Just got a taifun the other day and totally "smitten" by it. The flavor is far superior than the kayfun in my opinion. The kayfun; however, seems to produce more vapor.
Up until now I've only used the kayfun RTA, so this is the first time I've cheated.
I removed the airflow tube leaving the gromet in place. I tried without the gromet and it was to airy for me so I put just the gromet back leaving the tube out; and that seems to be perfect airflow for me.
I've tried 2 build that have successfully worked.
1-34g kanthal at 1.4 ohms and 3.8 V using steel mesh and a silica flavor wick
2-28g kanthal at 1.6 ohms and 4V using just a cotton wick.
The cotton wick seems to be a much smoother, more flavorful vape for me.

Looking for other ideas or advice as to how I can increase the actual vapor without losing flavor though.
Overall I've gotta say this is much better than the kayfun.

Before anyone suggests suborning it or throwing it on a mech I will try that when I get my next vapmail delivery since that will be a mech and vtc5 battery. Currently I have only an MVP2 and provari. But, I do prefer regulated mods over mechs.
Any advice and suggestions are more than welcome.

I am a Taifun GT enthusiast, and have been for quite some time now. I agree that the flavor is a bit superior to the Kayfun, which I like also. As far as vapor production, you should look to your eliquid, and VG ratio's, because based on the build info you offered, your builds sound adequate.

For me, The Taifun produces as much, if not more vapor than my Kayfun's, but I also use a eliquids with a minimum VG ration of 60%. Initially, I built my Taifun's using ss mesh and silica top wick, but for the last 4 months I have used xc116 with the Taifun, which takes longer to break in IME, but the flavor and vapor production is awesome.

My suggestion is to bump up the VG ratio of your eliquids, and bring your build resistance down to 1 -1.2 ohm, which is where I usually vape with the Taifun.

What's xc116?

I'll definitely lower the RT on my build next time.
And next time I make juice I'll try 70/30, I DIY and usually make it at 50/50.
I am totally digging the cotton over the mesh. I'm still learning some of the products and builds out there. I went from the MVP/aerotanks to provari/kayfun 3 months ago and finally starting to branch out into other devices.
I'll bet this Taifun is gonna rock on a mech at 0.8 ohms.

xc116 is ceramic wick.

As for wicking material, try rayon/cellucotton. A nice member on here sent me about 2' to try out and I gotta say, as someone who would only use cotton this stuff is amazing. Gotta use a 'lil more rayon than you would cotton, but the wicking is much better.

I use rayon it in my kfls. I was gonna try it in the Taifun next time I fill it just to see if it leaks. I wick it sort of like a clearo, I leave some wick hanging out from the chamber a little bit. My concern with the rayon was since it thins as it's wet as allowed to expanding like cotton does, that it would cause a Katrina flood.

I'm gonna have to look into ceramic. I've never used it nor heard much about it.

Yes rayon works wonders in the taifun GT I don't care for rayon in my Kayfuns though I still prefer cotton

Really? I've noticed that with certain flavors like vanillas; the rayon almost tastes burnt. But with others it just shines. And in my dual coil kayfun it tastes like a portolet. I'm curious to see how it'll taste in the taifun and the ruzgar when that comes in.

Yes it just works so well in the taifun I think it's because of the design of the taifun wicking where it's always saturating in the liquid and the rayon is able to constantly absorb it as fast as you can vape.

Will that cause leakage if it just sits there for a while, not being used?

I've never had any issues with flavor or vapor in my Taifun GT builds. I use cotton for wicking and I always out a flavor wick on top. I lay it across the coil and allow it to go out the same length as the cotton. I use silica but sometimes I will use other wicking for the flavor wick.

So you use the cotton for the bridge and use a flavor wick on top still?
I just used the cotton only without a flavor wick and it seems to be running great, with no leaks and great flavor. I'm trying to avoid using silica altogether since cotton is so much easier to come by and I have 2 other new RBAs enroute to try out. And I'm really bit a fan of silica at all. I'm not against it; especially if it gives better performance in a certain application, I just prefer cotton.

Good question so far no but it's only been 6 hours since I wicked it with rayon lol

Lol- gotcha
Are you noticing more vapor out of the rayon than cotton?

When I first got my Taifun it tasted great but had a slight leak. Not often just sometimes. So I figured out why....

This explains why I put a flavor wick across the top.

A PBusardo Review -The Taifun GT RBA - YouTube

After watching this I always use a flavor wick. No more leaks ever. Still Tastes great.

wouldn't putting even more cotton or rayon in accomplish the same thing? Mines stuffed pretty good and hasn't leaked yet there really wasn't any gaps I filled the slots

I tried more wick. It still would leak, not often just sometimes. The flavor wick gives no leaking. I guess if you have no leaking then you wouldn't need a flavor wick. But I needed it. Maybe the type of juice contributes to the leaking, but the flavor wick solved it.

Well I also have the angelcigs version of the taifun which appearantly has narrower slits so it could be that

That's the way I do it when I don't have the ss mesh.
I watched the same video before I got it. But I wrap the coil a little wider than normal to be able to fill the holes on the side.

I'll have to pay attention when I take it apart this evening. I have the authentic and I watched the video before I did my first build and I've only had it leak once but I used a 3 ml piece of ekowool and no flavor wick. The cotton shoved in 2.4mm coil seems to be doing well, no leaking- yet. Lol
The ss mesh with flavor wick worked like a charm but silica bugs me for some reason.
