I have 2 Avocado24 bottom air atomizers on a Lava box dna 75, and lava box dna 200 and almost every build (single coil 26g NI200 8 or 9 wrap 3.5mm) starts out fairly fine, at around 410F, .10 ohms or so. I guess depending on how well the cotton is wicking.
Then after a day or so, if its been sitting around unvaped, a lot of the time (not always) what was a good vape turns super hot!
Even if I turn it down from say 420F to 370F is still crackles and fires hot. Ive looked for short in the coil or connection but nothing seems to be amiss.
Anybody have this issue? or suggestions?

If it's occurring on a tank after sitting for a day or two and clears after a few draws, it's just a wet coil and overly saturated wick.

Mr. Eskie,

Do you think that the wick/coil exposed to ambient air may attract atmospheric moisture/ humidity and the extra water content contributes to the initial spitting, popping and "poor" performance? (op is in Hawaii)
Humidity is VERY high where I am and I experience similar issues after the device sits overnight. It usually resolves it's self after a few pulls.

I'm not looking for conformation or agreement, just spitballing. :2c:
Cheers
I

I don't think it's the ambient humidity. It's usually your wicking just, well, wicking. When you're vaping you're vaping/evaporating liquid off. Leave it alone for day or two and liquid will still wick up a bit so the first few draws are evaporating a bit more than would normally be present. I see it in both my RTAs and my RDTAs like your Avocado.

Why you using Ni200 btw??
sorry i didnt get notification of replies:
Stainless is the only other that i have experience with and it seems a little hotter harsher?
I dont notice ohms changing much at all...

I just noticed somethin on my DNA75 which requires frequent batt changes; invariably with a fresh batt, it fires off hard!
I usually start upping the temp after a couple hours so when it gets changed out, wow, big difference.
I didnt realize this would happen on the DNA chip... is this common knowledge or an oddity?
I.e: I started out at about 420F then upped after a while to 450 ... just changed out a fresh batt and now I took it down to 380, 390F to get the same effect on the vape.
* note I didnt let it sit; it just happened due to batt change.

I've never had that experience on any of my DNA mods.

Its not humidity or atmospheric moisture/ pressure or anything like that. My Lost Vape Triade DNA 250 does the same thing. It does it every time I change my batteries or if it sits unused for awhile. I turn it down for a few puffs, and then it goes back to normal. My screen goes off when I hit the fire button, and sometimes it stays on. I think Evolv has some bugs to fix.

Why the question about Ni200? should I be using something else? Just wondering.
Remember, Ni wire is the 'non-resistance' wire you used to have to use in carto's etc so it's not really well suited. It was chosen originally because of its high TCR but there are many better wires types around these days - stainless steel, NiFe alloys even Ti. Much better resistivity (although lower TCRs) so you dont need 100 wraps to get to some decent Ω'age. SS and NiFe (and to some extent Ti) can be dry burnt, you can use microcoils if you want etc etc.

Thanks ... not to mention the DNA75 Lava Box with its small text screen is so dark, impossible to read in daylight, and hardly at all if your eyesight isnt perfect. Its pretty outrageous.

Thanks for that. I just returned to vaping after 2 year layoff... I have used SS 316 and it seemed a little hot for me, but will try it, and will try contact too.
I used to use Ti with voltage vaping before all the time... any tips on Ti for TC? I dont recall if I was using it for TC before... lol.

Used Ti a bit ;)

Titanium wire, vaping and safety

lots of info. Just have a look at some of the later posts and the early ones for early issues with Ti and TC vs non-TC vaping!!

for what its worth i only use NiFe48 now...

mine does that too. when i switch batts it reads the resistance Way higher, even on a cold tank so i have to reduce temp by a lot. after a while the chip resolves down to the proper resistance. makes me nuts. my mod, sdna75, didn't do that initially. been using 8 wraps of 3mm id 24g ti forever.
