Looks like 2015 will be an interesting year.. There will be good options available for all budgets.
EDIT: I originally posted about a vendor's e-mail regarding the ipv4 including temp-protection.. They were mistaken, and have apologized for the error.. It wouldn't surprise me to see YiHi include the feature soon though..
Didn't take long for YIHI to make it happen.
They are making available a 100 watt board/chip with temp control and it appears it will be in the ipv4 when it is released around the first of April.

I'm really surprised at both VS and Evolv, they've both figured out a way to destroy their rep over the past year or so.
Not even year, I got one from the very first batch of rDNA40s from VS, it was in October. While I totally lucked out and mine is issue free, that definitely wasn't the case for many others, whether from VS or other mod makers.

After two years off cigarettes thanks solely to this technology, I'm finally at a point where I have obtained what I consider to be my perfect vaping experience. New stuff is still coming out, and people are still saying how much "better" this thing is than that other thing. While I found many of those claims to be true back in the days when the Stardust clearomizer was all the rage, it seems like we're rapidly approaching a threshold of diminishing returns with vaporizer hardware in regards to quality vaping experience. Soon we'll be at a point where devices can only improve by getting smaller and/or lasting longer between charges and/or simply delivering a greater degree of convenience to the end user. Actually, we're kind of already at that point!
The stuff coming out now will scale well into the future far more so than those crummy old CE-style clearomizers did. I'm confident that I'll get years of use out of my mini's. Once we have more information on the potential health risk reductions due to temp control, that may change, but for now...

It's funny but I had this exact same conversation with my best friend, just a few days ago. I purchased a Mini, used, and love it. I realized even before it got here though, I want for nothing. I've one awesome mod after another, and my collection is quite modest in comparison to most (or at least "many").

Even though the SXmini is one of the best mods I've had the pleasure of owning in 4+ years, I couldn't dismiss the upcoming M Class, and the opportunity to experience YiHi's implementation of temp-protection in the SX350J. Since Evolv has released the DNA 40, I have read much in regards to the tech, and how it could potentially be beneficial to my health.
I concluded that there's no need to wait for study results to inform me that VG / PG / flavorings do have a maximum temp-point, after which, harmful emissions of various nasties will be emitted. I also know that regardless of how carefully I build, and take care in how well wicked my attys are, that I cannot totally prevent this from occurring.
Temp-protection is a very welcome advancement in vaping-tech to me, and I am embracing it. If indeed YiHi's TP solution can keep temps within +- 10 degrees of the displayed temp, (as tested and reported in Vegas) my decision to purchase the upcoming SXminiJ M Class is a logical progression, given that I'm entirely into vaping as a reduced-harm alternative to tobacco smoking.
Am I finished shopping?.. Oh, hell no.. To be fair and unbiased, I still need to own and use an Evolv DNA 40 device to compare over YiHi's TP tech.. I'm the type of person who needs to personally experience both, and post intelligently regarding both, without any flag-waving in favor of one I haven't used.. That said, the Hana V4d (dual 18650) DNA 40 I recently ordered (blemished special for $179.99) will be here today.. I'll know it inside and out before the M Class arrives.. Let the comparison commence....

I put that on evolv. It's not like VS can sit and test every mood that goes out the door. I actually sold my sx mini and bought the rDNA. I gotta say, I'd rather deal with the jumbled screen than the sx mini battery cap and subpar charging port.
I'd rather deal with a device that has an accurate, real-time battery voltage display, an accurate depiction of battery sag, bypass option, the ability to upgrade firmware myself, and the option of 3 VERY useful power modes.
As for the battery cap.. I use my thumb to remove it. Not an issue for me. I haven't had a USB port failure, although I really don't use it much... Look around at the threads on various devices, (all ends of the $$ spectrum) and one will see USB port failures are a common occurrence.
I noticed that the USB port on the M Class looks to be of better construction than the S Class (going by the close-up pics available).The SXmini isn't for everyone.. I'm glad you found something that you like..

Oh, I loved the sx mini. Just prefer the shark right now. I'm sure after the reviews come rolling in I'll grab the m class as well. I tend to rotate through devices like water. Gotta ditch them before the market depreciates.

Speaking of usb ports I've been using mine from day one for charging with no problems. Not too worried about it since Yihi has a one year warranty and their dealers make good easy enough. I wonder just how much of a problem the usb has been for them.
It doesn't seem to be a widely reported issue with this device. Hell, I have one of the first batch of Joyetech eGrip's, which are notorious for USB port failures, and haven't had any problems, despite plugging it in almost every night since last October.. Go figure huh?
The thing i like about the sx mini is that the 510 pin has a strong spring to ensure a secure positive connection for ni200 builds.

I still use my IPV Mini too. I like the form, obviously, quite a lot.
I put getting the SX Mini on hold. The $139.00 price tag on the rDNA was just too good to pass up.
Might be skipping the M class all together and hoping YiHi will eventually figure kanthal into the temp control equation.

I wanted a tool for the battery cap. change was a great idea so you are not without a screw driver. my fudge hands keep dropping the nickel. I tried a stubby screwdriver but the blade was too thin. the answer must be right in front of me. lot's of things with that edge but you can't spend them.
