Bristow, Ok.
We have students waiting for teachers. This is going to be a great thing as soon as we get it going. If you have made a mod and have a camera you can teach someone something. It doesn't have to be an original idea you can borrow one. Just please be nice and give credit where it is due. There are so many great minds here. There is also a lot of people that can follow simple directions. We all just need a jump start. Take a little time and just jump in. We can all learn together. It will be fun.

Crazyhorse modified the NicoStick to charge without removing the battery. I want to try and improve upon that idea just a smidge. If I can get it to work, I will instruct a group for that mod. You gotta give me some time to tinker with it though. I won't be ready tomorrow or anything. If you want to do that one, let me know. I will be working on a parts list so you can order your stuff from China and actually have it on hand when I am sure I can get it to work.

I am jumping up and down. This will be wonderful. I just couldn't ask for more. This will get the ball rolling. Can you tell I am happy? All of the other students will be thrilled too. Thank you so much. I love
crazyhorse's idea to make the box rechargeable. The box mods are great because you can open them up if you have a problem or just want to tinker.

I'm looking very forward to trying that mod out.

I would love to do this with my next mod, but I have to get all the parts, and come to think of it, the design may be a good thing to have down as well. My problem is that I always find a way to improve stuff, and I end up thinking about it waaay too much. That is why my last mod took about a month (had to wait for batteries from DX too).

What thread was that? Have a link?

Ok. I was wrong about the modder. It was NomasTomas who posted pics of it in a thread started by crazyhorse. Here's a link.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/battery-mods/19170-easy-recharge.html

I did manage to get it to work lengthwise, but it was a real tight fit and I didn't like it much, so I undid it. It's a rather simple mod, but I prefer to have my pacifier available while my batteries charge. I could tell you how to easily modify the NicoStick this way if you want, but I don't think it warrants a whole class (just my opinion, if someone else wants to do it, PLEASE feel free).

Thanks Nico, will take a look.

Incidentally, I picked up a 3.6v screwdriver at the supermarket as it was less than $4 (yes, not that screwdriver), so worth a punt to to see what battery was inside.

NiCd :(

Now i know: 3.6v probably not lithium. Got a set of bits though :)
And a small motor, some cogs, transformer, wire, switches etc; so no loss really.

The charge circuit on this was rather simple - one resistor! Not something one can do with Lithiums.

ps: Had a look at the thread - I should have guessed ;)

Thanks for the info on the battery in that screwdriver, Kina. I have been wondering about my cordless rotary tool. It also is marked 3.6 volts, but doesn't seem to last long on a charge (NiCD was wonderful in its time, but just seems so archaic now). My cordless drill can go on forever it seems, but is a little too rambunctious to do much good in such close quarters as these mods. I may end up having to mod my rotary tool:rolleyes: (I guess PVs might only be the beginning;)). This really is at least another obsession, if not a full blown addiction:D.

Modding, reading the forum and sleeping are the only things that cut down my vaping. Now, if there was a cure for sleeping, I could get more modding done ;)

I just worry about the NiCd leaking, Cadmium is really nasty stuff.

Not 'nuff amps to run an atty. You'll need at least 1.3A (1300ma) and more likely something that can do 2.0A or close to that. NewEgg has a 2000ma USB wall wart and there are cheap battery-less pass throughs around (MV).

You can probably build a box mod for under $10 that'll use a $4 battery.
