If I had to guess, a hotcig made gtii parts would fit the authentic, I'll let the resident expert chime in @dwcraig1

As to relevance, I think it is. And yes, the vape world has moved on.

So the hotcig clone parts may fit. That's good news. Can anyone confirm?

I like the Taifun a lot. If I can keep getting replacement parts, I intend to keep using it.

What has the vape world moved on to? What's the current generally accepted gold standard for devices and RTAs?

What has the vape world moved too? That depends who you ask. Kayfun 5? Aromamizer? Griffin? Smok tfv? Among many others.

If you like the vape and draw your getting from your GTII, I see no reason to change unless you want to experiment.

I have many styles of tanks. The GTII remains one of easiest to build, especially in a simple repeatable way. The GSII is another good tank (imo) and for me is much harder to duplicate the builds, others have excellent success with them.

The kayfun 5 is super simple to build, similar draw to the GTII maybe a little more open.

The aromamizer by Steam Crave is much more like a dripper, very open draw, lots of vapor and good to excellent flavor. Some people have a hard time wicking it and it leaking.

The Griffin, Gemini, smok tanks are all essentially the same design, velocity style (2 post) deck, wide open air flow, results of big vapor but muted flavor (imo - ymmv)

The squape x dream produces great flavor (imo), nice air flow options, not easy to build on but once you get used to it, it's not too bad.

Like I said, there are many options.

The single coil deck is perfect if you don't want to do dual's on the SQx.

So where can Hotcig parts be purchased? FastTech is the only one I've found, and they only have the Hotcig GT-S V2 listed, and its listed as discontinued. Is FastTech the only vendor?

I'd really like to keep using my TGTII, but how do I keep using it if I can't find parts when needed? Am I just going to have to find something new? Maybe a Kayfun 5? A very brief search showed that to be out of stock too. This is beginning to be discouraging.

Yeah I need to get me another one. Building duals on it with only 2 post holes is challenging for me. I hate recoiling that one. Next buying spree I'll pick up a single coil.... Thanks!

For anyone that is interested...

I've been thinking about this, and Smokerstore has never had much in the way of US distributors. I've used their products for two years, but with the spotty supply of maintenance parts, and costly overseas shipping and delays, I decided today to just get a Kayfun 5. There is a pretty decent US presence of authentic dealers, and the Kayfun line has always seemed well liked. The build appears as easy as a Taifun too, from what I can tell. It's ordered already.

I love my TGTII, but as good a product as it is, if it's not supported well by the manufacturer I want to see what else is out there I may like. I don't have a backup, so when I can't get parts I get antsy. At least this way I'll have a Kayfun 5 and a TGTII, so I'll have options.

Thanks for all the help though!

A lot of the Kayfun folks were disappointed with the Kafun v5 because it is so much more airy than the previous Kayfuns (MTL kit is available).
You though should like it just fine.

I read some of that, but I'm not too concerned. I do vape MTL, but I leave my TGTII wide open all the time, and I do a few direct to lung vapes every so often. Certainly the tightest setting on the Kayfun5 isn't more open than the TGTII all the way open. If it bugs me, there should be a MTL kit available, or so I've read.

They compare very close air wise.

What about the coil build on the Kayfun5?

Currently on the TGTII I'm building a 1.5 ohm coil with 7 wraps of 28ga kanthal on a 2mm rod. I wick with Rayon, and set my Provi Mini to 3.8v, getting me something like 9-10 watts. Will this work on the Kayfun5?

My best answer is my coil is pretty much identical in both, wick too.
For that wattage I think I'd be using 30 gauge but if that works for ya......

Why 30 gauge?

I'll admit, I don't know much about coil builds and wicking. When I started, a very nice forum member here went out of her way to PM me back and forth for my first build and wick. I started on 28ga, and stayed there. The only thing I ever changed from what I was taught was going from a 1.5mm rod to a 2mm rod to get more wick through it. I just lost one wrap, from 8 to 7, to still hit 1.5ohms.

I see all kinds of coil builds and terms (Clapton, dragon, ribbon, etc), and I've tried to read on the coil forum, but I really don't understand what everyone is doing or why one coil is better or worse than another.

I understand how resistance changes with the length or thickness of wire, but beyond that I'm left confused.

For both GT2 and Kayfun 5 I use the same coil - 3 mm (I like more cotton), 28 ga, 1.4 ohm. They work fine. I strongly believe more cotton = less leaking. My GT2 never leaks, as well as my cheaper clone of Kayfun 5. A bit more expensive K5 clone still leaks occasionally, but it may be some defect or O-ring.

Thanks!

I remember trying a 3mm coil about a year ago on my GTII, and if I remember I had trouble fitting it in the chamber. It touched, or almost touched the posts, and it hit the top cap. Guess I should have stuck with it and fanagled it to fit since it works for you.

I also believe more wick is better, just in general (as long as it's not too tight of course). I think it helps with both vapor production and leaks.

Well 10 watts is not all that much power, it will heat up quicker.
