Perhaps that, but he spoke of a feeling of invincibility—not himself, but the Army of Northern Virginia. He could be forgiven that, because nearly all the Northern generals were incompetent in one way or another. And he must have decided his army was invincible, to decide that sending Pickett across thousands of yards of open ground, naked against artillery and into the teeth of prepared breastworks was a good idea.

McClellan was incompetent as a General and ran against Lincoln in the 1864 election. Had the South's invasion of the North been successful, there would have been a good chance that McClellan would have won that election and that would have been a big plus for the South.

Ah it's because I screwed up and got 3/4s of TT's house banned from the photo chop site.
They found a pattern in the voting history and gave the boot to all my ringers ,,, eerrrr I mean fans.
They stopped just short of banning me too. but I lost all my karma and may never get it back. kinda like this damn asterisks here once you get it never leaves.
