Half Time!!

Wifey went down stairs to watch television in the living room. She doesn't care for football. I'll never understand her.

Whew, 700,000 homes in Connecticut alone without power and heavy flooding in Vermont! Terrible, terrible. And what, something like another 300,000 people without power on down south of New England. Their saying this might be the worst hurricane Vermont has ever experienced. That's awful! And the news is saying there are millions without power across all the States hit by the storm!

My honey just brought me some popcorn!!!

Oh, it was 105 degrees here today!

That is terrible, the flooding and loss of power is rough...particularly in this heat!! I will certainly be praying for those affected! But I am thankful that the loss of lives was small compared to what it might have been.... One life is too many... but I feared the numbers could be really high! :(

105 degrees!!!! That alone is bad, but when you factor in the no or little rain.....too bad Irene wasn't more selective. You guys sure could have used the water.

Well, survived the trip to Bass Pro/Ikea. Hubs bought a fishing rod and a bag of lures he doesn't need. I bought a funnel, a bowl, and some napkins, all which I desperately needed.....LOL. But I did insist we eat dinner at Texas Roadhouse, cause I knew if it had the word Texas in it, it had to be good.

Well, True Blood is coming on....I need my fix of weird for the weekend. Maybe check in later if I don't fall asleep on the couch like I did last night. I would say that is what old people do, but I have been falling asleep on the couch for 40 years.

When I was growing up, I hated canning days. Beans, beets, tomatoes, cherries (I pitted all of them!), peaches etc.....
The only thing I really loved was helping with the jam. We have lots of wild black berries, raspberries & marion berries around here, and I remember that warm sweet smell of the jams. And then, we'd pour the hot wax over the top to preserve them. Anyone else remember that? And how hard it was to remove the wax later without getting little wax chips in the jam?
Good memories!
