Toto: They are not for everyone but my kids and I just love them. The taste shocks at first cause it is nothing like peanuts as we know them.....then they just become addicting. They have to cook for a long time in very salty water...in the crockpot they cook for hours. Not nearly as long on the stove top, but still a long time. They are cooked in the shell and they absorb the salt as they cook. There are plenty of recipes online cause they are so popular in the south, and in my opinion, southern food is as good as it gets. And you probably wouldn't screw them up...you just keep tasting them until they reach the consistancy you like....some like them really mushy, but to me that is over cooking them. I like them to still be just a little firm. Like Pokey said, they are great with an ice cold drink.

And pretty healthy too if you are not on a restricted sodium diet.

Hi Pokey: Regarding your signature: I have a lovely dirty mind, and I am sure I took it just like you meant it. And I laughed out loud.

Toto: Are you making the boiled peanuts yet?

And that's exactly how I meant it...lol. It threw people off at first - for the longest time I was the "quiet one" on this forum, sweet little Pokey, blah, blah, blah.

I can be sweet, don't get me wrong. But there's this side, too. It's much more fun.

Did you get your backsplash all done?

LOL @Pokey and gramva...reminds me of something I did a long time ago, but don't think I can tell it on here.....yet anyhow...LOL

No boiling peanuts yet....I will have to remember to see if WallyWorld has any next trip there..course hubby isn't suppose to have peanuts and I'm not suppose to have salt, BUT will have to try it sometime I'm sure.....Don't think I would care for mushy either...

No---clear coated it this morning....then it has to sit for 24 hours to "cure" and then he can grout it. Then clear coat again. They are made of slate so extra work involved. Did not know that when we bought them.

Well, hubs just brought in chicken wings from the grill, so must eat them while hot.....will be back after dinner to see what kind of mischief making has been going on in my absence.

ROFLOL..I have to admit I didn't think you meant it that way Pokey!!!!!

Too, too fun....
It's whatever you want it to mean...that's the beauty of it. :)

I'll be back in a bit - the dryer's buzzing and the clothes in it are the sort that require ironing if I don't take them out and hang them "just so".

I don't iron, anymore. Only for weddings and funerals.

ETA: Sure you can tell your story here, Toto! It might be fun to wait for TT, though, and watch him blush.

OK I didn't get to catch up on it all since last night but I wanted to stop in and tell you all hello and what I thought was allergies may be a bit more :( Been in bed all day and probably still would be if it were not for the golf ball sized hail coming down right now. Drinking some chicken broth and back to bed for me. I hope that everyone is well and I will talk to you all soon :)

Sorry to hear this---do you need a nursie also? Chicken broth and rest are good, per pseudo-nurse Gramva. Hope you are feeling better soon. And golf ball sized hail can do some major damage. Wow--keep us posted when you feel more like socializing.

That means Salem probably did not get those cookies baked.....and I passed up dessert at dinner, thinking she was gonna give us all a cookie. Now one of my stomachs will shrink.

Oh, I gotta go....just heard True Blood theme song on tv. Gotta go watch it with hubs--he gets scared watching it by himself. Back later.

Salem, so sorry to hear your not feeling well. Hope the large hail ends soon and your illness does as well.

I spent the day at the hospital, seems I have developed cellulitus in my right ankle. I narrowly escaped being admitted at the cost of enduring two huge shots in my magnificent bahonkus. I have to go back tomorrow for what they call Wound Care then I have to go back Wednesday I think... for a procedure where they stick some kind of a deal down my throat to check a valve in my heart that apparently isn't functioning real good.

I don't think these people are too smart because my heart isn't attached to the end of my stomach. I think you can guess what is.

Then I have to go see the cardiologist again by Friday and then also have to pre-register for a sleep study which is stupid because sleeping is something that I do supremely well, in fact, I'm envied by men all over this Country for being able to sleep any where, any time and during any conversation ...unless we're talking about me.

This old age isn't what its cracked up to be.

Anyhow, I'm here and lets get the stories started!!!

COYOTE HUNTING AND YOUR GOVERNMENT

The Sierra Club and the U. S. Forest Service
were presenting an alternative to the Wyoming ranchers for controlling
the coyote population.

It seems that after years of the ranchers using
the tried and true method of shooting or trapping the predators, the
Sierra Club had a "more humane" solution to this issue.

What they were proposing was for the animals to
be captured alive. The males would then be castrated and let loose
again. This was ACTUALLY proposed by the Sierra Club and by the U. S.
Forest Service.

All of the ranchers thought about this amazing idea for a couple of
minutes.

Finally an old fellow wearing a big cowboy hat
in the back of the conference room stood up, tipped his hat back and
said, "Son, I don't think you understand our problem here. These coyotes
ain't f@#$in' our sheep; they're eatin' 'em!"

The meeting never really got back to order.

Your right on target toto! Man, when I look back at all the things I've done, horses I've rode, all the work overseas ... and now get winded just walking out to the barn.

But, I have a feeling the cardiologist is going to want me to have my heart operated on and maybe with a new valve and some other work I'd at least be able to get around better. The operation doesn't scare me ... heck, they just spit those things out anymore. And if that's what I need then that's what will have to be done.

But I'll bet you twenty five cents I can have that doctor laughing before he starts his operation!
