This thread is a review thread for synthetic tobacco flavors.Note: no NET's here. (I have nothing against NET's, there's just already a thread for that).

There is generally a much, much wider range of synthetic tobacco flavors from virtually every juice vendor in existence, and a smaller(but growing) number of NET's. Given that a new vaper is more likely to encounter a synthetic first, especially from a major vendor, and I thought it would be nice to have a review thread of all the tobacco flavors we've tried.

Often they're very, very bad, but sometimes they're really good, too. I think both new and experienced vapers looking for tobacco flavors could benefit from this thread.

I will start it off. I should note that I am a cigar/pipe smoker and am well-acquainted with the flavor of tobacco-- I have yet to encounter an e-juice, NET or otherwise, that replicates lit tobacco(except London Blend from Want2Vape). Usually they are far from the mark. However, there are lots of tobacco flavors out there that taste like unlit tobacco or raw tobacco (or other things entirely) that are worth pursuing.

I'll start by vendor

V2 Cigs:

Red-- An important thing to note about V2's flavors is that they tend to be very inconsistent from one batch to another, as they are constantly monkeying with their flavors without telling their customers. That said, virtually every incarnation of V2 Red has been unpleasant to me. The first batch I had was a very fruity/nutty flavor with a chemically aftertaste. Every batch since then has been progressively more towards the chemical flavor and farther from the actual nut taste, which was better to begin with. Not really a flavor I recommend, although some people swear it tastes like a real cig to them.

Congress-- Very “green” tasting, for lake of a better word. Some people have compared it to celery. I don't get that, but it does have some kind of vague taste of vegetation to it, like green hay. Not disgusting, but not great. I can't vape it for very long without getting sick of it. It does have a faint nuttiness to it that reminds me distantly of a burley tobacco, but it's a stretch.

Sahara-- The only one of the three V2 tobacco flavors I actually like. It has a kind of sweet graham-cracker taste to it, and is slightly perfumey with notes of caramel. I would not call it tobacco, not even close, but it is actually very pleasant in and of itself, and the fact that it is so hard to place the flavor makes it unique. It tastes like what a hookah smells like. It's really tough to compare it to anything, but I like it, and I recommend at least trying it. It's fun to vape on it all day and try to contemplate how to describe it.

Vapor4Life:

Smilin Cigar Special (Full)-- This is a very interesting flavor. It has a pretty strong bite to it, like a clove cigarette blend, and is probably the closest thing to a cigar that I've tasted in a synthetic blend, which is honestly still not saying much because most cigar ejuices don't live up to their hype. Not sweet like most tobacco flavors. It also captures the fermented taste that most tobacco juices miss entirely, but it's a little too out of balance for me to be really convinced. It's close though.

Cuban Cigar-- Smells exactly like armpit odor, and tastes pretty much the same. There's really nothing good I can say about this. It's not complex, no bite, no tobacco-- just sweaty pits. Yuck.

PrimeVapor:

Triple Nickel Light-- This stuff actually reminds me of pipe tobacco, and is the closest synthetic I've tasted in that area. This flavor is complex and VERY nutty, like burley mixed with smoked peanuts or cashews. The only problem I have with it is the sweetness; it's a little overpowering. It makes an excellent dessert vape, though, like a nut-cake, and I do definitely enjoy it, I just can't vape it all day.

Rawhide Red-- This is pretty good, and tastes like raw tobacco leaves (unlit). Has a very mild spiciness to it, not spicy like pepper, but spicy more like pie spice or nutmeg, and is fairly sweet with notes of molasses. I would compare it to Redman chewing tobacco or something similar. No smokiness whatsoever.

Morning Blend-- A fantastic juice. Perfect blend of chocolate, coffee and tobacco. No one flavor stands out too strong, they all merge very nicely. I think this would be an absolutely PERFECT tobacco imitation if it were mixed with Triple Nickel Light, since it misses some of the nuttiness that would make the tobacco pop more. But overall, very good.

Vixen Vapors:

Hazelnut Tobacco-- Hazelnut completely overwhelms the tobacco flavor, and the two do not mesh well. Has a funky aftertaste as a result. Very one-dimensional and not pleasant. Don't recommend.

FreedomSmokeUSA:

Cam-blend-- Smells exactly like cheap perfume, and tastes the same. It's like they took their Black Tea flavor (which is a nice flavor) and kept making it stronger until it turned into something unrecognizable. I took 3 puffs of this and tossed it. The flavor really lingers in tanks too, so be careful.

Vapure:

Blackberry Dry Blend-- Tastes like a very mild, enjoyable blackberry black tea. Unlike most fruity vapes, it is not too sweet. There really is no resemblance to tobacco, at all, but that is irrelevant here because it is just so nice the way it is. I really like this blend.

Dry Blend-- Exactly the same as the Blackberry Dry Blend, but minus the blackberry. This is alright, mainly due to its mildness, but I prefer the Blackberry version better.

Fine Cigar-- Tastes like rose water. It's not even a bad taste, it just taste exactly like mildly sweet rose water. I have no idea how anyone blended this juice thinking it would taste like a cigar. If you want something mild and faintly herbal, then I recommend this.

Havana-- like Fine Cigar but waaay overboard on the rose, and with a strange fruit scent in it as well. Not good at all, and most certainly not what a cigar tastes like (or even smells like).

It's late here so I'll be back tomorrow with some thoughts.

Never have found a vape that tastes like cig smoke and probably never will. Maybe that's a good thing. I tried a pipe years ago wanting to taste what second hand pipe smoke smells like but all it did was burn my mouth and too strong to inhale.

Smoking a pipe is an art compared to cigarettes or even cigars. Most new pipe smokers burn their mouth until they figure it out (I did quite a few times). I also don't inhale, and most pipe smokers don't recommend inhaling either. Pipe smoke tastes absolutely nothing like how it smells and is usually extremely mild.

I'd like to chime in -- I actually have found a tobacco flavor that is so close to the taste of my cigarettes, it's flat out amazing. It comes from myfreedomsmokes.com, their "Virginia" flavor.

I know this must be a synthetic, because there is absolutely NONE of that smoky, dirty taste you get from real tobacco extracts; it's also extremely inexpensive, which is also not often true of the "real" tobaccos.

If someone is looking for a vape to rival the flavor of Virginia Slims cigarettes, you absolutely cannot do better than this flavor; at least, not in my experience, which admittedly is not terribly wide. It's actually *better* than the taste of a real burning Virginia Slims, but it took me about a week of vaping it regularly, while steadily decreasing my actual cigarette consumption to its current 1-a-day level, to reach this opinion, though I liked it *immediately* out of the mailbox. Friday I am finally giving the real ones the heave-ho, this Virginia is so good, so *like* a Virginia Slims, yet so much better, without the harsh bitterness of a burning cigarette. I can tell you this because a few minutes ago I went out to finish the 2nd half of the sole cigarette I've had today, and that thing was so bitter I nearly gagged, compared to the taste of the Virginia e-liquid.

The taste is of a very mild, very smooth tobacco, with a very *slight* touch of bitterness, but also a very *slight* spiciness, like a very faint trace of cinnamon; the exhale is pure Virginia Slims, but without the sharp bitterness of the actual burning cigarette, only that very mildly bitter trace. The vapor itself leaves very little scent in the air, so others around will not find its smell disagreeable. When dispensing the actual e-liquid, there is a faint scent, which is mildly like tobacco, but it's so light smelling it's rather pleasant.

Anyone who's fond of the Slims will love this e-juice, and anyone looking for a smooth, mild, *not sweet* tobacco flavor will enjoy it too, I'm pretty sure; it's truly excellent.

5 stars, and both thumbs up!

Andria

PS: I forgot to add, the throat hit of this Virginia is *outstanding*, even at 6mg; when vaping after a meal, it even gives you the "mouth tingle" you get from cigarettes.

Thanks AndriaD, I will definitely check that out!

I will have to qualify this review just a little, based on having just received my iTaste vv3. When I was first tasting this e-juice, I was using an eRoll. Now, with the iTaste, I have to add that if you boost either the voltage or watts with this flavor, it kinda goes to hell; that sort of "celery?" taste I've noted that some folks use to describe some tobacco flavors. Maybe *because* this is a synthetic? Or it might be because the juice I used to fill it was also just received, no time to sit and age a little. Not sure; it tasted great straight from the mailbox, with the eRoll. But, if you use this in a variable v or w PV, it needs to be on the lowest setting.

I just tried Halo's HX3. It only had three hours to breathe and no real steep time.

My first impression is a really light and dry rolling tobacco mixed with some cigar flavoring. The enhale was kind of flat with a definite top note of tobacco with a flowery undertone. On the exhale the flowery notes come to the front. If you like a dy rolling tobacco with a botanical note HX3 is the way to go. However, I was disappointed that there didn't seem to be any menthol in it.

For some reason it makes me feel like I should be sitting by the fire with a pipe in my hand. Overall it is a good flavor and well constructed. It just isn't my cup of tea.

To be fair, Halo says to let the juice sit and breath for 24 hours. So, I will update after 24 hours.

I'm a fan of many juice genres, vape a lot of NET, but also love synthetic tobaccos/lab tobaccos/arti-baccos. My personal favorite is Smooth & Mild from ThePlumeRoom, which I enjoy every time I pick it up. It has a smooth, kind of fuzzy, just plain tasty taste. It does have some Tobacco Absolute (TA) in it, but it's very restrained.

Right now vaping Banyan Tree from TheVapeTree. It's a bakery style juice with the synthetic tobacco flavoring taking a side role. I taste coconut in it. It's a terrific juice, has a very nice sweetness and mouthfeel and is quite unique.

My b&m has tobacco, turkish and 555. 555s always have an unpleasant perfume to me. I vaped the turkish for a while as ADV and one day tried the tobacco which became my ADV. A hint of peach or red apple, slightly sugar sweet.

Another b&m sold me Spokane Super Sauce from milehighcig. Strong flavor with taste of pouch tobacco. Good after dinner.

I then tried DIYFlavorshack (generally mix flavorings at 10%)
Shacky Tobaccy good flavor with hint of butter creme.
Magic Puff bland almost no flavor. However today I had hints of flavors and almost cig smoke on exhale. Maybe it needs more steep time.
Heavenly Tobacco DIY good flavor with green apple, not sour. Mixed with caramel, good. Mixed with english toffee, better. My ADV at the moment, straight. Mixed flavors in the evening.
Hickory flavoring, just got it. 3/1 add some to Heavenly/caramel and made a nice mix.
Kahlua and Cream Mixed 10% it doesn't taste like K&C but the longer I vaped the more it tasted like a tobacco flavor. Go figure.

Desert Vapes
Tobacco just got this one and steeped one day it is strong and tastes tobaccoy plus smells like something is on fire lol. Burns my chest, throat and eyes. May need more time. Mixed it 10% with 50/50 18mg. May need to cut to 5%. If so, good value. 3/1 it did mellow out a bit with time.

I find that my tastes change as time passes probably taste returning after quitting cigs. I started this thread about wood flavor
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/e-liquid-recipes/530420-wood-flavor.html
Some interesting thoughts and recipes.
I ordered some NET.com but that's another story.

Will edit if I find any new info or flavors.

Thanks for the replies, guys! Let's try to keep this thread going. It may take some push to give it momentum as typically people go straight for the "Natural Tobaccos" thread for any tobacco flavors. :)

Couple of new reviews, this time of NicVape flavors:

Carolina Tobacco-- Generic, sort of sweet and creamy synthetic tobacco. It smells like what I would describe as "cheap vapor", that is, the sort of smell I pick up from people vaping something that clearly isn't high-quality. It's not bad, though. It's definitely one of the safer, least offensive synthetics I've tried.

Coumarin Pipe Tobacco-- I'm a pipe smoker and I have no clue what coumarin is. I would say this has a slightly spicy tint to it, which I really like. This is a surprisingly complex flavor that undergoes a lot of changes while you're vaping it. Alternates between sweet and woodsy. It tastes the way pipe tobacco smells (which is true of a lot of pipe tobacco ejuices).

Clove-- I'm not sure if NicVape classifies this is a tobacco flavor, but it was in the "tobacco" list at the B&M that I got it from, so I'll just rate it as one. Ok, I'll be realistic: there's no tobacco flavor in this, whatsoever. So it was probably labeled wrong. Even still, it's really pleasant. Like sucking on a dried clove. Unfortunately I can't keep using it because clove juices crack my tank, but it was a nice change of pace. Be warned: this juice lingers heavily and will mingle with anything you put into your tank or cart afterward. In my case, that really isn't a bad thing, because it turns pretty much any tobacco flavor into a delightful mild clove blend, but I doubt it would taste good with a dessert vape...

The minute someone bottles a good artificial Latakia, I'm game.

It was one of my favorite flavors before it disappeared, I finally located it at MBV after searching for over a year and a half, but the page literally was deleted from their webstore; I contacted them- it was discontinued .

Any good suggestions on a straight up latakia?

It doesn't have to be fancy, it just has to have that taste you can't really get anywhere else.

I could mix that stuff in with just about anything and still be able to taste the flavor notes, and it would be a welcome addition to several of my juices.

UPDATE

After letting HX3 sit in the cartomizer over night almost all of the "botanical" flavor is gone. The menthol has also come out a little bit. I would say that it is a cross between an English pipe tobacco and slightly sweet rolling tobacco. It is a good early morning vape with coffee. However, it feels like something you would vape with a glass of brandy while sitting by the fire place. I'll call it a mature and refined tobacco.

With some more steeping and breathing this could become something I vape weekly.

You're going to have to just do a lot of sampling, unfortunately. I know that High Desert Vapes and Zeus E-Juice both have Latakia flavors, but I have not tried them.
