Terrible lag loading posts & threads

Whis, the Snail thread is still slow, but not as slow as it has been. We started a part 2 of the j0ker thread and had the original thread closed, it's fast now. The Snails may want to consider doing the same with the Response on Threads, thread.

I'm still on the old template. The forum has been a lot faster for me, the last couple of days, so I haven't bother changing yet. If I run into a slow period, I will try the Blackend and see how that works out.

tried the template - real hard on the eyes and no difference. i run dnt+ and no-script now and can't complain about page load times - it's that spinning icon ''waiting for ecf'' that does me in ........ but that has not been too bad the last few days

I was getting 500 errors when I was trying to access any thread... it went away in a pretty short time but I didn't pay attention to how long, probably around 15 minutes or so at the most

I don't get lag on my mobile phone and rarely have issues on my pc.
Personally I think there are a few problems with ecf's social media integration, but it seems to me that it is mostly a few people that have issues.

To me that means they have crappy pcs and no computer savvy. My piece of garbage pc does fine...


The other option is that they just like to complain. Maybe it is both. I don't know, but to me this entire thread is a whingefest.

I'm one of those who can't/doesn't spend much time here so when I do fly through it's important to be able to fly through. I use FF and NoScript which blocks the social media buttons.

Then there are those who spend a whole bunch of time here and perhaps they don't want to use NoScript etc.. They want the site to run reasonably close to the way it did prior to the social buttons etc.. Most of them have some computer savvy but even if they don't, management had promised way back to come up with a workable solution. Roly seems to be trying to address the issue, bravo.

Many of the complaints in this thread come from folks who have made ECF a home. They dust and clean and keep the place hospitable for new and old members. Whiners, they are not. People who have made others' stressful lives better, they are.

Your assumptions are incorrect... on many points...

I've seen many posts by other users in other areas of the forum that haven't take the time to report their issues here... The majority of the ones I see post often hardly ever complain about other issues unless they have a real reason to.

My own internet connection has 12Mb down provided by one of the top providers in the USA...

My home PC is a 3Ghz dual core processor and has 4Gb of PC 1333 DDR3 system memory on a high end Gigabyte Motherboard... My work PC has an even faster processor and almost identical setup as the home system. Both are custom built by myself for quality and performance. I've been a diagnostic PC technician since 1989 and have experience with other computers since 1978. I own my own computer repair and custom PC company and have had many of my clients for well over 10 years since I opened, in fact they followed me from my previous position with another PC company.

All of the users have posted because of the impact the slowness we are experiencing... not because we like to whine. Many of use have proven that the issue is related to the social networks as the cause of their performance issues by blocking those same integrations and having the performance issues clear up... It is a real issue for many, not imagined or being blown out of proportion for some perverse reason.

I can see that you are going to make a lot of friends around here.

Maybe if your account was running slower you would have a Different Outlook on things.
