When I was a kid, my polish/czech step father's mother came to stay with us. She didn't speak any English. Every night at dinner she'd say something like "pombolk zaplets". I asked what it meant, and my stepdad said it meant "Thank God for this wonderful food".
However, I'm pretty sure she was saying "Make this bratty kid quit kicking me!"...
