I don't get it? is there something wrong with it I don't know about? it is not a clone if that is what you meant. if the joke is on me, man what else can I do wrong.

still, save for the paint the sx mini is a very good mod. certainly qualifies as high end. I realized what killed my paint. the darn l
leaking atlantis. I had a bad gasket. still, you would think a mods coating could handle juice.

edit: okay I get it. my rants about the dna40. I meant the fit and finish is what I like. of course I do see now there were lot's of bad ones. I can't win. this is like a game show. how much cash can I flush down the toilet. I am sorry I jumped to that conclusion.
I guess it was april fools after all and as usual I am the fool.

at least yihi got the chip right. seriously anything with yihi is a good mod. paint does not make the mod work. I was just sad about it.

Just playing with you. To me, I wouldnt even think of going that route and spending 50% more none then less, but thats why there is more then just one company making mods, Different strokes. Would be like trading in a Porsche that had a scratch on the door for a new Cadillac.

I've only seen 2 or 3 people mention finish issues, and i think all related to the leaking juice. Seems only to be an issue on the black sleeves and not the Grey??? I have both and can tell you the grey is a more smoother finish (probably anodized(?)) while the black is a rough bumpy texture.

the vapor flask is not perfect after spending a few hours with it. I mean the body. the evolve you know what I think. regardless of my paint I guess there is nowhere else to look at this point. the sx mini remains the best mod due to the chip that's in it. the chip may die eventually but thus far it has lasted longer than any electronic mod I have owned. of which there have been many. many dead that is. the shroud not fitting completely snug by 1mm I honestly do not care about. now that I fixed my leak I will get the m-class. I need look no further. the sx mini is not perfect but overall it is the closest thing I have known. the istick 50 also proved to be worth $50 but $200 is a different game. china is really at the forefront now. save for some poorly made clones. some of the legit stuff has really come into it's own. the sx mini stands at the top and yihi should be proud of it. I figured I was going to dump it but I came right back. you really can't do better right now and it is nothing to sneeze at.

Fascinating reading the thread, I love all the mod bashing that's what us vapers do right? ;)

Must be like when I smoked and stood next to another smoker and bashed there smokes wrong brand, wrong filter, wrong tobbaco and wrong length;)

I will probably get warned or flamed for my post but life is way to short to care ultimately its just opinions mine, yours and the whole of you picky vapers out there;)

I have no issues knocking the SX Mini and I originally purchased 3 ;) Its been exactly 1 year to the day since I got my 1st box mod (A custom 26650 YiHi SX350 then 30W) since then I have bought and sold over 60 VW box mods of almost every flavour. Some mass produced some bespoke the bespoke boxes mostly had a good finish, fire buttons and 510s but I cried when I opened them up! To this day most don't use cradles because glue is cheap;) and don't even mention hot glue you might aswell shoot me in the face!

Now a bespoke VW box here in the UK costs $US200-500 and even more for example a genuine Carlos Creations Zero (which at best is 8/10 overall) sure the wood/frame is nice but construction and wiring is OK for the cost I am being generous and score it 6/10)

I bought genuine new rDNAs $220, Hana's $250 and Vaporflasks $350, ZNAs etc all sent back or sold due to crappy build quality, hot glue, button rattle, 510s and loose USB ports.

Never had or held a mod that was perfect and given the high price some of these premium units cost you don't expect these faults.

After testing many many mods I still like the SX mini sure the paint is crap although all of mine were fine and the one i have left has dremmel marks where I tried to sort the 510;) the 510 is fisher price and the fire button is sprung with compressed foam. With regard to the wiring its 16/14AWG (I forget;)) and is far neater than a lot of mods, the soldering is Chinese grade but solder has never been the same since the regulation changes away from the old lead/tin stuff we all loved.

The amount of choice now available is amazing to think I paid $300 before I got into box mods for a Svoemesto Semovar in January 2014 which looks like a relic from the 80's now;)

The demand for low cost and high quality has made some of us unreasonable in our expectations given how far we have come in a relatively short space of time. Everyone is looking for the sweet spot wanting to pay less and less for pristine quality which rolling the dice you may get a good unit out of Chinese QC you may not;)

Its been over 3 months since I got this mini 90% of the time I use it on a boat which is not the most gentle of environments ;)
For any mod I tried in its price range Its been a solid mod not perfect but unless someone wants to build one and I am sure it would cost $1000+++ and not have a evolv DNA 40 in it! Go ahead build one and send it to me! (not to quote 'field of dreams')

I tried the ileafs 20W and 50W the 20W I powered up for 1 min truly horrible and sold it the same day the 50W is OK for the money ($70 here in the UK) but its ugly and unrefined;) it lasted 1 hour before I got rid of it. I could go on and on but I am bored of my own voice. :p

@nic_fix
I would like to build you a ruggerdized box if I had the time but my life has other ideas. What sort of enviroment do you use your mod in? And are you sure its not Snake Oil you are vaping that stripped the paint off your sx mini!;)

I don't get the rant. I ultimately said the sx mini is pretty much as good as you can get right now. the chip is stellar. I did say that. the body is not perfect but it is as good as anything else in it's price range.

I think I know why they painted it. it might be stainless and not aluminum! I already said it was my juice leak that destroyed the paint. you would think they would make it to withstand juice spills. yes, I did bash it because I was upset. it is human nature. people will defend things they own. as long as they are functioning. take that away and all the suddon they are on amazon leaving comments.

I did not actually realize how bad I got about it. in the end I realized nothing is perfect.

anyways I think I solved my problem. I present to you the brushed stainless sx mini. I rather like it. moreso than the paint in fact. you can say my job sucks. it probably does in fact. I am now once again happy with it.

I return you to your regularly schedualed broadcast:

I see nothing worth bashing, Zero - just the opposite in fact. And Nic, nice recovery. Good potential info too.

I'm pleased with the mod so far. I have a favorite that nothing will ever top, but I'm a low wattage vaper so its 34w is plenty for me. But I really like this Mini a lot, and am using it a lot.

Like I said previously, there's nothing that a nice wrap won't fix. I don't buy mods for the aesthetic value. For those who do, I wouldn't recommend this one.

But if form & performance steer your boat, this one's way up on the charts.

my only issue was the paint. which i rectified. as for evolve i just did not have good luck. i hope no one reads into my statements wrong. the sx mini is a fine device. really anything that keeps us from smoking will suffice. there is no reason to be critical of these things. i hope no one reads what i said to the contrary. if so i apologize.

@nic_fix

Apologies if it seems I was having a go at you it wasn't meant as a personal attack in anyway, as said I was ranting somewhat ;)

I have owned 7 SX350 and SX350 mini mods my oldest SX350 has just clocked a year and been upgraded to 60W and used in around 4 or 5 different builds.
I never had a 350 board fail on me yet, I cracked a screen with some hot glue on removal but this was my fault.

The Yihi boards have been solid if a little unattractive with there black epoxy on them YiHi trying not to show and tell;)

So I think the boards are all good for how long I can't say I have been running a evolv DNA30 for longer but that's like a distant memory compared to the DNA40s.

The SX mini looks like a cast ALU C chassis and the cover is made from steel.

I know the chassis is ALU as Yihi used small steel m1.6?? screws. To mount the switch and main board and these will strip the chassis holes just by looking at them;)

I expected the paintjob to have worn far worse by now I now don't carry it in a case and still apart from drilling marks ;) its all good I only every had the grey finish and someone else said it felt a different texture to the black finish so there maybe a different process at work with them. The best finishes I have seen for hardwearing have been powdercoating and cerakote both here are expensive the cerakote probably the cost of the mod again!;)

I would like to polish it up but metalworking is not my strong point unless I send it off ;)

A vaper and modder I know polished his the same day he received his and worked those sharp corners ;)

Give it a good finish it will be good as new;)

i can't join in, as i don't have one yet. But would just like to say; I was reading the thread on the Lemo deciding if i want one. Someone posted a pic of there Lemo on the SX Mini. Right away i posted asking what you call it. It's the SX Mini someone replies, right away off to google searching for it. I am vaping just over a year now, and like many others, have bought a few, well a fair number of different VW devices, mech's, tanks,....
This is the first one i wanted because i loved the look of it. Add a some positive comments that i read here, some review videos, and I want this thing. Pre-ordered the new M-Class in Feb with expected ship date "Mid March". Now that has turned into Mid April. Anyhow, i want it !.

that's the thing. the paint came off but the chip has lasted longer than anything else I have had. that camera is junk. I used a disk grinder. than getting finer and finer sand paper up to 2000. then I used a orbital buffer with butchers wax. it looks very good imo. oh you mad, why do you say the pic is trolling. I know it is not a good pic but I am not sure I can take a better one. but I wil try

okay I am an idiot. tonight I got the limited edition hana. I like collecting mods so whatever. no matter what I get that is more expensive it reminds me why I prefer the yihi.
a collection is one thing but the yihi is the one I actually use. besides the quality, the ergonomics are first class. the hana is an ergonomic nightmare for one. soon I should be able to add it to the rest of the dead ones anyways. the only saving grace with custom mods is they will repair them for life. I do not know about sending stuff to china. it does not matter though because the yihi does not quit. I actually prefer it naked. the paint detracted from it anyways imo. I am sorry I cannot take a better pic but I think you all get the idea. I had an idea if someone else wants to do that and does not like the brushed look. use solvent spirits. I think the brushed is handsome in an industrial way. you could pay $$$ for a dunhill lighter in that dress.

I don't think you have to send the SX Mini back to China for warranty bud .... yet another plus.

The ergo-friendly shape of the SX Mini is most definitely an appealing factor and one of the main reasons I was looking at it to begin with. However something in my mind kept whispering about going for a smaller box mod and as soon as I saw the Vapor Shark rDNA "scratch n dent" sale I felt like I had to pounce. Don't regret it one bit as the only scratch I was able to find is on the inside battery compartment, UNDER the battery, with zero issues with my chip.

I continue to follow the SX Mini storyline however because I know this family of device is in my near future. YiHi very simply, seems to be a force to reckon ... with high potential. Can't wait to see what is after the M Class!

I like the vaporshark box better than hana and vaporflask. both of which are three times the price. even these mods leave something to be desired by me. like I said the main thing about the sx mini is the chip. I got the vapor flask and hana le this week understanding I already have dead examples of both. I just like them. I feel I can count on the sx mini as my one reliable device. maybe I am just unlucky with dna40.

do you know of yihi having us support? my dealer is certainly not going to replace it now lol. I like the brushed better anyways.

I have been using my SXMini since December. Use a Port beta for my ADV, and my SXMini for dripping in the evenings with an Origen dripper by Norbert (my fav dripper) and low nic liquids. I don't visit ECF much anymore, but happened on this thread. How do I know what version of software I have running? Are there updates, and it seems it requires windows to do so?

Service on the SX Mini is done through the vendor.

I will caution though that there has been atleast one person charged a fee for repair work on their device ... despite having the warranty.

YiHi needs to really figure out their warranty situation and make clear with the consumer on how it works ... especially at this price range.

rounding third and heading home...
i have my extension tubes coming from yihi. i have the latest firmware in my devices. does anyone know if there is anything else i must do besides screw on the extension tube and add 2 batteries? will it recognize 2 batteries are attached and go up to 120 watts or is there some other method for unlocking the board to reach the highest wattage? sorry for the ignorance, i just don't wish to fry anything and there doesn't seem to be anything written about it anywhere on the yihi site. appreciate the help....
