Well Hi ... hey, I was reading a little yesterday afternoon about the unemployment situation in South Carolina. Evidently its pretty bad there. I sure was hoping things in our Country would be starting to get back to normal by now. And now with the stock market the way it is, the housing market is sinking again and the unemployment going back up, we seem to be getting worse.

It's bad here, TT. But all things taken into consideration, its hard to know if it's worse than many other places - liars figure, figures don't lie, that sort of thing.

We have a large group of takers in this part of the world; they are bred to bleed the system. And we have a good many people who are too good to take any job - it has to be the right one when they find themselves unemployed. The work ethic is sorely lacking in these parts, anymore. But to be fair, it is not the best of places for the best of jobs compared to other parts of the country...we are pretty low on the socio-economic scale and pretty infamous for our ratings in public education and other areas that all play into it at one level or another.

All in all, though, a pitiful state - a pitiful country - of affairs at the moment.

Yes, I understand exactly what your saying and I think the area I'm in fits right in to what your describing. We live in one of the poorest Counties in Texas and you can find exactly the same things here. Really sad.

Maybe we'll get some good changes at election time. Hope so anyhow.

Has it cooled down any in the day times there>

LOL, you've got me all figured out.

Yeah, its going to break my heart to see my granddaughter leave. But at least we got to enjoy her for a short while and it was a really nice time. I think she had a lot of fun too.

I guess I'm just an old softy when it comes to my grandkids and people I love.

Oh well, there's no pill I know of for anything like that.

Speaking of mosquitos..ugh, I've never seen them so bad before here. I'm considering buying one of those propane mosquito deterrent systems its so bad. We were getting close to draught levels again a while back, so I'm glad for the rain we've been getting daily. But between the daily rain and the fact that we have 400 miles of canals here, it's a neverending battle because of all the water for them to lay eggs in.

As much as I misunderstand people and there posts around here - you're not one of them, my friend.
Your heart shines through, even when we're just teasing and pokin' each other.

I am sure Kylie had a wonderful time. How could she not have? She's got the best granddaddy and grandmama in the world.

And, no, there's no pill to cure being a softy for those we care about, TT. And that's a good thing - what a real mess this world would be in if it weren't for that.

And I better stop now before we both need a box of tissues. :)

I went to the Everglades in the middle of August once upon a long time ago. It was a battlezone; mosqitoes of such size and visciousness I had never before encountered.

It has scarred me to this day.

I would get the deterrent system, hands down. And I would probably cage my entire house, not just the pool. :D

Snorkle, snarkle, sob, ..... now you've gone and got my eyes and nose so wet ...

And I couldn't find a handkerchief or paper towel handy and had to use my arm ...

now my arm looks like a glazed donut.

I just flashed back to the grasshoppers there, too. Oh my.

They were huge and some of them the length of my hands, all colors of the rainbow...they scared me more than the alligators, LOL!

Now ... who exactly was speaking of mosquitoes?

Heh, heh, we don't have all that many in East Texas any more.

I think they all went to Arizona where there's more moisture.

TT

I know I saw Pokey talking about them...Hang on I'll go find yer reading glasses for ya TT :p

You might not have any skeeters, but I'll bet you still have some of those Tx sized roaches out there. Ya I know people like to call them "Palmetto Bugs"....to me, they're just big roaches

Ewwww....Palmetto Bugs, another favorite of mine. NOT.

They are big roaches; big roaches with a big attitude. And they fly, too.

I hate those things. They are surely spawn of the Devil. :)
