I've been using carto tanks pretty exclusively for the last few months. My Phiniac tank was one of my best investments (I've since gotten one from IBTanked, a Munna tank, and a lil Mama tank, which I love, but I'm a glass kinda guy)! Cartomizers are cheap enough, and if you do one of those 10-box deals, you're set for more than a few months. The only other thing you have to worry about are the o-rings, and a trip to Home Depot can solve that, and after that all you need is juice. For me, it's just much more cost effective and simple. I love my Bulli A2-T, but I go all OCD over the coils I make. With a carto tank, I just punch, shove and vape.

The only fiddly part with tanks is punching the hole(s). Tanks tend to be much more forgiving with PG vapers like myself, but if you prefer higher VG they may be frustrating. Anything VG ratio 50/50 and up, for me, is a pain to work with.

Can you tell me what you like about them? I have used just ego cleros and a vivi since I started. I like them well enough. Sometimes a bit of leakage, and sometimes a bit of burnt taste. So I am venturing out. I just got my first VW device so I would like to get the best delivery system as well. So, tell me why YOU use a tank. Thanks all.

EDIT: If you could tell me what you use or what you recommend it would be appreciated. Not killer in price but good quality.

Long story, short . . . I gave away all of my clearomizers with the exception of 2 protanks. My everyday go to delivery devices are cartotanks. I use cartotanks for the very same reason, which you are making this query.

I have cartotanks ranging from $25.00 to $80.00. The best in build and value for the dollar are my OCD IBTtanked tanks, without question, in my opinion and personal experience.

I'll second that. Phiniac is my everyday tank, just because it looks so damn sexy on an EA Mod, but IBTanked's complete tank kit is value beyond words. If you compare a Phiniac with stainless encaps and an IBTanked side-by-side, you can tell which one has a higher price tag, but they both still do the exact same thing. And they both do it flawlessly.

I've been using carto tanks since about 2 months after I started vaping (give or take a couple weeks). I started with a Boge F16 or something like that, then I got couple of polypro tanks that are perfectly fine, but a bit over priced in my opinion, so I started ordering from Valley View Vapes. I have three of the polypro tanks now, but I just ordered two more from VVV because I like them so much. They're small enough (the 3ML, at least) to look alright on my ego Twists, but they don't look ridiculously tiny on my itaste SVD, either. They haven't cracked, leaked, etc. a single time and each one lasts a few days before I need to re-fill it. I love that they're really simple to use, but they do take a little getting used to. I punch my own cartos, and that took a few tries to get them the way I like them, but now I can take one apart, prime a carto, clean my tank, punch the carto, assemble & fill in about 5 minutes, probably less. I never get dry hits, burning tastes, or any of the other problems I had with clearos and just plain cartos.

For a starter tank, I would recommend the 3ML polypro from VVV because it's pretty sturdy, you have a few customizable options, and if you don't like it you won't be out a lot of money.

I just got my first Phiniac tank, but I'm waiting on juice to fill it with, so I haven't used it yet, but I have high hopes. I've only heard good things about Phiniac, but I wouldn't recommend starting with one because they are more expensive, being glass & the like.

So I went to valley vapes as they were recommended. Can someone tell me if there is something wrong with the polypropylene tanks as compared to the pyrex ones? It says does not melt from flavors which is what I am looking for. Any advantage to the pyrex? Just curious as I want to try them but 10 bucks is better than 30 for just trying. Thanks

lolwut? no sir...ibtanks look much more refined in my opinion.

polypro tanks may fog/crack/explode with some juices...ok, they won't explode. pyrex/glass tanks will not react with the juice and are better...

if you want cheap great quality tanks to try carto tanks, look no further than the boge f16. 7 bucks a piece at vapor beast. It would be your safest option, if you dont like them you are only out 7 bucks. as others have said its all about priming the carto. my method is to drip into the filler(NOT the hole) then three short puffs on the end to work the juice towards the bottom ( connector side) when i say puff i mean blow. when the top is slushy looking and a gentle blow cause a tiny bit of juice to form at the bottom, not even a drops worth you are ready to go!!! assemble the tank, fill and go

I'd like to clarify the facts about the materials that clearomizers, Vivi Nova tanks, polycarbonate vs polypropylene delivery devices use. Polypropylene has been previously mentioned in this thread incorrectly as being susceptible to cracking or melting from certain volatile flavors such as cinnamon and citrus flavors (and many others).

This is NOT true. Polycarbonate is the clear plastic that clearomizers, Vivi Nova tubes, and some inexpensive and expensive cartotanks use and it is this material that is susceptible to damage by volatile flavors. Polypropylene is a frosted plastic that is immune to the volatile flavors.

This is all explained in the following blog article. I first show a video of a tank melting and cracking after being exposed to one of these flavors. I also have a link to the current list of volatile flavors that can do this to polycarbonate devices. I also provide alternative delivery devices that are safe to use with these flavors.

Cartotank that has the clear plastic tube made of polycarbonate not safe to use with volatile flavors).

Polypropylene cartotanks that have frosted plastic tubes that ARE safe to use with volatile flavors.
