They are badasses. They live in Nevada, I think? [emoji14]
@QCVapor, you'd be surprised how people adjust to chronic pain. My husband pulverized 3 vertebra in his neck and had to have the entire thing rebuilt with bone from his pelvis during a drunken car accident. The cop felt so sorry for him, he only gave him a reckless driving ticket, though it was QUITE clear he was wasted, but since he drove his truck off a cliff, and climbed back up with a broken neck, I kind of think that was punishment ENOUGH.
He's an inch and a half shorter, and his scars are ridiculous! If he shaves his head he looks like Igor due to the Halo brace, and he was hospitalized for 18 months... He started out on pain meds but found they weren't helping, so he just lives with the pain and takes the occasional Advil.
He (rightly) points out that if he can't feel the pain, it would be a lot easier to reinjure himself. And he still does stuff like doing about half the work to rehab our house since it's cheaper that way and we can get a new roof as well. I used to have no idea how he did it, but being in recovery myself, I don't take pain meds other than Advil (anymore) and I've been shocked as to its usefulness. That said, I don't usually live with chronic pain (my dental implants were very trying since I don't do sedation or anything opiate related) but I've noticed the more I don't use meds, the higher my pain tolerance gets! I could probably do a natural childbirth now, but since the one I have is 20, I'd be HORRIFIED if that were to actually happen.

I'm enjoying being older quite generally, LOL.
People with chronic pain either adjust and thrive (go Tonee N and family) or they do pretty badly. That's been my observation, and distraction and coping skills are the name of the game. Tonee N deserves each and every
mod in the world! (Unless he has them all already [emoji38]).
Tonee I did not know about botox for necks, thank you for mentioning that. I might do some research for the husband, though he MIGHT turn it down in any case....
