'm not sold on the finish or wraps, I have some colors in mind for a powdercoat. I'm counting the days and I've never mentioned vape mail before now.

Retrox
What's up with your power buttons, is that a black brushed wrap or?

So...

Mine came in yesterday and I haven't been able to really use it much but from a fresh VTC5 yesterday at 5:00PM till now, battery is still at 4.01 volts.

I have a question on charging...

Will it be OK to plug the device in when not in use to keep a battery "topped off" or will that hurt the battery. Not sure what effects it would have to not go through a full discharged-to-charged cycle. I don't plan on carrying spare batteries any more and don't want to get caught short. I'm going to carry my GP Paps as a backup/stealth option for my Kayfun but just trying to minimize my daily hardware requirements....

Perfectly fine... :) It's actually a good idea to keep an IMR battery topped-off, compared to leaving it in a discharged state (3.6v and below) for prolonged periods..

EDIT: I routinely run mine down to around 3.3v before recharging. I have some IMR batteries which are around 2 years old, and still work well. However, I choose not to use the SXmini's charger... I find that my XTAR VP1 does a better job that results in more runtime. ;)

rounding third and heading home...
gosh, all these pictures of wraps has me torn. i just love the carbon fiber look in some of these photos but my sx is so beautiful in all its naked glory i am afraid it would get mad and develop "glitches".... since i will have a second one maybe the solution is to leave one bare and wrap the other? either way, after a week of intense vaping i remain a total devotee. this device has has continued to impress me day after day and ,believe me, i am not one easily wowed by all the hype these devices generate. THIS has lived up to my expectation and then some. can't wait to see what yihi has up their sleeves for future products. can't imagine what they could do if they actually built a really expensive mod because this one is a bargain....

my only nitpick with the display- since they already show the real-time battery charge why bother with the battery picture? seems redundant. maybe some other piece of useful info could be there instead although i can't think of anything(maybe track my stocks perhaps?).....

Thanks, that makes sense...

I'm gonna put this one through a full cycle just to see what to expect out of a full charge. Who knows, maybe it will be a non-issue and I'll just charge nightly with my i4 Intellicharger...

I've been toying with the thought of purchasing a wrap... For my next SXmini. ;) I've been using this one so much in the past month, that it already has a few nicks on the edges here and there from dropping it.
