Titanium is hard to get a hold of. In the US, I've only found 24 gauge on Amazon and 30 gauge from Rio Grande (a jewelry supply house). I have some of each and I wish there was 26 and/or 28 available. Personally, I prefer 3x30 twisted over 24, but that doesn't mean it's optimal everyone.

I suspect the much greater availability may have been one of the factors that influenced Evolv to calibrate for and recommend nickel instead of titanium.

With all due respect, I disagree. All engineering decisions are a series of compromises.

Okay let's put it another way. It was chosen because it was the best option.

Also, surely as an engineer you've made some decisions that had no real downsides. It's not an impossible situation, so I wouldn't say "all" decisions. Sometimes something is just a better choice all around.

Seems just more hassle than what I need. I got in this to quit smoking not become a follower of the latest and greatest money maker.

What's such a hassle about it?

my battery life has improved because I can get the same quality of vapor with lower watt/heat.

Eh? Got proof of this, or an explanation of why it should be? It's got placebo written all over it.

Dr. g I really don't have to prove anything but I would be more then happy to share my experience. I use Samsung 25R in my TC device and I have loaded kanthal, Ni200 and Titanium on the same device using the same topper. I still like a kanthal build for specific liquids.

The run rate or vaping time for me is pretty consistent, I vape the same amount regardless of the build. I think common sense would dictate that if I vape Ni200 at 19 to 25 watts and I can vape Ti at 13 - 15 watts and get the same vapor quality that the battery will have more run time based on using less wattage consistently to fire the build.

Hope that helps :)

Well, what's not common sense is any kind of explanation why you would be able to run one material at that much lower wattage. I can't think of anything. You?

I mean there is a possibility that you just have it set to 19-25 and it is running at a lower wattage, but presumably you are seeing a difference between the settings or you would not change them.

I find that titanium is more efficient at a lower temp and wattage. Therefore I get more life out of my battery while the setup gives me the same quality vape. Moving on :)

That's, as far as I know, nonsense. Obviously if you turn down your power you get more life. But you can do that with anything.

Well maybe the next generation of TP will have the option for Ni200 or Titanium.

What ohm range do you use titanium at?

Interestingly, Phil Busardo just today released his latest review videos (two part) on the Evolv DNA 40 board. Note this is primarily a board review, not a device review.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEU4wzDEarU#t=95

Thanks for posting these videos!

It's great to see PB's honesty in the second video and that he feels the same pain as the rest of us. I think it was one of his best reviews he's done to date!

And Dr g since you seem to be reading impaired I made the statement that with titanium I get the same vape at a lower temp/wattage which results in longer run time. If you read what I wrote in stead of being a member that just likes bust balls you would taken my statement for what it's worth. I stated I reduced the temperature but the result was the same vapor quality as NI200. It appears you would rather be a troll.

Vape on bother and enjoy your weekend.

Making a nonsensical statement and not backing it up with any proof or reasoning is worth exactly zero. I could claim I get a month of use out of a single 18650 and it would be meaningless unless I provide some kind of hard data.

People have often misinterpreted their results as being attributable to something incorrectly due to misunderstanding. A prime example is how many people think running lower ohms on a regulated device draws more current from the battery.
