Halo LongHorn

If you ever had a Middleton's Black and Mild "Mild" then you get the basic idea. A light mix of pipe tobacco wrapped in a cigar wrapper. That is the idea and Halo executes it a thousand times better. There is a slight earthy taste to it with a hint of chocolate (or caramel) and either cream or vanilla. It is a very smooth vape that tastes like high end tobacco compared to Middleton's floor sweepings and compressed paper. It also has a nice bit of complexity. As with all of Halo's offerings, it needs to sit for a day or two with the top off before vaping.

It also produces a very distinctive smell. When I was vaping my wife commented that it smelled "too much" like a cigar. It will definitely get noticed by others. Even at a distance of ten feet she said the scent was obvious on every exhale. It didn't bother me. I found the aroma pleasing. However, you may want to keep it in mind if you're trying to stealth vape or vape indoors.

I will definitely be buying more. I liked this stuff enough to nearly empty the cartomizer in about 2.5 hours.

I really liked that one for a couple bottles. Haven't placed a Halo order in a really long time.

Just filled up an Aro with something I haven't had in a while, Indigo Vapor Dawn to Dusk. I don't know what it is, but the first time I had it, it had a slight cherry tobacco note, even though the description is tobacco and coffee. I hate cherry, but this became my first ADV. For the first time (and I'm on my 2nd 30mL of this), NOW I taste the coffee!

This bottle was mixed on 8/24/13 (didn't realize it was that old!!) and I still taste the cherry which may actually be the tobacco base and coffee mixing, but it's fantastic.

It could be that I haven't had any since I bought my iTaste VV in December and was using my Spinner. I'm vaping at full throttle (11W) and this juice never misses. A bit dry (one poster described it as "chalky" but I just get a dusty/smoky mouth-feel), and the tobacco is prominent but with the coffee and cherry undertones. Lovin' it just like the first time.

Alisa, as you know I pretty much stick to the sweeter vapes but I've decided to give tobacco another shot. Have you tried many of the Indigo flavors? When I first started vaping I tried a few non-sweet tobacco flavors and they just didn't work for me. I think I might just need to find the right tobacco flavor though. I received a sample pack from Indigo that includes RY, Captain Oohrah, Captain Ron and Classic. I'm letting it steep for a while before I break into it though.

I've tried most of the tobaccos, not all. Firephly likes the Capt Ron--I hate banana so.... ;)

You'll want to let them sit for a while--if you can wait a month, great. They get to be at their best (IMO) at two months but I do start to vape them as soon as they arrive. Oorah you'll want steep for sure, the flavors are strong and distinct right out of the mail but mellow after a while. Of the ones you got, I've ordered RY twice and Oorah once. I do plan on getting Oorah again sometime.

Congrats Andria, and to think you were giving yourself to the end of the year...I sort of chuckled to myself when I saw that. You might have a weird week or two, and there are some well-known mileposts that might trip you up at least psychologically, but all in all, it's a pretty painless endeavor.

Yeah it really is; I was trying to give myself a "realistic" time frame, based on all my previous failures to quit, but having found this Virginia, it became very easy for me to vape instead of smoke. When I had just 1 a day for 3 days in a row and really felt no pangs at all, I knew the time was right. It was a *little* bit of a challenge yesterday, my first morning without a smoke, but today was really no big deal - I took the iTaste to my room with me when I went to bed, so I could start vaping while getting dressed, and by the time I hit the kitchen there was no thought of a cigarette! The iTaste also gives me a much better throat hit and a bit more vapor, so it's a lot more realistic -- last night I kept having to look to make sure I really wasn't smoking, just vaping! :D Just really, REALLY glad I got this bottom coil kanger clearo last night, so I can keep enjoying my Virginia! :thumb:

I ordered a 15 ml. bottle of the RY and the rest are 4 ml. bottles. The RY has a born on date of 1-17 so I'll give it a couple weeks or so and I'll probably give the rest about a month. Thanks Alisa.

Absolutely! I never smoked any cigarettes I liked as well as the Slims, and though it was a bit of challenge finding an e-juice with that flavor, now that I've found it, leaving the cigarettes really hasn't been difficult. It truly is grand!!!! :D

My samples were good to go right away IMO

Oohrah & Captain Ron were my favs, esp. Capt Ron (I didn't even notice banana in there)

For whatever its worth this is what Indigo had to say when I asked them about their recommended steep time:

"I would go with a week or two on the samples. Most of our Tobaccos only get a few days before it's time to mix up new batches".

I say give them a try now, the RY will be good to go if it was made 1/17. Sometimes the ones I get were made the day I order them so I have to wait, and I get 15ml bottles of everything, so...

So Firephly, out of all the Indigo tobacco flavors that you've tried which one do you think is the sweetest one?

well, I've only had those two so far and I'd say Capt Ron is sweeter due to the coconut

the others I got from them were oasis and Blue Yonder (not tobacco) and liked Blue Yonder a lot.

I'm interested in finding a burning/smokey taste to mix a little bit into some existing e-liquids to give those sweeter tobaccos a more realistic edge. Anyone tried anything like that that works? I've heard about ECBlend's Dirty Ashtray, but I'm afraid of it... I hear it tastes like soggy gym socks. I need something with a little bit of peppery bite or bitterness to it.

Torque 56 from Halo. It reminds me of the full strength cigarettes we would buy when we only had pocket change. It is pretty much straight smoke with a bit of that burnt and ashy after taste. It mellows after a couple of days, but it is pretty close to analog and has no sweetness.

You might try that customer creation I tried, called N7115... it says strong tobacco with a hint of cigar, and it's definitely that. I think it probably has just a bit of either TA or extract, but it's not overdone; it very much does smell like a cigar, and it's got a bite to it, not the smooth bitterness I was looking for. It's hard to describe tastes, in words, aarghh. It's not sweet; it does have a bitter edge, a bite, and it does remind me of the smell of a cigar. It might be just right, esp. if you're only planning to mix it with something else.

The Dirty Ashtray... I don't find it particularly gym sock smelling, not sweat... it really is like the smell of a place where many people have smoked for a long time... to me, that was the high school bathroom when I was in school, because we slipped in there between classes and seriously hotboxed cigarettes, like 1 for 4 girls. And we thought we were so cool... ack ack ack! I really am surprised I've survived to middle age. :D Anyway, Dirty Ashtray has a bit of a sweetness to it, kinda like a Marlboro, versus the bitterness of Winston (which I always preferred!). But a marlboro that's been put out and put back in the pack/box....

It's so hard to describe tastes and smells with mere words.

I was horrified to learn yesterday that the Virginia from myfreedomsmokes that I love so much is out of stock, and will be for a couple weeks. I just got 30ml of it, but considering how madly I'm vaping it up in my recent smoke-free state, I don't think that 30ml is going to last that long. So I'm looking online at all the plain (not fire or flue cured) Virginia e-juices I can find. I've ordered one from myvaporstore, yesterday, that should be here Thursday since I ordered it via priority shipping. And another order tonight from Caterpillar Vapes, for the Hangsen's Virginia. I will post my opinions of those vs. the MFS Virginia, as soon as I know; I'm hoping at least one of them might at least be an adequate substitute. I found another also, which is from a shop here in GA, so that would have fast shipping for me, and depending on how these other two work out, may be ordering it pretty soon also.
