Terrible lag loading posts & threads

Had some wicked page load times a few minutes ago (about 1:05-1:10 pm Eastern). Didn't last very long, I went back and forth between page loads of a few seconds and "waiting for e-cigarette-forum" status message for 10-20 seconds over the course of about 5 minutes. I was browsing several threads in the PIF forum and the CoV sub forum during that time. Everything has been back to normal for the last few minutes again. Running Firefox 14.0.1 (with current versions of Adblock and NoScript active) and Windows 7 Home Premium

This is the way the page load issues affect me. They'll happen for a few minutes and then all will be back to normal for a while. No particular threads or sub forums it happens in, nor does the number of tabs I have open seem to have any bearing (sometimes it happens when I only have one, other times when I have several)

i ran into the same problem but 2 hours earlier ....... nothing would load. but i think this time it was a combination of problems. once i got over the ''waiting for e-cigarette forum.com'' i could see at the bottom that pics stored on pb were taking an unreasonable time to load .....................

I've seen that other ecig forums a fraction of the size of ECF are having the same problem. Maybe its related, or maybe its just karma happening.

I've been pretty lucky with only a few days here and there of slow loading but I am completely unable to send any pictures or videos now through pm...

i've been watching the status bar on ff. a few days ago i realized pb took forever to load. tonight it seems stuck on

''connected to mystatus.skype.com''

i realize that ecf might not be able to do anything when outside links like pb are loading slow. but maybe something could be done for skype?

i know, mod - but how do you tell people to remove it? it's an option offered to them and it should not hold up page loading ....

on the page i was watching load we had one member with skype under the avi

Tibs, I am indeed monitoring the thread, but as FM my role here is to toss feedback and issues to the tech guys through Roly. I can take care of a lot of things , but when it comes to making major changes to the templates it is up to our coders.

Not much we can do if skype times out or someones sig banner takes forever to load. we probably could get the skype links removed and if you really wanted you could always check their profile for skype. Lets see what Roly and the tech guys think.

thanks, sarge! i know you have no control over outside links and how they load but in the case above, even though the page was scrollable to some extent, the reply box was not functional for ages.
apparently, roly's goal to have the ecf page load first, without waiting on the outside links, has been achieved to some degree but if somebody wants to reply or move on to the next page there is nothing to be done but wait .....
the day pb was slow it was an absolute nightmare - we had a turning in progress and people were posting pics in honor of the soon-to-be ecf vet with most of those pics hosted on pb.
hence my question to roly and the coders - is it possible to make the ecf page respond (post a reply, go to next page) before all outside urls on that page have been downloaded?

Yeah, it's been atrocious on my end since yesterday, too. Not sure what's changed within the last 48 hours that I suddenly have issues. I've had consistently slow page loads today, to the point where I'll open a new tab and go do something on another site while I'm waiting and other websites are loading fine while my ECF tabs are stalled.

Previously, my ECF issues were scarce and intermittent, usually not lasting more than a few minutes and then back to normal. Last night and today has been slow the whole time, though sometimes worse than others. Right now it's actually the best it's been in this time period, though still a little slower than normal. I think my worst time today was probably around 12-1 PM (Eastern) or so, maybe a little bit before that, where my page loads were actually over one minute for a short while. I didn't think to run a trace at the time, but I'll be sure to do so then next time I encounter that much of a slowdown
