Hello, I am a new member to ECF but have reading various threads for months. Such a nice group of people here, and so supportive. I decided I better get my new member posts done so I can participate. I have smoked a PAD for the past 35 years and have tried to quit many times. Even did once for 7 years and then started again....I know, very dumb. I came from a smoking home, Mom and Dad each smoking more than 2 PAD. All 5 kids in my family grew up to be smokers. Then I had 2 kids and yes, they are smokers. Such a vicious cycle. My kids now have kids of their own and I can already guess that history will repeat itself again. I got my first ecig starter kit from my sister (also trying this to quit) in March of this year. I was pretty picky and resistent, didn't feel right, too heavy etc so I did vape 98% of the time and smoke just a couple a day until I ordered a VOLT x2 900 mah battery and a bunch of clearomizers. What a difference. Fixed all of my complaints and I had my last cig on Memorial Day. I have been telling my kids about this journey all along but not getting alot of feedback. When I finally asked them point blank, wouldnt you ever want to try this and quit? They both said yes, but they wouldnt know where to begin and probably couldnt afford it. I immediately ordered them a full Volt x2 setup with clearo's carto's and various juices from Johnson Creek and Volt, backups and power cords. My son and his wife and my daughter all quit cigarrettes the very day they got their kits. Its been 3 weeks and they are thrilled to death and so are their kids. I have loved the transition to vaping, the health benefits I feel everyday, how nice it is not to smell stinky cigs etc, but the fact that my kids arent smoking is truly the best part for me.

Great story! I'm so very happy for you! That's wonderful that you've got your kids on board. I'm slowly working on my aunt and mother to transition to vaping.. soon enough I hope. Becoming a member on these forums was a great move as well. The support here is amazing. I've never participated in a forum full of such awesome individuals.

Hi TechDiva and welcome to ECF. Congrats on not only quitting but also helping your family turn to vaping. Yeah I quit once for 7 months and was white knuckling it all the way...the most miserable time of my life. Thank Gawd for vaping.

Thanks so much everyone. Yes, I am super happy about our success so far. The sister who sent me the starter kit is down to 2 real cigs a day, she has just gotten serious about it in the past week. She has the big Volt now as well, clearomizers and lots of great juices. I sent her all my favs and she is liking them too. One more sister to work on and we will be a smoke free family. My parents, in their late 70's and early 80's quit smoking cold turkey over 30 years ago.
Congrats on your success from a fellow Badger! Your story is similar to so many, generation after generation of smoking, it's admirable that you're breaking the cycle and helping your kids out too. You're a great inspiration! Take Care and Good Luck.
