Taking along spare coils...

I always have pre-torched wire with me. I torch about 2', then wrap it around a piece of card stock. When/if I ever have to replace a coil on-the-fly, I have a mini screwdriver in the same pouch. So far it's only been a security blanket. Never had to wrap a coil while out and about.

I've taken my kayfuns camping (in a popup) and just carried a cotton ball and maybe a some tweezers. I don't worry about the coils, I've never actually had one "go out" I've always changed them just because I wanted to. As long as you have a place to sit and some good light, it's not hard to rewick a kayfun on the road. I did it at a restaurant the other night LOL (I was showing a friend how rewick hers)

If you're talking about protank/evod heads... just have a couple spares rebuilt and ready to pop in when the need arises.

edit.. yea.. I keep that little micro screwdriver in my purse at all times.

a simple bic lighter would do the trick, why not keep the butane torch at home, bring some wire and a small lighter? or even a small torch lighter?

Torch lighters are a no-no in both carry-on and checked luggage.
