Thank you all for your advice and help!
After drinking nearly two bottles of water he started to feel much better. Still a slight shakiness to his hands but nowhere near as bad as earlier. By the time he went to lay down (he works midnights), he was 90% better. Hopefully, he'll remember to lay off the Diet Pepsi at work tonight and drink more water.

Question - for myself, would it be ok to use one of those "singles to go" packs they sell for bottled water now? I have some Wyler's Raspberry and wondered if there's any ingredients in those that might make dehydration worse? I know it's being put into water, but there's water in Diet Pepsi too, and we see where that got my husband
Just want to make sure I'm not causing myself more harm than good using those packets - hope not, because I really don't care for plain ol' H2O :nah:

They tend to have aspertame in them, unfortunately. I haven't found any with sucralos in them, LMK if you find some. You could make your own mix of sucralos(Splenda, or 99 cent store no name brand) with a sugar free flavor of your choice. I make my own cola sometimes, and I use sucralos when I do that.

I drink a ton of ginger ale - no caffiene in that and its fizzy (I cant drink the dark ones cos of the trace iodine I was told was in them -not good for my thyroid lol) and lots of fruit juices cos I find plain water is boring too:)

I wish I enjoyed Ginger Ale :( Fruit juices we can do, along with Powerade/Gatorade. We need to find a happy medium with our Diet Pepsi intake though. Someone on this thread mentioned having water, then pop, then water, then pop, then water. Seems funny to some, but when you drink as much pop as we do, it might be a good idea to try.
I can't even imagine going through caffeine withdrawals as well as cig withdrawals - Lordy we'd kill eachother!!

Well wouldn't ya know - the stuff I enjoy isn't going to be too beneficial :( I just looked at the packets I have and yep, sure enough, aspartame in them. I will try your method though, sounds interesting -- oooh yay, more experimenting

Plenty of sugar free coolaid and such around. Should be able to find a taste you like. :)

You can get plain flavoured electrolytes and you can add them to anything liquid, electrolytes are what they give children when they get sick and dehydrated that's why I started taking them, this is why I suggested sports drinks cause they hydrate faster than water does! Tastes good too, I am not a big fan of plain ol' water either and much prefer pop! However I have discovered that since my tastebuds are coming back I'm not as fond of it as I used to be!

OH I can't wait for my tastebuds to come back!! What a happy day that will be!

I think I will stock up on some sugar free kool-aid and some powerade. Seems the best solution for our picky tastebuds right now. :) Thanks everyone!!! You guys have been extremely helpful. :thumb:

Artificial sweeteners of ANY kind are sooooo bad for you! Check it out at mercola.com click on the truth about artificial sweeteners. It's absolutely frightening! I was drinking 4-6 Diet Pepsis a day. Now I drink water or Iced tea sweetened with Stevia. Aspartame has its own set of medical problems alot of which came to light for me when I quit smoking.

Splenda(sucralos) is an extract of sugar and is not considered an articial sweetener. BTW, most if not all e-liquids have some amount of sweetener used. my :2cents:

Mine have come back about 60 days out. You are in for a treat. I didn't know that black coffee, by itself, was strangely sweet... but it is....

Yes, but the dosage is miniscule in comparison to the amount of aspartame in a diet soda. It is also maltodextrin a form of dextrose sold at health food stores. Unless you mix ur own!! I'm not here to start an argument. We all (or MOST of us) switched to vaping for health reasons, I could write and entire page on the side effects of aspartame poisoning from the viewpoint of a sufferer. This would include the loss of vision which is slowly returning after three months without a DP! The absence of lower back pain is quite refreshing as are the return of motor skills. Not to mention not walking around in a cloud anymore (outside of my vapors). I am becoming far more health conscious. I didn't have a flag to fly when I was all into health except for smoking and drinking diet pop. Now I do. I DON"T SMOKE!!! AND I DON"T DRINK DIET POP!! Here's why: it is more than 9 kinds of bad for you!!

Oh, I am with you on aspartame. Nasty stuff. But as far as Splenda goes, I think it is one of the best alternatives to sugar. Stevia might be better, but it is cost prohibitive because it is still a specialty item. I didn't mean to argue w/ you...just providing additional info that people might want to know.

The caffeine and heat might be an attributing factor, but you also have to realize you ARE NOT getting about 3996 chemicals that your body is used to getting.

If it gets bad, have an analog---some people just have to baby steps.

Agreed ! Keep a pack with you unless you feel the nicotine demon, vape !
Hot weather work, lack of nicotine, fluid loss, loss of appetite.
Been there before vaping ! Working in a Forge facility in the heat of summer.
Drink fluids , cool down, and eat a good meal !

Nice read !

Never used sweetners of these types before vaping (to my knowledge anyway) only sugar.
So the general consensus is use Splenda (sucralos) if you require a sweetner ?

Ethyl Maltol is commonly used as a juice sweetener, and several of the suppliers sell it. Unfortunately, I know nothing about the side effects(if any) of this sweetener. I have only heard one person on this forum(don't remember the thread) speak out against it's use. But he never substantiated his claim with published facts. I just use sucralose because it is very cheap, and reletively safe. I also like it in my ice tea. :) Which is why I had it on hand. You can usually find the stuff at the 99 cent only store, they also havee nutrasweet commonly, but I haven't messed w/ that so can't recomend it.
