Can you tell me what you like about them? I have used just ego cleros and a vivi since I started. I like them well enough. Sometimes a bit of leakage, and sometimes a bit of burnt taste. So I am venturing out. I just got my first VW device so I would like to get the best delivery system as well. So, tell me why YOU use a tank. Thanks all.

EDIT: If you could tell me what you use or what you recommend it would be appreciated. Not killer in price but good quality.

I have been using carto tanks for about 2 months now. I was hesitant to try them, I didn't think that I would like the polyfill and that it would affect the flavor. I was completely wrong, I love the flavor, the ease of use, they don't leak, and are position independent (no dipping and swirling all the time). I have a few different tanks now, the most affordable glass that I have seen is https://www.ibtanked.com/kits/complete-tanks. They are very highly recommended (see Baditude's blog), and I am really happy with mine.

Thanks for the answer Chiku. I am hesitant too. I find the clearos so easy to use. Just unscrew and fill up. How much more in depth are the tanks? I do however certainly like what you said about the position independence. Although I also am curious to this as well. Doesn't the carto feed from the hole? So if your liquid is below said hole, wouldn't you need to tip it to get it there?

The Clock Barrens, Fillory
Hi

I use both carto tanks and the Protank. For me, in my experience only, the carto tanks win for flavor; the Protank wins for ease of use, however, not significantly. One of my carto tanks (from Valley View Vapes) has a side fill screw, which makes filling just as easy as with a Protank, and using a "tank tool" makes filling a regular cart tank pretty much a breeze, but it takes a little practice - just a little. Most of my tanks as from IBTanked. I use Smoktech, Boge and IKenVape cartos.

The biggest drawback with cart tanks for a lot of people is learning how to prime a carto correctly. Again, it takes a bit of practice, but it's not hard. Math is hard, prepping a cart and keeping it filled isn't rocket surgery. I can prime a carto and fill a tank in under two minutes, including letting it sit for awhile to let the filler get completely soaked. I don't remember the last time I had a dry hit.

The Protank is easy to use in the sense of fill it up and forget it, but I've found it fussy when it's cold and tends to leak periodically. It also leaks when left tilted, I don't mean on it's side, I mean at about a 40 degree angle, which annoys me because I often leave my mod sitting in my lap. It also has a airy draw, which I'm not crazy about, but have gotten used to. People have solved these problems by restricting the airflow, using EVOD heads instead of Protank heads or pulling out part of the wicks or whatever, but I got Protanks to "plug and play" and I don't like messing with them. I often get more consistent performance from little clearos if I mess with them. Again, this is just my experience. I'm sure at least one person is going to tell me I don't know what I'm doing - whatever.

The holes are really close to the bottom of the tank, I don't ever find myself tipping (especially compared to a viva nova, I had bad luck with the T3's so I can't really compare to those). I have seen some people have a bit of a learning curve with carto tanks, but I have found that any issue I have come across is easily fixed. The most important thing is priming the carto correctly, I like to use a syringe and push the needle into the poly fill until the top looks slushy, shake the carto and if it no longer looks slushy add some more. Once it's primed i put it inside the tank, and then i like to let it sit for about half an hour before i vape it. There are a few different methods I have seen, some like the condom method, some drip it in and shake it down.

Carto tanks are way better IMO get a glass tank with SS caps and fear no juice! Flavor is great. It dose take a little getting use to punching a cart and getting it down to your vaping style but its not very hard. Ive filled a carto tank in heave traffic its really the origional dump and go once you get the hang of it.

When it get's that low just refill it. You only have to fill the carto when it's new, after that you just refill the tank.

So from this description, I assume it is much more of a pain to change flavors on tanks? How long do the cartos in these usually last?

A carto can last a few days to a couple of weeks depending on how you vape and what juice you use. I have 4 to six tanks filled all the time as I switch flavors constantly. I do have a couple of favorites but I still vapes 4 to 6 flavors all the time.

Cartotanks are hands down better than any string-wicked delivery device. (In all fairness, I've not tried the Pro Tank, which is essentially a pyrex clearotank.) Better in flavor production, not position dependent (string-wicked clearo devices must be tilted frequently to keep the wicks wet as the juice level falls in the tank to avoid dry hits, not so in a cartotank.) Because my tanks are made of pyrex, I don't have to worry which juices that I put in them for fear that they might crack or melt.

My most used tanks are the IBTanked pyrex cartotanks because they best fit my battery devices. My preferred cartomizer are the Ikenvape 510 Fusion or Ikenvape Platinum in these tanks, which I currently have seven in my large collection from several different manufacturers. Backup cartomizers are from Smoktek, single coil in 3.0 ohm for the widest voltage selection on my Provari or other VV devices.

I have up to a dozen tanks up and running at any given time, each with their own flavor. I typically use 3 - 4 flavors a day.

You can have multiple tanks or add a new cart with the new flavor. You can switch flavors while using the cart but sometime its not so good. Cinnamon Black licorice was not a good flavor mixed ;-). You will find most people who do carto tanks find the slight fiddle factor well worth the trade off better flavor and Vape over convince. The Convience factor really is not much. Its kind of like chocolate chip cookies the prebought cookie dough slice and bake is good and nothing wrong with them. But its not to much harder to make some scratch CC cookies that are bad :censored: If you buy cartos in bulk 20+ you can get a good deal and you will save money over clearos.

For about a week I would have said the two rebuildable atty tanks I got were better than my trusty cartotanks. But alas, I have found them to be inconsistant. Granted, I'm a newbie with these and have much to learn. But my cartotanks will always be my mainstay delivery device because they are reliable and consistant.

Another ibtank/Ikenvape Platinum fan here. Using a cartotank is kind of like driving a stick shift. I don't know how folks without VV do it, because I ride the voltage up and down all the time. If I hear a bit of gurgling, I turn it up to 4.2 (on a 2.2 ohm carto). Usually 3.7 does it just right, until the tank gets low then I have to ratchet it up again. They're a bit finicky but not too bad, and the flavor and vapor is amazing. Novas are fine, it's my fail-safe, never-breaks emergency backup, but the flavor of the cartotank blows it away.

Pressure changes drive tanks nuts though, I'm in CO and a trip to the mountains means a flooded carto if I don't drain the tank.

You are a man after my own heart. Seems like our vaping experience have been very similar along with our preferences.
