Well I am still amazed at the battery life. I'm getting around 70K J on the Q same battery on the M around 28K. This thing is amazing. Somehow I am getting almost 2 1/2 times the battery life on 2 HG2's. I don't know if this board has something to do with it or what but I was expecting about 1 1/2 times getting way over that. They did good with this one.
I'm getting amazing battery life too. I think the 450 board is more efficient than the 350 board.
That would be my guess as well. I've heard the Mini's weren't overly efficient. In general buck circuits are more efficient than boost. Since the Q has two batteries in series, it's most likely always bucking voltage so you are probably seeing more efficient results. I don't have them to run tests, but it sounds like a reasonable theory to me :D. I'm happy to hear you guys are enjoying them!

Cheers,
Steve

The battery life on this mod is great for me as well. I'm getting 3 days of battery life when I use it.
I'm not using all day long due to the annoying rattle with the battery door. I thought I had it fixed by putting some cotton in the holes for the posts on the panels. That worked for a while but the rattle came back. It's really annoying, must trigger some OCD I didn't know I have. I also tried cutting the ribbon for the batteries. I contacted Varitube and they want me to make a video and upload. I'd love to find someone to take the board and build a housing for it.
I'm just too damn picky.

I decided not to get this one. Yet! But that rattle would be a deal breaker for me. It would drive me crazy.

It is !!!!
The board is second to none. Accurate, and efficient.
Actually I decided to send it back to Varitube. I'm going contact them in the morning. I'll pay for the shipping both ways.
If nothing can be done so be it. Maybe he/Perry can make it stop rattling.
I also a loose screw on the battery sled that attaches to the frame.
Not the end of the world.

Yeah it sounds like you have too much OCD. I've gotten use to it and it doesn't bother me because it only does it when you push on the panels. However I have wondered about another solution and that would be something sticky into the holes like a tiny piece of Play-Doh, or that flexible weatherstripping clay, or chewing gum, or 3M tape. The ideas are endless but you get the idea. Just need something sticky that will stay in place.

I had the rattle you all speak of but it left within a few hours, to a day later. It was as if the magnets settled. All gone now. Hope you all have the same effect happen with yours.

Has anyone heard of any SX covers yet, for this?
I spoke to one of the few B+ M stores where I live yesterday but they have not yet heard of any either.

Edit: Saw one US store mentioned 2 pages back but i dont see any covers there

I don't know if anyone will come out with sleeves for it because you would have to take it off every time to replace the batteries.

I will look them up. Knowing that the store i purchased my Q, ML and M from is a well known SX Mini dealer, and they are looking for a manufacturer of them, does suggest to me they aren't coming out with one. i could be wrong but I would assume a recognized dealer would have had a shipping date by now. Thanks. Will check them out. Looking for a black ML case as well. So far all I see are ones with lines down the face plate.

Mine has play in the panel when holding it. Every time I I adjust the mod in my hand the panel rattles. Side to side on the side that comes off to replace the batteries. I've had mine for 6 weeks or more so I don't think it's going to go away at this point. Some sort of molding putty would probably work.
I'm certainly not suggesting that others should not get this mod. Hopefully it's just a handful with minor issues.

I could be wrong and someone is working on a sleeve but if it works like the M and ML sleeves you would have to take the tank off and then slide the sleeve off to change the batteries. Seems like more work than most people will want to go through.

Can see it being trouble if it's the only mod one uses and changes batteries daily. I have the M, ML and Q now, as well as a couple evics, picos so i dont use any one mod full time. I would think that there are plenty out there like myself who would be willing to deal with the small sacrifice. At least i hope so!

I guess I'm lazy and wouldn't want to be bothered with taking the tank and sleeve off. At least they sell new panels if I ever tare up mine. :)

Varitube carries the authentic SX sleeve for the ML, and M. I bought a bunch from them.
The one for the ML is great because you don't have mess with the sleeve to replace the battery.

No, there won't be any silicone covers for the Q, at least according to an email response i just received from Yihi.

Think that is a mistake on their part. They might not have been as successful as the M and ML covers but they still would have sold to many of us but i guess they believe they will make more on extra doors.
Two different products, at least in my opinion. :(

Get Scotch removable mounting putty from an art store or dollar store.
